Dun Scaith has a lot of these.
I got kicked from a party for having the AUDACITY to insist that our DRK main tank use darkside and something other than power slash combo.

Not a DF story, but a story nonetheless: Just did Bismarck EX for WT in a PF group. 2 Tanks, 1 Healer, 5 DPS. We get started...adds go down before Bismarck even slams the platform, Chitin breaks before I can get a second combo off, Snakes die fast, and we get to Phase 3...Nice! Then we draw Green and lose 2 DPS to it. NP, right, with the DPS we have we should be able to absolutely smoke the Corona anyway, right? Turns out they were our 2 highest DPS. We 2-shot the corona, barely. The cherry on top? One of our ranged wastes our limit break by not being on his back when using it.
A win is a win, tho, I guess. :)
I did post a reminder in chat about getting in the middle for green, and someone else mentioned that you had to be on the back to damage the Corona.

Husband was trying to farm a gordian gear to make a Faust dummy for our FC house, did about 20 runs over the weekend all the same way, no wipes, no issues (outside of only one gear). Next attempt, both healers die (usually indicates they were standing to close to each other) and blame hubby for using Sword oath instead of shield oath, which was irrelevant anyway because the DRK in the party was holding hate the entire fight until the wipe.
He gets vote kicked immediately after the first ever wipe he saw in that dungeon. Reported vote kick and verbal abuse, GM said they wasted his time and would look into it.
Very next attempt, plays exactly the same way, says nothing about it, gets 4 commendations.
People make us laugh when they blame others because they can't see when they are their own problem.
Was farming Sophia EX with 6 friends and a PF SCH who was.. like... i268...
They recognised my Healer glam as Ardyn Izunia from FF15 in the last run and all 7 of us lost our mind so hard we completely screwed everything up and nearly wiped towards the end of it were it not for the scholar...
No one ever recognised my glamour without me actually pointing out what it's supposed to be and why I'm wearing "a fedora"...(wipes single tear)
Did Weeping City for the first time yesterday. Now, I'm not gonna talk about how great I was and how much everyone else sucked, because really, I wasn't that great. I flubbed mechanics a few times, got surprised by a few AOEs... But really, I don't think I did too bad, I didn't mess anything up that could cause a wipe, so I consider that a win for a first-timer haha. But there was this one healer.
She was a SCH in our party, just barely met the ilvl. After the first 2 bosses (in which our team screwed up and died embarrassingly), this healer took it upon herself to ridicule and belittle everyone in our party in Alliance chat. Didn't try to offer tips or communicate to anyone in the party, just started bitching about being stuck with "the crap party full of newbies."
The sheer irony of the whole thing? People in the other Alliance parties were pointing out that the reason our team was doing crap was because of weak heals. We weren't getting healed through raid-wide damage, half the time when SCH went down (which was embarrassingly often), she forgot to resummon her damn fairy and just spammed physic on herself because she wasn't dodging mechanics either.
Now, I'm pretty patient when it comes to bad players, but when someone has the balls to be THAT toxic when they are PART OF THE PROBLEM just really gets to me. Honestly the whole experience just turned me off of that raid for life.
Edit: and yes, I'm aware there was another healer. He wasn't the strongest either, but I'm not going to hold it against him that he couldn't pick up the slack (we had one healer before that got fed up and left lmao). The big difference is that he kept at it, and didn't try to point fingers at anyone. Pretty sure the only party member that was on-point was a BLM named Olivia lol. (oh yeah, did I also mention party composition? DRK, SCH, AST, SMN (me), BLM, BLM, BLM, BLM).
Got to try Dun Scaith for the first time today, and it was so fun! There were so many deaths, I got to Astral Stasis so many times it was a dream come true for me ;_; ♥
3 DRK swords in four weeks of clears of A12S.
I find it simply fascinating that someone could make it all the way to Baelsar's Wall and still have absolutely no idea how to play their class at the most basic level.
Okay, so I queue in and right away I notice the dps seems incredibly slow. Tank can barely hold aggro, but whatever, that's the least of my concerns at that point. I don't have a parser, but MNK was just above ilvl and seemed to putting out good numbers as everything they targeted seemed to go down in a reasonable amount of time. So, I swing my attention over to the BLM...and dear sweet baby Jesus.
Fire 3 > Fire 3 > Fire 3 > Thunder 3 > Ley Lines> Enochain > Fire 3....wait...wait...wait...Blizzard 3 > Blizzard 3 > Thunder 3 > Flare. Didn't matter if it was a boss or a group of trash. That was pretty much her rotation throughout the whole thing. No
I wasn't even mad, just...baffled. It's one thing to not know how to properly use Enochain, but it's something else not being able to grasp your basic spells after clearing all the content up until now. Even if she just got carried thru PotD or something and that's how she got to 60, I feel like a simple browse of the tooltips would make it abundantly clear how those spells are meant to be used,
I dunno, it was super weird. I felt like I should have said something and ended this horrible cycle right then and there, but I honestly didn't even know where to begin. It's just one of those things where you pray that one day they catch on or someone with more patience than yourself comes around and offers to help.
Tonight was just a night of headache inducing runs for me.
Did leveling roulette and got Dzemael Darkhold. Run was going fine. But about halfway through the run the healer said he was having storms and his house was flooding. Ok then. I told him to stay safe. I tried to be patient but he didn't leave group so we had to kick him. Hope he's OK.
After that was over I decided to do Bis EX for WT. Found an unsynced party finder group. The bird dropped but I didn't get it. :(
So then I did 50 roulette. Got Amdapor Keep Hard. The healer was an AST who spammed Yu-Gi-Oh quotes every time he used his cards. Tank kept pulling very large groups of adds and kept dying. He kept pulling large groups and kept dying over and over again. First and second boss weren't the smoothest kills ever, but we one shot them. When we got to that demon wall part, Crash Down actually went off and everyone except the tank died. On the last boss, I managed to die because the Suppuration add wasn't killed fast enough and I got hit by the AOE he does. I was rezed and used LB to finish off the boss. I was so tempted to just not give anyone a commendation because I was so frustrated, but I gave it to the healer. And no, there was no first timer bonus.
Finally started on the last portion of Alexander (I know right how last patch is that?) and I just have to gush at how fun those fights are!! Had to spoil the mechanics for myself with a couple guides because I didn't feel like derping around too much figuring things out. Still have one more fight to go but then maintenance happened but now I got a super finale to look forward to once the servers are back up!
Cruise Chaser was such a blast even though I died a couple times ^^; I think a lack of sleep had me misjudging the actual range on some of the AoEs but we got through it! Major thanks to all those awesome DF people who were along for the ride!
DUN SCAITH CLEARS BE LIKE-
http://i.imgur.com/7R8x3av.jpg
That was my second time in there.
I've been queuing parties in progress and explaining mechanics to groups that have been struggling. Something I've found that helps a lot is putting markers down at opposite ends of the arena on the last boss to help people split and keep away from the alliance for prey and earthshakers.
Dzamael Darkhold. Me as WHM. We had a WAR who was new to the place so was goin kinda slow, ok with me. Right after the cliff part with the nixs. We beat the mobs directly AFTER that. The MCH we had died to the two crystal explosion aoes because he kept trying to race the tank to packs because he didnt like how slow we were goin. I made him lay there for a while and I admit, it felt good. I guess i was mean there. But i dont like it when non-tanks try to lead charges like that, it annoys me.
Dun Scaith last night. 45 min to get in. Two people dropped after 30 min bc it took so long. Dropped another person from Cross server party.
Really good run except for the SEVEN PIECES OF MONK GEAR
square pls
More of a public notice than a story but I've been seeing a TON of "A1S solo tank/heal" who refuse to let more than 1 tank in, out of 3 or 4 groups, 6 tank group I am currently running with is clearing a LOT faster than those 5/6 dps groups. xD Just found it quite hilarious that I got such toxic replies when asking nicely to join as a tank to dps only.
Tales of the "omg this tank"... in a good way for once!
Queued up for level 50 with like 24 minutes left before reset and get paired with two BLMs and a WAR while I'm playing WHM. We get into City of Amdapor and after waiting on shields, the Warrior bolts to grab everything. Little panic inducing since I'm still getting used to healing and almost never see massive pulls in 50 dungeons lately. Have to say, it's pretty much barely having a chance to do anything but spam healing spells because the tank's health is dropping at the blink of an eye. Anywho, we manage without any issues save for one bigger pull where I get paralyzed. Not having a chance to Esuna-- looking back, I probably did, but got a wee bit nervous at the tank's low HP -- I'm trying to spam heal him back up and stun happens. He rotates Thrill, Inner Beast and Holmgang perfectly until I get a chance to heal.
Didn't get any comms, but that tank was just a dream to work with. Why can't they all use cooldowns like that? ;-;
OK only a couple of days into the patch I know but I've done Dun Scaith 6 times.
First time cleared it with 35 minutes to spare. day 1 of patch. all 24 people got the achievement. (wipes on every boss)
Ssecond time cleared it with about 15 minutes to spare. only 3 got the achiement.
Third time prolly my worst run personally having cleared it twice I felt I was getting the timings down and was pushing my luck far to much on enochain so died a lot but cleared it. 4 got the achievement maybe 10 mins left on the clock
4th time literally had 2 minutes left when last boss died. NOBODY was new.
5th time I went with some fc mates but ran out of time because of maintance at last boss. we only had 10 minutes left anyway when servers went down.
Tonight though I went with the fc friends again as they still hadn't cleared it and I needed the aether for anima. Entered, a lot of ppl said they were new first time. 3 ppl said screw this with this many newbs and dropped straight away. reps pretty fast. wiped once on the first boss due to enrage. no wipes at all on second and third boss (admittedly only just). one wipe on the last boss. cleared duty with about 40 minutes left on the clock. and 14 people dinged the achievement.
Amusing how the 2 smoothest runs have been the ones crammed with first timers. especially when 3 ppl bailed straight away thinking we'd fail with this many new players. so if you're reading this and you were one of the newbies in that alliance "Good Job and grats"
Couple of days ago i joined DarkDzemel with my loladin. But i saw two bards as pugs then i said "fuck this shit, two bards man" and left the dungeon. I don't like bards, true story.
So I went ahead and queued up for Expert Roulette as an ilvl 246 DRK, just to see how I would do.
It was my 3rd time in Baelsar's Wall. Healer was a WHM.
We did fine, cleared it fast, I managed to hold on to aggro 95% of the time despite the fact that these 2 MNKs appeared to have about 15 ilvls on me.
The only problem with the run was the WHM constantly keeping all the mobs stunlocked.
I just... my Blood Price... I just wanted MP...
*weeps*
So i just had a fun run of Dun Scaith. Things were going well, first two bosses cleared without a wipe, get to the add between the second and third and people start dying because tanks weren't grabbing adds. Oh well. I start to hardcast Raise on a BLM who promptly went back to the start while I was raising (By his reaction he did this on purpose).
Again, this is the adds. Still not really an issue, except now we had half the party dead, the other half now locked out...
Then the BLM limits...
For a 'morale boost.'
So I call him out on it, and now both the DPS who had left while I was trying to clean things up are going after me for failing to heal them while the adds ate their faces off. When I ended up dying myself (Healer tunnel vision missed the Seduce spellcast into puddle and AoE), I had one of them again try to be snarky at me, saying I should be able to carry it.
It's just...I can't blame the DPS for tanks not grabbing adds, but to blame the healers for everything when you aren't even trying to dodge? Then leaving mid-raise and mocking me when I ask about it?
Busy these days, only finished unlocking the expert roulette and trial since patch 3.5.
The first day, queued for the wall. Tens of minutes later I entered in progress and saw there was only the final boss left. Team mates chatting like this:"Oh here is horrible""I'd never enter it again".Well, seemed we would have a hard time. Then yes, we wiped and wiped, during which the healer gave up. We recruited another healer, tried twice and got rid of the fucking Griffin. A bad beginning of the version, I couldn't believe a MSQ dungeon was like that.
Second day, Sohm Al. Another tens of minutes waiting, I entered, saw the tank said" Oh this is a horrible mistake pls kick me". Then he quit! ...Why dude? How did you come here? Were there any better choices if it was not Sohm Al? ...The following run was smooth, though the damage from mobs was a little too huge.
I asked other mates, is the new roulette horrible? They said no. So what happened to our server? What made the players so scared?...
I've encountered several people who've been using the new egi glamours to conceal that they're using Titan in duties. In like level 60 stuff with people who should know better.
It's confusing.
Healed Baelsar's Wall blind with ilvl 258 SCH. Fiancee tanked it blind with me.
Loved it. Only one person died through out the entire run (last boss) when he did the almost room wide AoE.
Fiancee and I got both 1 comm each. Would have commed all 3 for fun run if possible.
I think it's not good for people who enter a dungeon as first time using "enter in progress". However the DF UI was changed as updating, which has hidden the "enter in progress" option. That was why I didn't shut it and met a rough team as unlocking duty.
Just feel unpleasant about this change---is it necessary for SE to work on the DF appearance (with the result making options inconvenient)?
I got a funny story this time. So we qued for an EX run and I was the main tank, I started the countdown and well, this happened. Everybody was cool though.
http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/...017_231625.png
So my friend had three 41-50 PotD runs that all went horribly and failed before they could get through it, and I volunteer to help cause well, I like to help!!!
We work from 1-10, and finally make it to where they were having trouble, 41-50.
The group doesn't say much, but we work through pretty well until like 46ish. Someone pulled too much, I ran back to the group to help them, the other healer was having trouble. The NIN, not paying attention to the Knockback disabled debuff, used a manticore pomander...
I heal us to a good point and ask them to turn it off, because it was a waste of DPS.
They go on to say that rage still better than what they would do as NIN. They did 500 per as Manticore, and 200 per as NIN.
I am confused out of my mind because I was doing high 600 per hit with AST.
They go on to get snippy with me, I wish I had the log to post, but it was along the lines of "I don't have time to argue semantics with a AST that doesn't know how NIN works."
Well I very much do know how NIN works, and I know how RAGE works (More so than them obviously...) They should have been doing more than 500 per hit between auto attack and at LEAST two CD attacks in the time that one of those Rage swings went off. Rage is super slow.
They go on to pull even more, and I told them I do know how it works, they die, and their healer friend shortly die after.
They tell me "how about heal." and their friend is like "how about rez" and well.
I was about to leave, but this is my friends 4th try through. So I vote kicked the NIN. Like, why belittle me? I healed you through a really stupid mistake. Its one thing to not want to accept critiques, but then to belittle me?
How about have your friend heal you? Oh, they let you die, then died themselves? Maybe neither of you know how to do your jobs.
I only realized the other heals was with them because they began to not accept my rezs and MTed something into party chat.
They ended up leaving though, and me and my friend just did the remaining floors together, cept the last boss when a another DPS joined.
It was a little stressful, my aetherpool lvl on that character wasn't great, but I mean PotD is made to be soloable, I knew we could do it, and we three manned it pretty easily.
Saw potentially the most ridiculous reason for someone leaving a duty today, like I'm still a stumped xD
So been light farming, been in a few parties today having taken a few 10 minutes breaks here and there but I'm pretty much 70 runs in now back to back.
This one group I'm in finished a run, I've been in this group for A1S for maybe 15 runs at this point and suddenly one of the bards says "I'm out, I can't play with someone who doesn't know his job" and leaves :'D like what? First off who? I assume the other bard but who knows, secondly this isn't relevant content :/ like the group was no better or worse than any of the others I've been in, like no one was being carried through face roll content.
Replaced the vacant slot and resume farming xD
I had one goal today: Use the "new" PF to help someone through Nidhogg EX - no real reason for that, got my kill, got my bird, got the card even.
While some of those groups clearly baited with "quick kill" or "kill for a friend", I met a very... interesting dragoon and hes the reason I'm posting this now:
When we called out positions he claimed "NW tower" - not that I, as a tank, had already said I would take it - he was also a dragoon. When I mentioned that its normally healers and tanks taking the north side, he said he "never did it that way" and where to go then. Well, obviously a south position for dps?
...he picked "south", as in general... south.
What I really want to know now: Is there a different strat to do Nidhogg EX out there? He was from moggle in case that matters... But I really cant see any reason NOT to have healers and tanks go north (except, well, I guess it would be possible to just mirror the whole fight and have tanks and heals go south?)
@vidu bout nidhogg ex
There are some different strat over the french community that the healer take north and south for the jumps, and each dps are assigned to a tower, while tanks stand outside of tower getting ready for their healers.. since moogles have a lot of french, i guess that's why..
A french showed me this link asked similar question why not making all DPS stand on the tower..
https://youtu.be/LNx3Dc6Rrgc?t=6m34s
Damzel Darkhold, got a blm (yay, 1st room is gonna be easy!), grabbing all the garbage along the way like a usual run (im tanking), when we get to the end, the blm dies and i don't know how. He stays dead for like 30sec until i tell him 'Are you gonna respawn dude?' he replies 'I don't wanna be in a showboat' and leaves.
the 3 of us were baffle...a BLM that rage quits because we pulled the usual big group? lol, what is this..
Dun Scaith looks good for collecting Aetheric Density for my anima weapon.
But still have too much wipe. I generally enter in progress against Scathach. Well, I am still slow for avoid all aoe around and I also die a lot x.x
Go find/create an A1S farm group if you're trying to do your anima, lol. pretty sure dun scaith is less efficient.
