Dark Knight Megathread

Welp guess I'm hanging up my greatsword for another expansion.. I got it to 80 and didn't touch it again.. looks like I'm doing the same for 90..

It's really unfortunate that they've effectively killed the DRK.. making it WAR lite was the end of the road for it.

What did DRK do to even deserve this man...?

Because among casual players that job design that has seemed so lackluster to veterans is so much more thrilling than DRK's former iterations, let alone its competing jobs in role?

I don't think this one can be blamed merely on the existence of casual players, mate.

Casual and semi-hardcore players are literally more upset about DRK than hardcore players are.

Judging only from the job actions trailer, it looks slightly disappointing. It's sad for me to say that my main 2 jobs (MNK and DRK) aren't looking much better, but at least Monk seems to be getting something.

Looks like the Delirium spam was removed but this was heavily disappointing.

All the new skills presented aside from upgraded Salted Earth are.. (unless that itself is a rework) undermining. No second combo, no dot from what I can see, I'm sad but I expected nothing to be honest.

Inner Delirium still seems the same as Warriors counterpart, same in 6.0 just as 5.x was. I didn't see any new spells or weaponskills either, all seem to be abilities. That means we still gonna press the same 4 GCD buttons (on single target) for 3 expansions now...

Salted earth and its new burst action(?) is so obviously bound to fail, I really wonder what the dev team was even thinking... ground target aoes are already bad, many encounters have so many auto-moving targets, jumping from left to right. Now imagine an ability that you need to use on CD to deal optimal damage, but just as you place that damn thing, and trigger its burst, the target jumps out of it. Freaking great design right there! Encounter and action design seem to be completely disconnect when it's about DRK. Unless salted is gonna move with you around yourself, but we can't even confirm this because the DRK in the trailer is completely stationary.

No haste; blood weapon also seems still unchanged; (new?) Flood is now triggered after Edge; Delirium still the same with a simple, petty adjustment to 60s CD; Fray, useless Darkside gauge, SE-combo, Bloodspiller, Abyssal Drain, CnS, all still unchanged from 5.0, lame as always...

The ONLY CHANGES we have seen is something like a double TBN, an action tied to salted earth (probably the worst ability on DRK rn), and a Flood trigger after Edge!
"Oh, but they said Fray learns new abilities as we learn them" - the Living Shadow duration is still UNCHANGED, it just replaces an old ability with a new one. Whether this will do more dmg or not is still unclear!

The dev team is vehemently walking down their one-way path in the wrong direction, they are not even trying. Get some staff for the design team and get back to the draft board!

(and don't even get me started on warrior, I am mad as hell!)

To be honest they gave so much focus to everything but DRK. To me all of these actions look like a constipated person stuck on one spot, afraid to move. Why would a frickin greatsword user shoot beams out of their sword and not swing it around instead? This job is laziness in all things considered. Reaper looks 1000 times better and I'm sure that is no coincidence

Are some of you blind or dumb? First that was not an upgrade of Flood of shadows that was a total new skill. It doesn't increase DS duration and its a follow up of edge of shadow
2nd he uses flood of shadow at 4:29

And 3rd the black bubbles he uses during salted earth is salted earth follow up.

So you mean more of the same crap with new animations? Obviously everyone gets new things, but DRK core gameplay is the same: slow, too simple and boring once you get acustomed to the luster of the shiny animations.

Seems DRK has become the Monk tank version: Aka look forward for the rework in X expansions later (and im still hesitant to call the new monk version a success, looks okayish at best gotta try it)
