Imagine being chased through a city by an angry Omega Weapon lol

Lol finished FF mode and this is like the first action game I've played where I literally never died once. What a joke. I even died more in Kirby
It's odd that TC mentioned God of War as the latest one was the easiest entry in its franchise.
It's a real shame. Even during the marketing phase, I saw many people offer feedback relating to how easy the combat looked. Then the demo launched and proved those concerns right. Yoshi-P doesn't seem to grasp that his preferred target audience of players who do not want any challenge whatsoever is not actually all that big a demographic in the first place.
Thankfully there's been a lot of great games this year. Dead Space's remake, Baldur's Gate 3 and Tears of the Kingdom. I won't say I absolutely hated FFXVI since I didn't - though it's very much a case of missed potential on many fronts and I doubt I'll ever go back to it in the same way I did with some of the older games.
Unless yoship turns FF into a first-person shooter he'll never get these "new generation" players they've been chasing since FFXIII. That made up demographic they're chasing doesn't exist.
Funny how he thinks this new young generation will sit through 20 minutes of cutscenes.
Let's be real, he's out of touch. If anything needs new blood it's the FF team itself.
Thing is. I'm fairly certain a majority of the negative reactions to FFXVI wouldn't have happened had the game at least retained the majority of genre staple mechanics the series had in it's past titles excluding this one such as importance of element types, damage types, status effects, etc. While also providing players with far more diverse options for gearing other than 2 stat stickers + 3 accessory slots that can be used for relatively minor effects with a couple exclusions or the enabling of combat is now a cutscene where you just keep mashing X mode. Though the attempted copying of western fantasy storytelling would have still generated a fair amount. Ultimately the thing hurting FFXVI the most is the fact that so much if not the majority of the FF franchise's long term fan base felt betrayed or discarded by the entry which threw away everything related to the JRPG genre in favor of an action game copying the play style of DMC and Bayonetta with a story that attempted copying popular western fantasy books/tv shows. Sure. They made a game that gained attention of people who never played a Final Fantasy game before. However you lost so much of the original market of your players in the process which has basically resulted in the FF franchise taking a hit and SE taking another hit to add to the ones it's already suffered from other titles that failed to perform as they'd hoped.
