Oh. Neptune it's so funny that you say I need to be convinced if this jump is ever to be implemented. Look up at my posts! I said yes they can bring in jumping! I also said that it needs to be converted to only as a collision detection model. (Rawry you know what this means now!) So why is it that everyone is still butt hurt when they get disagreed with? I asked anyone to post five plausible reasons why a jump should be manually integrated, and nobody has given me more than one. And that was Gifthorse. So at least we know Gifthorse has an I.Q bigger than yours, Neptune!

Just about everyone I talk to on Selbina shares the same fear of jump-spam. I guess one could blame WoW's chronic misuse of the feature as the base of this fear. And from the maturity level I've observed on these forums, I don't think I can trust the players to not do the same. And knowing that alot of these people have a background in FFXI brings me some amount of shame. Just my two cents.

All in all, I'm not trolling or anything, just wishing to avoid a possible atmosphere-detracting annoyance. Simple pre-emption. I have faith in the devs to consider all pros/cons and choose what will suit the game the best.

I've been playing wow for 5+ years and have never seen anyone "spam jump" Ive definitely NEVER seen a group of ppl just standing there hitting the space bar repeatedly. lol.. im sorry.. but that's just silly.

I find it more than a little hilarious that people speak of "Jumping not being part of Final Fantasy games."

Have these people played any Final Fantasy games in the last few years? Watched any of the movies? The characters are basically superhero athletes that can run up the side of buildings. Not being able to jump is silly and archaic, and frankly a little disturbing. The only thing "jumping is not part of," is Final Fantasy XI. And good riddance. This isn't that game, doesn't need to be. Adding a Z-Axis can make content fun and refreshing. Whereas being completely landlocked like a tank feels stiff and cumbersome.

There is no counterargument that isn't completely superfluous. I don't know what game you people played that involved people jumping around to such extremes as to ruin your raging RP hard-on, but I've never seen it. Seriously. I mean good lord, this shouldn't even be a thread.

Issachar has a perfectly good reason to worry. People get bored. You said so yourself, Rawry, that you see a lot of /emote strolling around through the chat logs. If people are so bored that they'll slap up /emote then what makes you think they wouldn't do the same with jump? Please in your next post though, try and refrain from pulling away from the subject by interjecting scornful remarks to make yourself seem more elaborate.

Please read through at least a quarter of the forum before posting. You'll find that many people don't wish to just simply not implement the jump feature, but also find other ways in which to promote a Z-Axis point of exploration. Another thread over this topic is "Swimming and underwater content."

It being silly, in itself, is an opinion. I've witnessed plenty of it myself across numerous servers and, while I don't play anymore, I can safely say that claiming it doesn't happen is nothing short of fallacy. Not that EVERYONE does it, but even a few people here and there is still annoying and detracting.

As far as emote spamming goes: yeah, it happens. Happened in XI too. But it doesn't involve people playing hopscotch down to Camp Tranquil. Nothing as intrusive as that.

We're talking about people jumping out of boredom and how seeing it makes it rather annoying. Now before you try and go off on this post, do me a favor and stop thinking of yourself for a minute. Here's a suggestion when it comes to your /emote problem. There are chat logs you can filter out that doesn't show them. I guess if you didn't complain about it as much you would notice.

Can you tell me how I can filter out seeing people jumping while I'm running to town? You know simply I don't give a hoot about implementing jump. Frankly if you'd pay close enough attention, numbnuts, you'll notice that the only thing I have against jump is the simple lack of depth it has in adding more exploration to the game. It can be used to scale small hills, yes, and jump small gaps. Anything else? No.

Now are you still going to post about how it should be implemented with some logical points of view? Or are you going to contradict yourself by doing exactly what you're saying I'm doing?

Hey. Idiot. Did you bother to read the whole post, or just the portion that got your panties in a twist? If you'll read it again, you'll see that I'm stating the facts of what people think about the jumping feature as far as being used as an act of spamming or boredom, (Me being one of them) THEN I'm telling YOU that I think Jump has little to no depth when it comes to implementing it as a manual action.

And if you'd bother to look at this post even more, you'll see that I also state some points in your favor. However these points did not seem enough cause for a manually jump introduction into the movement mechanics of the game. Even further on you'll notice that I did in fact state that you would do this. Not list anything else in your favor to help your rebuttal, but yet rather contradict yourself as you said I do.

Maybe you should be looking in the mirror when it comes to finding who's intellegence is lower. So far I've seen that Issachar and I have made points in our defense about this topic. Where is yours?

It kinda ruins my immersion NOT being able to jump.

i have been reading this thread on and off for the past couple of hours and i have seen kimarhi come up with examples to explain his views and other people have explained their views and i must say that you are hindering this discussion because i have yet to see a good example from you. i think it shouldnt be put in game since all everyone is doing is complaining about it and not accepting both sides of a discussion. this has become a fight over nothing and only one i now see still trying to start up stuff is this rawry guy and i think he should be banned from this discussion if he still keeps this up.

Um what can i say that I havn't already said? Ive stated why I would like them to implement a free jump feature. I think that being able to Jump up, climb over, scale or perhaps pole vault over a hill or obstacle would be much faster and and easier then having to walk 5 minutes around it. Ive also stated that to me being able to jump makes me feel less restricted... not to mention it just looks cool. Now if you don't agree with me thats perfectly fine. That is your opinion. But to imply that i was/am the only one keeping this going is crap. :) This was never a debate for me.. I could care less what you guys think of my opinion. Sorry to say..but you guys arnt the Devs.

I know how it is as a moderator haha -- Sadly this is one of the most heated debates when it comes to XI/XIV.
