Has NM Drops been sucking for you too? XD

You guys are silly, just because I only offered up one way to do it doesn't mean I think it's the only way.

Well you were pretty specific with your party set up Molly. You could have just as easily said "Grab a tank, some healers and some DDs that can attack right limbs."

To the OP: I would encourage you and your LS to go with whatever classes you guys like to play. Just make sure you have at least 1 person who can damage the right arm (this much is obvious.) If you do only have 1 person that can damage the arm, make sure s/he focuses solely on it the entire fight after you've killed the Bouncers (unless you're low-manning.)

The drop rate on the sword seems to be lower than other NM drops. Patience and persistence are the key here. You will get them eventually, if you haven't already. Best of luck to you. ^^

I certainly could have, but without a THM tank it's more difficult and it gives you less opportunity to get the drop. But a THM tank is not by any means the only way.

That is completely, 100%, untrue. Emulate does not make THMs gods.

Wait, what? I hope you're joking. Goblin is laughably easy like everything else and a GLA can tank it with 1 healer with incredibly minimal effort.

wait, show me where I said THMs are gods?

My point is that with a THM tank, the THM basically only needs to use emulate and war drum and toss in an AOE DoT spell here and there while the other pt members can focus on breaking the arm. In as many times as I've fought bloatbelly and dodore, a THM tank has always been the easier way.

If anyone has an alternative Bloatbelly strategy to the two mentioned though, I'd love to hear it so I can give it a shot.

(Incoming wall of text. I apologize, but I need to get this stuff off my chest.)

There's really no strategy required, and I'm not sure what extra difficulties you guys have doing Gob without a THM tank. Unless you're snubbing all your LS's melee players, THM-tanking shouldn't even be helping on that fight, so the comment you made about it being "relatively" easier with a THM tank confused me. You'd need to cure the melee-range players when they get bomb tossed so your AoE cure would hit the tank anyway (the tiny amount of extra damage the goblins do to the tank with their puny melee attacks is inconsequential). The only problem I can even imagine having on Gob is if you have a Lancer with low VIT getting eaten by triple bomb toss/hail mary. To get around that you could either pull 1 braggadocio away from the group and kill it first, or your LNC could wait for 1 to be killed to engage (boring).

In my experience, even lowmanning, nothing special is required to get the incapacitation. In fact, pre-nerf we used to break EVERY body part in one fight. People like Meowy have much more experience than I do with doing stuff post-nerf, but the couple times I did it for kicks the incap still came easily with only 2 people working on it with plenty of time to spare. Are you using battle regimens?

I understand that THM tanking with overkill healing and ranged-only DPS "works" and maybe you guys are perfectly satisfied with that. I simply would love to see a higher level of play on Fabul and in FF14 in general because I'm worried about Square-Enix designing unchallenging content catered to the kinds of people who have become accustomed to using cheesy tactics as a crutch. I personally believe that if you encounter any difficulties tanking (any encounter, not just Gob) without emulate there's probably something seriously wrong with your tank or (more likely) your healing. Addressing that, rather than falling back on emulate, should be FAR more helpful in the long run and make you better prepared for future content.

Lastly, we did all these NMs before the nerf with fewer than 8 party members, with no silly "Comradery" buff, without using emulate, and we thought they were too easy. This is not a boast, because the difficulty was already too low to feel any pride about it. Most of us either stopped doing it or started doing it with as few people as possible to try to challenge ourselves. We cringe when we see people, for example, wiping to Dodore and then using the claim bug to keep it so they can recover and smash their face at it again until it dies. I hope you understand how incredibly frustrating it is to have watched the level of play go down and down, and that's why I care about this crap.

Raikki about sums it up right there. If the OP wants to use 2 Glads, 2 Lancers and 1 Archer and they're seeking advice, then give them advice pertaining to their situation. Don't tell them that Archers and THM tank is the way to go. For such an incredibly easy game, the classes you choose don't matter at all. He was simply asking about tactics, not party set up.

I can't wait for the day they nerf Emulate and Archers and eliminate the claim bug. You don't need any of them to kill anything in this game. Hopefully SE gets their shit in gear and realizes we don't want an easy game. And when they do, I know my shell is ready for it. Question is, is yours?
