All Greed on Alliance loot

I ran Ridorana lighthouse as a tank and the entire raid only a mix between Nin, Brd and Sam gear dropped. After the very last boss some tank gloves drop and a BLM walks away with it. A hour and a half just for gear to go to someone who doesn't even have a lvl70 tank.

Personally I feel that if you want to gear your class then go do the raid on that class and earn your gear. Horrible changes and I won't be running it as a tank anymore. Time to queue as dps and loot all the tank gear.

I'm to the point I'm not running this at all anymore...

and I really like the 24 mans....but this is just getting silly

The question for E3 is nearing 100 likes, so even though they have yet to undo this mess we better get a response there. If they decide not to answering it despite it drowning all other questions for amounts of likes it will show a massive disconnect between them and their playerbase.

I personally like it, but I think a new model would be preferable.

At least we should get some sort of token that we can trade for specific item

Just lost heal pants to a BLM. Who thought this garbage was a good idea again?

Exactly this. So many games have a better loot system, Tera included.
A new loot system is very much needed (has been for sometime) and this game would be great again depending how it would be implemented

To be honest, this isn't a new thing, they have done this horrible "greed only" thing before with the Diadem. Everyone hated it then, and everyone hates it now. (except the very few that do like it I guess). Why they brought it back after backlash they got the first time, I have no idea. They have not learned from their past mistakes.

Sadly that's SE in a nutshell. See: single scenario servers in SB. Same thing happened in HW. They love creating "fixes" to problems that don't exist.

Also, if the Japanese player base want this then fine implement it on Japanese Servers. The NA players do NOT like this change.

Oh well. I actually liked it for the brand new raid, though I think it's a bad idea on old ones where there's no limit and everyone can roll on everything.

Greed-only in Alliance Raids is a massive disappointment I have from patch 4.3. Collecting the new sets is very important to me but without being able to need, it becomes almost impossible to get the pieces I want in a timely manner and I had to give up Ridorana Lighthouse and all other Alliance Raids completely, even though I used to do them many times a week with the option to need.

Without the option to need, I have almost no reason to do the Alliance Raids. It's like cutting the end-game content in half for me. Glamour from older raids is also very important.

Glad to see our feedback was received so quickly Yoshi. I don't think players would have minded if it was just in previous expansion raids, but for the current expansion's 24 man it was somewhere between annoying to a downright frustration for lower iLevel players wanting to catch up. That said the need system is a very much "if it ain't broke don't fix it" sort of thing in my opinion. Perhaps allowing players to choose between a loot drop or a loot token every week may be the way to go. Using a turn in system similar to the 8-mans, but with lower turn in requirements. Such as 2 for a body piece etc. That way players can grind the raid if they really want a gear piece as soon as possible (during that week), but can also have the option of gearing at their own pace or getting glamour pieces they want.

Glad you saw what a horrible mistake that decision was and you fixed it relatively fast.
If you wanna make players run the content for longer add token system and extra rewards obtainable with tokens (like housing items, minions, extra glamours).
The gear must stay just like it is with 1 item per week obtainable via Need/Greed system.

I think its great that you folks are reverting the loot rules somewhat on the quicker side, but honestly, this whole thing could have been avoided if feedback was asked for before deciding to make the change, because the outcry began as early as when we learned of it from the Live Letter- but the change happened anyway. Ever since 4.3 went live, there predictably has been overwhelming negative feedback.


I hope this gets asked in the upcoming E3 Letter, but I still want to know the exact reason(s) why a decision was made to suddenly change the loot rules amongst the dev team with seemingly no chance to prevent it in the first place based on player feedback.

They made their reasoning clear a while back. They saw that some players were trying to gear up their alts, but could not get into Alliance Raids on those alts, due to ilevel restrictions. Since they created Alliance Raids with the primary purpose of allowing players to gear up their alts, they saw this as a problem. They made the Alliance Raid loot Greed only so that those players could enter Alliance Raids on their main class and roll for gear for their alt classes.

If it's past the ilvl required, it can clear the content. If that ilvl is not good enough for the content, we're dealing with a different problem.

Oh my gosh, finally. This shouldn't have been implemented in the first place because of the amount of people yelling no, but I'm glad we're getting Need back. Now I don't have to deal with roll trolls anymore.

So that's the official reason then? Not that they actively wanted players to be encouraged to run the content on their best geared-up job for "smoother runs?" Interesting.

Regardless, I find entirely adjusting the loot rules... to accommodate some players who have alt jobs that don't meet the generously low ilvl requirement (with several outlets to increase their ilvl beyond 335 well before 4.3) who feel that players utilizing "Need" somehow suddenly being a problem... to be an incredibly biased form of coddling.

I wonder what the loot system is like over in Japan. Does anyone know if they prefer the new or old system?

Can't wait to have to do it ten times as a healer and let people die because I'm not great (and not being able to change role) to even see what I want drop, and then lose it to my co-healer anyway.
Clearly the best loot system.

... I can't see why people would be happy with that. Instead of trying to make another system adapted to the 24-raids, they are defaulting to the old flawed one just to provide people with the "Need" button. That's super lazy. There was tons of ideas on how to make a proper loot system for both old uncapped raids, and the newest one with the weekly lockout. But no. It'd have been too much work, I guess.

They have the same system as us in everything. Just like our side on the all greed change, there were many in the no department while few liked the idea.
