Translations (JP to English)

Personally, I wish they never did the over haul. But I'd rather have very few choices than have to scroll through our unsortable Market Wards trying to find a half decent piece that I can attach materia to.

Thats true I suppose, I just feel that gear and armour should be high up on their list of things to do, its a big part of why people play these games.

Because we do have a half implemented crafting system. There are a lot of gaps. My example is DoLs 20-30. If it weren't for dated items I wouldn't have been able to gear my MNR/BTN.

Ugh, really? I just want them to phase out the dated crap already. It's confusing as heck to have two generations of recipes coexisting.

I'm not sure why we lost so many options when it comes to the new equipment in the first place. I struggle to find a relevant item in the new system that corresponds with my class/lvl because they're so sparse. Just copy/paste the old designs or something. Some of my favorite dated gear (leather calot, anyone?) doesn't even exist in the new recipes.

Grr, just frustrating. Was hoping 1.20 would be the end of it.

This is not true at all, I have geared both my DoL's with new gear, sure its not leather stuff but there are cloth alternatives with pretty good stats on.

There aren't as many holes in gear as people seem to think you just have to look elsewhere, like in the case above not looking at dodoskin jerkin and collutes.

I suggest anyone to use the gear finder on FFXIV-DB, im sure you will see there are plenty of alternatives.

Reinheart makes a good point.

For low level crafting dated is almost the only choice...

Also bear in mind they are (supposedly) keeping tabs on what gear people are mostly making and what gear people are mostly using... if they discover that alot of people are using dated to grind they might rethink some of the changes to recipes... or hopefully they notice the complete lack of non-dated crafting gear for 1-16 and convert some of those dated recipes...

Dated recipes hurt nobody, wtf are you people smoking?

Maybe the itemization overhaul could have come later once they had 'more' recipes and items to implement. Hey, that can be applied to every goddamn change in this game every since 1.18. Maybe they should have waited until 2.0 to implement anything. But that would mean no patches? Another reason to BAAWWW.

I guess this is just another reason to shake my head and sigh.

Well then, my statement is a testament to how crapy the ward system is. In spite of all my research -- which was difficult enough because of a lack of an official database -- I didn't know some of those items existed because people weren't selling them on the wards.

Use weathered gear for 1-10 and these for 11-20.

Part the problem is that people are still using the dated recipes and gear so aren't looking for new alternatives.
