This, IMO, is something the DPS should be helping you with, too. If I see something attacking the healer, that takes priority. It's better for the group if I'm the one leading that monster back to the tank, rather than the healer doing it.
Glad you liked that, Tinythinker!
I queued for the Arboretum (Hard) tonight for a first run.
Got a DRK. Large pulls...
(p~a~p~e~r ?!?)
...and it was no problem. DRK was awesome. Health never did the big(gish) dip I see 95%+ of the time. And I only "messed up" on the second pull because sound and animations cut out. Happened a couple of weeks ago too near the start of Hell's Lid on a trash pull. No one died, but I think I got charmed by a mob using the floating eye.
Anyway, everyone did mechanics properly so minimal heals. Things died fast. Even a nice caster LB on a big group of trash.
Did I mention the awesome DRK?
Also got the only drop in the place that offered an i-level increase - Royal Volunteer's Ring of Healing. Bumped me from 366 to 367 :)
I did my Expert Roulette as Warrior and got Arboretum (Hard). My teammates were WHM, BLM, and RDM.
WHM didn't do much dps, but kept me alive during big pulls.
RDM did Scatter AOEs during the big pulls.
The BLM, however, did the single target Fire IVs on nearly every pull.
Although the run went smoothly, it still took 21-25 minutes to clear the dungeon for the roulette (compared to the usual 15-20 minutes in most of my Expert Roulettes runs during patch 4.4.)
This is my Kryptonite. If you see a billion adds, I don't care if you can't spam Flare, Fire II is a dps buff over Fire IV for 4+ enemies. And at level 70 there is no reason to not spam the heck out of Flare. I mean I know that 300 potency is nice but 80 potency per enemy on a million adds is a lot more damage. Why are people like this ; ;
Friend requests make me incredibly nervous. Queued up as NIN for a quick and easy run in Halatali HM and met some really wonderful players. More often than not, I try to remain as friendly as possible, but I will also go out of my way to keep a completely low profile (other than Eureka because sometimes, you need to communicate). These folks...the DRK, the BRD, the SCH...
They just randomly struck up a conversation with me. In the 15 minutes we were there, we chatted about 4.5, to pizza, to even a brief role-play - something I'd never even gotten into. So to the three from Adamantoise that actually managed to get me out of my shell, thank you. It was a joy running with you guys and one of my most smoothest dungeon experiences ever.
...friend requests still make me very nervous though. I like the little bubble I built for myself, but I'll give it a shot.
That's so cute. I love these stories and I wish I met more people like that. The social dimension of the game seems to disappear sometimes, and I like to be reminded that there are people behind thoses characters, making jokes, chatting a bit, talking about burning lalafells. I really enjoy these moments, and it's such a good compensation for the (very few) times I met agressive and evil people.
Just had a level70 everything healing my alt in a leveling roulette that apparently took a recent Reddit thread to heart too much...and refused to do anything other than cast Cure the entirety of Tam-Tara Deepcroft. As the tank, I pulled more (figured at least keep it interesting for them, right?). They responded by deciding to no longer heal at all and just completely AFK. I died twice, the ninja died once, and the so-called "healer" died twice (but the arcanist survived the entire time).
Thanks lv70 everything mentor from Balmung. You know who you are. That's why we vote dismissed you right before the last boss.
Oh, and we cleared the last boss with just the 3 of us and no healer. Shoutout to the ninja and arcanist who made this possible.
