Armourcraft: waste of time.

The people complaining here about the crafting have no idea how easy it is to level them especially if you use the repeatable leves or are just plain lazy and want everything handed to them. As already mentioned you need the cross skills of other disciplines to make those 2 star gear HQ which btw is more than slightly better than Darklight especially if you get all of them melded properly.

You're complaining about only being able to make gear for 2 classes? It's the same for other Disciples of Hand..

P.S.
When crafting anything, trying to HQ them will give more exp than normal. Submitting those HQ items you crafted for the repeatable quest will give 300% reward times 3. Doesn't get any easier than that

I worked really hard to get my armorsmith to the point where he could craft Darksteel gear. As i too hate the repetitve dungeon grind for tomes. BUt stupidly i didn't compare the stats to the Darklight gear before wasting my time.

Both have the obligatory stats for VIT and STR but the darklight gear rightly stats you for Parry next. The only item of Darksteel that carries Parry is the chest/head. The rest seems spread over skill speed and others. Skill speed being useless to a Paladin from all that i've read as it doesn't reduce the cooldown enough to replace Parry.

I suppose you cold materia for Parry but its never going to amount to as much as the Darklight gear.

Okay that was a bad joke...

Level your DoH classes to make good gear for your lower lvl friends. Unless you do it BEFORE lvling any DoW or DoM, it's pretty much a waste of time if all you're doing it for is yourself.

Crafting in ARR need a fix, somethings are very very wrong, in spite of that, I sold a lot of HQ armours and weapons. I earned more than 1M gils selling HQ food/jewelry/potions/weapons/armours.

Here's how I look at it... Right now its not the best / most useful, and to me that's fine. However, in the future I'm sure they are going to add more recipes and that is the part I am slowly getting ready for. Currently I've maxed out bsm, ltw, and cooking and now I am working on crp... And then weaving. That way, when new stuff comes out I will have already completed the hard work and will be able to craft the hot new gears. Besides, its not like I always have something to do in the game and this allows me constantly progress my dude.

The thing is, if you're a dilettante like I am, and like to have a little bit in several classes, the gear rewards quests run thin on the ground... and if you happen to level more than one thing to 50, you're going to be out of luck on the AF gear for the other classes. That's when crafted gear really comes in handy.
