For people who want to Nerf FATES

I would like to see the other sources of exp buffed before hand to see if a nerf would be needed however with how much the fates give I believe it would take a load of buffing to get enough incentive for people to stop fate grinding to do other things to level. This would cause a potential power creep sort of scenario. But I could be wrong.

Perhaps if they added fate difficulty scaling with population as well as buffing the other exp sources a bit that would probably do it.

I'd rather them boost the xp gained from doing dungeons before nerfing anything. I'd prefer to do dungeons for the gear and the playing experience for the class I'm on rather than spamming the same one button doing FATEs. Dungeon xp isn't necessarily bad, but the big deterrent is less people queue for dungeons because FATEs are drastically better, leading to longer queue times, especially for DPS.

The reason I want FATEs nerfed exp wise ... so we won't have these people at 50 that don't have a dam clue how to play their class! Getting into AK, Titan, and even worse Coil but tanks can't hold threat and DPS are doing half of what they should be. Why? Because they have never had to do it before! Boost dungeon exp and nerf fate exp. People will always take the easy way so this way people learn their class and get geared in the process. Fates should give exp but not enough that they become the sole way to level to max

Fate grinding is very nice, it is fine the way it is.
As for people getting carted to 50, that is fine. What is not fine is the fact that a lot of people who do said fates thinking its easy and end up at 50 without knowing their class.. that is their fault.
Just because someone gets carried to 50 by fates and doesn't know their class; doesn't make it the fault of a fate, or anyone else. Do research, learn your class, take the time to look at skills and test them. You cannot blame fates for someone neglecting to use google or ask others for info.

I dont want to nerf fates, i want them tuned. So 200 people in the zone, the fate gets harder. Im lucky enough to be at the beginning of the train of people running to the fate, and if i get an instant cast spell on a few im happy. But i know one thing, you cant be happy about the current being of fates.

I think FATE's are fine the way they are. Put it into perspective.

Dungeons were at the height of popularity when people were leveling their first 50's. Mostly because you had to do the dungeons to advance through the main story. With my first I barely touched the FATE's at all. I did my main story, regular quests, and so forth. However once that was all said and done, most of my resources were used up when I decided to level a second class. Lower level quests don't reset for the same character even with a class change, so those are out. Main story quest doesn't reset for the same character even with a class change, so that is out too.

So what do you have left? Dungeons, leve quests, and fates.

Dungeons give okay experience. I have yet to run one where I gained a full level for the effort though. Maybe half with food and the like. This can be a decent way to level if you have a solid group. Spam the dungeon since there are no cooldowns and sure, you can level up eventually. But by the time you get your first 50, dungeons become obsolete thanks to seal gear. With immortal flames alone I've managed to gear all of my DD's without ever needing a single piece of dungeon gear, and they survive and do damage just fine.

Leve quests are an obvious. If you do them everyday, you only have 3 quest you can do. And from 3 quests you really do not get much at all. If you save up then yeah you can spam them until they're all out. But leve quests are far better for crafting, and typically I save them for that alone.

And finally FATE's, the controversial topic of the hour. Really when you look at the prior two options, you can see how FATE's take a vast appeal to those leveling other classes. It is quick, you get gil and seals, and you don't have to save up just to get a burst of use from them. At 50 they become useless again because they do not give the tombstones people start to grind at that level. If they did, then maybe I'd say they should suffer a nerf.

As a DD, duty finder is pretty much useless to me. I can queue up and wait upwards of 45 minutes before I get a pop. People will argue it is because of the FATE's but this was going on even in the beginning, because DD's are an overpopulated field. So if I do instances, I do them with my FC and skip duty finder altogether.

So I am a firm believer if you have a complaint, then try to submit a constructive fix with what you consider broken material. Although I think FATE's are fine, here are suggestions I think would benefit many:

-Reset quests for every new class you decide to level. You can also have the option of doing the main story again or skipping it, just for added exp gain. I love the idea of one character being the main hub for every class and craft you want to do, but that is the only complaint I have regarding the option.

-I've seen several people suggesting the sync of FATE's proportionate to the number of people involved in it. I think this is a good idea. Some FATE's are too short for the number of people zerging them. So add more mobs, or give them larger HP, so everyone has the chance to actually get a gold rating for their effort. But if there are less people involved in a FATE, dumb down the difficulty so people do not have to rely on zergs just to complete a FATE to start with.

-Increase exp gain in dungeons. I am not sure why this isn't standard to start with. Many MMO's rely on the same 3 act structure, and dungeons follow the same formula. It is where people go to get gear, and to get exp. Also to increase dungeon popularity, maybe some sort of incentive for completing certain ones a day. Be it extra gil, or a neat 2 hour buff that sticks to your character to help them level in open world as well. But right now beyond the main story, myth points and tombstones, instances aren't the end all to your success.

-Duty finder isn't a bad system, not really. If you're a healer or a tank you pretty much have the advantage. But for DD's, most days are rainy ones. I see people using shouts often to try and recruit people for their needs. So add a sort of looking for group system. In several games I've played there are similar tactics used. A system where people can see your post and apply, and the group leader can choose to invite or decline the application. It would make things easier than using shouts which are limited to the area you're in, and may promote more instance runs.

-Levequests could do with a slight upgrade, either higher exp gain or bigger daily allowances. Otherwise they're only good for crafting and basically can be skipped unless you are just shy of a level.

-Fates are fine. As of right now they are the best way to level alternate characters. Nerfing fates is not the answer, updating the rest of the content to make FATE's less appealing would be a smarter move.

I just don't like how FATEs make dungeons obsolete. I prefer doing dungeons over FATEs even if it does take longer because not only do i learn how to play a new job effectively it's also just more entertaining.

FATEs give too much rewards. The best source for company seals should be company leves and not FATEs.
They also should remove any party bonus from FATEs and give no EXP for single mobs, just for the FATE as a whole.
And to get the reward you should have to be at the FATE location, and not on your way to the next FATE.

Whoever is having fun doing FATEs now, together with ~100 other players is a sadomasochist. My opinion.

I don't think that fates should be nerfed, but they do need to be tweaked.

1. As others have said, fates should spawn a number of enemies comparable to the number of PCs participating. How the system could work that out, I don't know, I'm not a programmer. But there are fates where even in a party you have a hard time getting full xp because of the zerg.

2. As for the fates themselves, I think they need to be redistributed. There are the obvious places everyone goes such as Coerthas and Bluefog, while other areas have no one doing the fates whatsoever. I think that the number of fates that spawn/the kind that spawn/the xp offered should be more evenly distributed between zones. I think evening out the zone playing field would make it more enjoyable. "Gee, I did fates in Zone A yesterday, I think I'll go to Zone B today."
...And before you say that I'm more than welcome to go do fates in another zone any time, it's pretty hard to take down a boss by yourself.

Think EmberRaine has a good point.

At the moment you can level from start to 50 in 2 zones. South shroud to 40, north thanalan to 50. Those 2 zones need to be balanced FATE wise with every other zone, as pretty much every other zone you see very few fates being completed. Albeit I dont fate zerg in parties and enjoy when theres a small number of people doing them.

Balance those, add a daily xp bonus to dungeons revamp leve rewards and see what happens.
