Start of the fiscal year so yes technically still highly possible release in 2011.
I think we'll know more about PS3 launch and Versus XIII at E3 this year... early june
It's nice that people can remain optimistic.
I'm certainly enjoying FFXIV and looking forward to the upcoming changes.
However, I still have to ask -
Why do you all think these things? People are saying the code for PS3 is finished. It may have been at one point, but that may not apply now. Updating according to the changes taking place might not be a simple task. Plus, it might not even be a development issue. Sony may not want it after all that's happened.
People have all sorts of guesses as to when the PS3 version will launch, but I have no idea upon what basis they make those estimates.
SE told us they don't know when they are going to release PS3 version. They didn't announce it in projections. This supports that they don't know.
That is all it means.
Except they aren't all about the PC version right now. The PC version is out, but its slowly dying. Yes, the upcoming changes are supposed to bring some players back. But even with all the improvements, any addition of players will likely be slow, and the amount of active players and size of the community may not increase fast enough to satisfy players.
Hence why SE NEEDS the PS3 release. If the game is much improved, then they can market the heck out of the PS3 version, release it to the public, and hopefully a large number of players will all jump onboard at once on day one of the PS3 release, and the community as a whole gets a huge shot in the arm.
That's why the PS3 version will not be cancelled. SE cannot simply rely only on the PC version at this point it time. Also keep in mind that while the PC market is heavily competitive in terms of MMOs, one can't say the same for the console market, and as such the PS3 version can succeed if everything falls into place.
