I mean it's one and the same thing - the more fantasia revenue they see, the more they can justify investing in appearance-related expenditures, which is an improvement to the product for us as consumers.

I feel like the popularity of viera in general did a good job of that. (Not sure how popular they will be when the hype of them dies down.) But it does make me wonder if SE is self-aware enough to know that most people like their game for the character design aspect/RP /fashion show than anything else. (Judging by the popularity of balmung, the "RP" server verses places like Gilgamesh which is considered a more raid orientated server.) If they knew this, I feel like they'd consider the status of male viera more heavily.
what happened over the last few days O_o
I'm just going to continue my support in this corner of Rah'tika looking for my gay bunny lover (my he loves playing hide and seek).
I hope SE keeps to the 1 neutral, 1 rugged, 1 youthful and 1 other face most the other races have, for body so long as it is not children-esqe(especially compared to females) i'll be fine with whatever.
It's the same as NPC romance, some people don't want it around because of who wants it. They'll try to couch it in "muh resources" but it's very transparent. Anything that fleshes out and gives credulity to a world in a game that heavily depends on theme, narrative, and immersion only benefits from it.

Our players have already greatly surpassed our expectations in many ways; they have taken the world of Final Fantasy 14 in as something that is both perpetual and natural. The reason I say it in this way is that players from around the world not only play the content we create, but also organize events and role-play on their own. One could say that many are taking residence in the world of FF14, which is changing what we need to provide — it is no longer just about creating content, but also simply providing a space to play within. I believe this is both a very strong and positive outcome for an MMORPG. The reaction toward battle mechanics and other specifics are a very small factor in comparison to this bigger picture.
Looks like they're aware about RPers
Let's see how long it takes them to "double down" on unlocking new race genders ;)
Don't this against the game lore and history?
See, you started off strong but now you're coming across as what I like to call 'The Petty Intelligent' - which kind of reminds me of someone with a fedora, and scoffs at everything that doesn't fit into their superior viewpoint of quality. Anyway, not everyone is here to RP. The more you harp on about ERP the more you end up just looking like a - well, I don't need to say it. I'm sure you know how it comes across, and I'm sure you know what you're doing.
Now if you said, 'This is okay with me, I'd rather they spent development elsewhere and my sub to help towards further development.' - you wouldn't have come across as the 'Petty Intelligent', who's just here to piddle on folks parade for your own amusement. But instead would have had an opinion and viewpoint that wouldn't have people just outright think you're being a butt.
Your catgirl is wearing the best 'not hat' I've ever seen.
Better, a counter-argument is what you class as real content might be completely different to what others class as real content. Also, I'm pretty sure that the team who works on race/lore and/or equipment is different to the said team who does content such as story/dungeon/trial/savage/ultimate and 'Eureka V#' and etc. I personally class it as an add-on, others, however, will class it as 'content.' Race has always had some tendency to matter in MMOs - it's where the money is - followed up by purchasable glam items. Your $15 doesn't make a splash in the neverending ocean that is the fantasia.
And finally.

Please stop painting everyone with the same brush. Not everyone wants to ERP a twink or RP at all, come to think about it. I fail to understand why some people struggle with understanding this. A desire for a specific glamour/race does not equal = THEY WANT TO ERP.

Ok see, this worries me a little bit, because it almost paints the idea that they might shift into Glamours and Aesthetics over Playable Content and improving mechanics for their game, which will spell doom in the future. When there is nothing to do and no reason to play, why am I playing $15 a Month for this game? Im not paying a subscription and Buying Expansions for RP or to play a DressUp simulator, we have SecondLife for that.
Im not talking down on Glamour, but I dont want this game to Focus on it to Heavily.
A game should be a game 1st and forthmost
I think they are mainly acknowledging that they have a heavy amount of RPers in game and that they are there for more than just content so they intend to expand upon that as well. I wouldn't worry about content being sacrificed for glamours and things like that, personally.
I wouldn't worry about that, honestly. I think that statement was just to let people know they plan to work on more than just playable content, because the idea of content varies from person to person. Per example to me is pointless to keep expanding on Blue Mage if the job is never gonna be changed into a regular one, but as long as there's people doing the Carnival thing it means it's content for someone. Not to mention they have different people working on different things. So battle team is not the same working on glamours and that kind of stuff.
Mate; I'm on Odin - not exactly RP central. If I ERPd I'd come out and say it and laugh. I don't. In all honestly, I find it extremely cringe-worthy. I'm not however going to put a stand-still and demand folks not have what they desire because I dislike a certain community - or a few obnoxious individuals.
Unless you've been sniffing in my post history where it says 'I write' - then you're taking what I write out of proportion. You might not have - I really hope you haven't actually because that's just 'lol' - but eh, best to cover my bases as never know with some folks.
But yes, you're right - they didn't specifically mention it. Only hint at it, strongly.

Beyond that, I'm interested in any more content they have. As long as there is a healthy balance between the RP community and those who are more driven towards dungeons, crafting and those who wish to min/max in savage and ultimates.
I in no way intended to insinuate that you ERP nor do I care if you do. It's not my cup of tea, but it's others. As far as their post goes, they didn't outright demand anything not be added (unless I missed that in a previous post, in which case I rescind this post). Their response to me about sparking joy can be interpreted a few ways, but everyone is allowed their own opinion. If theirs is that they don't want male viera in favor of other content, so be it. Just stroll on past it if you don't like it. Also, I tend not to post snoop unless it's needed. Right now it's definitely not needed.
That's good to know. Ah, no, I was discussing previous posts regarding this individual. Ones where they comment on the 'behaviour' of certain individuals on 'Catboys' and 'Hrothgar'. You are certainly right he didn't directly mention erp - or not from what I can remember and I have no desire to dive into their post history. But their past posts in this thread have shown that they simply do not wish for male Viera to exist due to behaviours shown by players who are specifically male Mi'qote and Hrothgar. It was their behaviour in what they were specifically doing in the game that drove them to such a viewpoint. From what was put across anyway, they might have meant something completely different and these behaviours was just something else entirely. For which I ask the question, if it's not erp or dressing flamboyantly etc - then what behaviours are bothering them where it's only the 'males' that have them wrinkle their nose and not the females? To the point they wish male Mi'qote to be removed entirely from the game or to have the age rating moved to [M]. If you're feeling adventerous you can go back and read their posts.
They could easily be written into the game. The viera's homelands are being destroyed by the empire and they are being rounded up and driven out into the open. The blokes arnt gunna be sat around in their tree houses if their people are in danger
Especially going into an expansion that will have no less than 2 ultimate fights, plus which has seen some really incredible trial and dungeon design so far. Their raid/trial/dungeon design is the very last thing I'd expect them to compromise.
It's not just RPers who like glamours, housing etc, though. A lot of the playerbase does.
I took it as him being too good for the story... Or story in general. Which I mean, is the pride of this game so I don't know, maybe he should go play wow where no one pays attention to the story because it's dumpster tier. It also fosters an environment that's conducive to insecure chronic parsers with mythic+. I can fathom that these arrogant players cling onto their social circle as it moves from one game to another and that's how they end up here but the ones who actually stay despite being unhappy without a new monthly raid can't make up a significant portion of the playerbase. In short, you can disregard his opinion.
Ah, I see. I haven't gone back to read any of their posts and I don't really care to. I'm not siding with or against them, just an onlooker making commentary. While I (jokingly) have agreed to the deletion of miqo'te, there's no actual hatred behind it and I would never expect SE to cater to such a thing. Removing assets like that from a game would cost them not only resources they don't have and money that could be best spent elsewhere, it would cost them fans. Yoshi P wouldn't put him or his team in those shoes. Honestly, it would be interesting to see what would happen if the game went to an M rating. I was already blown away by the unexpected amounts of blood this expansion. I wonder if things would only get darker? Speculation for another thread, I suppose. The only thing that irks me currently is the people attempting to make male viera out of females and that's strictly due to the fact that lore hasn't allowed us males yet. Every one I have seen has been overly feminine and extremely flamboyant, which bothers me to some extent due to the type of life they are hinted at having. This aside, I merely chose to not engage them and move on. It's simple enough and I would recommend the one wishing for no males to do the same. I'd rather have the males than the weird situation we have now.
Yeah this expansion was really dark, what with light zombies and strip clubs. And considering with the viera racial gear you can pretty much see the outline of their hoochies I am surprised it has not gotten an M rating yet. Things like STD's, prostitution and rape are mentioned too
Whenever someone talks to me about my male bun I always tell them that Yoshi forced my hand. Besides, people who want more effeminate men are always told to roll females anyway. :p
I don't think people are protesting with their bootleg bunny boys or anything tho, we're just playing the cards we were dealt. If anything it's pretty interesting how far people will go to improvise.
I don't really care if it's in protest or not, but to me it's not lore abiding and therefore, in RP scenarios, will be ignored by myself. You're free to do whatever you like with your character, whether I approve or not. I just won't be engaging or accepting the character as male. Live and let live.
Now I am highly curious to see what other people did to make their bunny boys. I know one user gave theirs a mustache. How did they do that? I didn't even know such an item existed in game.
Ok, changed my mind, bring in male Viera. After being attacked in messages for not using a male pronoun on a female Viera who wore a stupid looking mustache, bring in male Viera so I don't have to suffer fools like this. All I said was that they had a unique look, but she looked kinda cute. That set them off.
So, bring on Male Viera, lore be damned. Let the weirdos have their crap.
