I'm fine with not having visitors if it means that people get the chance to have a home.
I don't have visitors at my house anyway... the wards are spookily quiet.
I'll sign. There is a huge population in this game currently and very few houses to support that many players. Adding more wards would not decrease "visitors" coming to previous wards. Every ward is full currently and you are already seeing as many visitors and neighbors as possible right now. Adding more wards is only beneficial to both new and veteran players.
Need... More... Houses
Signed as the player base grow so should ther ward like more then 18 clearly they need it and to limit it to one fc home and one home
Not signed.
Not because I'm against more housing, or fixes. But because adding more wards won't fix the issue. It will only make the problems we already have even worse. The problems need to be solved before any notable foot forward can land on solid ground and right now, with several servers (Most of them high-pop, to my knowledge) having monopoly-FCs and House-flippers (That havent been banned yet, despite it being a violation.) only dominating, because people are resorting to just botting, automating or some other form of underhanded trick to try and get an edge.
And some of them even gloat about the underhandedness. It's pretty dumb.

I'd be perfectly fine with instanced housing.
That is a load of bull, stop making excuses for lazy devs. I've seen other MMO do way more for housing and those games run on potato servers. Also if they wanted people in houses why put a timer? Especially an RNG timer? Put the timer on the damn placard so everyone has a chance of buying. Enough of this bs that promotes botting and RMT through plot flipping. The devs shot themselves in the food and STILL refuse tk admit it thier fault and STILL wont fix it. Apartment were a slap in the face when instead they should jave done instanced housing. "We know you guys want houses but here are apartments instead.....". Really? The conplaint of server bloat is also bs due to the fact they keep implementing thinga that would only make the servers stained even more. The entire data center barrier removal will a cluster f. Because of this reason. Let's not forget you can't have 2 people with the same name on one server, so what is going to happen when you merge worlds together and 5 people have the same name all on the same server? Knowing how they "fix" things (RNG dice roll) 4 people are forced into name changes while 1 get to keep it.
But back to housing thier fix to it is rather have thier players pass out due to sleep deprivation because they can't fix something incredibly easy!
Again if it's an issue why hasn't it been fixed? Timers are what is killing the ability to buy and literally killing players with sleep deprivation. If I was in charge timers would have been gone as soon as I hear any player needed to camp up for 2 days for something when the fix would be to put the damn timer on the placard.
Because they need time to develop new systems for housing that will take care of the issues that players have been discussing, perhaps? They can't just add things on a whim. They have to take into account effects on the existing game and increased server loads.
The game isn't killing anyone with sleep deprivation. Stop being overly dramatic. It doesn't help the situation.
They hinted at the NA FanFest that some new housing is coming this expansion and it's tied to the Ishgard Reconstruction. Considering that's going to come with 5.1, we can hope that housing will be one of the topics in their 5.1 live letter.
We know they've been working on a way to have what's happening in common areas be visible from instanced areas. YoshiP went into a lot of detail about the process during the EU FanFest Q&A when he answered the question about why mansion balcony doors don't work.
At the end of one of their streams in June they acknowledged player concerns with housing availability and said they were going to be internally discussing what to do about it after Shadowbringers had launched.
Players have noted how much bigger the Crystarium "inn rooms" are and that they reflect weather and time of day in the skybox.
Put these things together and there's hope they've been trying to develop an instanced system that will let every player have a house, or at least a much larger apartment, while keeping the feeling of the ward neighborhoods and the ability to garden. Or maybe they're just going to add Ishgard wards and hope that takes care of things for a while.
Like other game developers, they've learned not to say too much to players because too many have a tendency to take "we hope to" statements as "set in stone promise".
I'll go with instanced housing, in the form of improved apartments, that can be readilly purchased by players, with wide customizable apartment space having an outdoor instanced balcony (kinda like the one in eulmore upperdeck)which follows in game time and weather, and allows large scale gardening. The apartment courtyard will be massive with all sorts of npc merchants, mb, and summoning bell. (Kinda like the wide crystarium open space going to the crystal exarch's occular).
The housing districts and ward system can still be continued as somewhat a rare resource for those who want to compete for a plot. Hopefully housing districts will also have some improvements to its neighborhood aesthetics.
Name those MMOs that spend a lot of resources on housing. Wait, they all got shut down after 1 or 2 years
ESO is still alive ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ESO's housing is really good with minimal effort, Squeenix could take some ideas from it
Wild Star's housing was primo. Too bad their elite raiding chased away all the casual players because the quests for the most part were fun. SE may chase casuals away due to catering to elite streamers rather than satisfying the majority by tending to hunts, housing, etc.
Best housing I've seen so far is in Rift. I just love the Dimensions there and what you can do with 'em.
there is no reason a company as big as this shouldn't have instance housing. Everquest 2 a game that was made in 2004 had instanced housing at the beginning and added instanced guild halls later.
it takes nothing away from the game and the only people that would be upset by instance housing are those that like the exclusivity that comes with having a house.
Aren't FFXIV's housing wards technically instances, just permanent ones?
Aren't all FFXIV housing INTERIORS instanced?
If so, there's your answer - FFXIV in 2019 has instanced exteriors (wards) and instanced interiors. EQ2 only has instanced interiors. (Disclaimer, I played EQ2 way back then, but not long enough to afford anything besides the initial "inn room"; apartment, if you will)
Instances are loaded on player entry and close when all players who had been in the instance exit it (or get booted by the timer).
Wards are not instanced. They are always active regardless of whether any players are present just like the open world zones (assuming the servers aren't down for maintenance).
Interiors of houses are instanced, though, just as apartments and FC rooms are. But because the house interiors are tied to specific plots in the non-instanced wards, it's effectively a non-instanced system. If they were entirely instanced, we wouldn't need the limitation on number of houses per world we currently have.
I started this week and I thought that the game offered housing, which I have always loved, it was what kept me in EQ2 for so long tbh. I was very dissapointed to find out the sad state of affairs here though. There literally is no excuse... In a game that uses instanced neighbourhoods, there should be no limit to availability past SE's willingness to invest in this part of the game.
They clearly just don't think that housing is a deal breaker for some, or at least not enough to spend money on it.
My thought though is when it comes to this every person paying the same sub should be able to access the same service.
So, yes, signed. Housing being available will be the difference in me staying past my first month. If it isn't available because SE simply choose to not make it available, and yet still want to charge me the same sub, then I will take my money and time elsewhere. I won't lie, it kinda burned me to be taken to the housing via a questline and then find out I can't access it... Talk about rubbing a newbie's nose in it. It wasn't a brilliant early impression.
Housing is available to you once you reach the purchase requirements (level 50, rank of Second Lieutenant with your Grand Company). Apartments are available on every world, though you may have to cruise through a few wards before finding one on the congested worlds. You may have to wait for a house to become available on NA worlds if you'd rather have a house than an apartment. Some EU and many JP worlds have multiple houses available right now if you're willing to transfer.
If you're not enjoying the rest of the game enough to stick around without a house, owning a house isn't going to change things. You might as well look for a new game now.
This petition was started 2 yrs ago. They really paid attention...lol
Oh, is that free?
Let me guess, you have a minimum of two houses.
Imagine running block for a corperation like this against fellow customers that have a reasonable and legitimate issue.
It isn't your place or right to dictate to me how important having access to a house in this game is. But, yep, I may well look for a new game. Archeage is starting a new business model version with no P2W and guaranteed housing for all, I will probably go there. What a shame though that people who probably claim to love this game would rather see new players leave than fix this.
But they did listen. This was started in Oct 2017. SE increased the number of wards from 12 to 18 in January 2018.
It did temporarily solve the problem on most worlds. Until November of last year, there were a relatively small number of worlds that didn't have plots freely available. But it ended up a temporary as the player base swelled faster than SE expected with the positive response to the Shadowbringers previews and decline in other MMOs getting new players to try the game.
The developers have already told us several times that adding new wards is problematic because of the way the system works. Right now, NA is the only region lacking available plots. There are worlds on the EU and JP data centers that do have plots available. SE has to expand wards on all world equally with the way they're programmed so adding more to help NA would leave mostly empty wards in the other regions.
They are encouraging players to make use of apartments, which are housing regardless of the narrow definition some players want to use. They have told us they're looking into making alts automatically tenants of house owned by another character on the same account and same world. They've been discussing adding in new size options for apartments. But the x.1 patch seems to be when they have the biggest news for housing so here's to hoping we get some positive news for this one.
IDC about 'temp' band aids. Increase the service to meet the demand of paying customers, or create bad feeling with those customers. MMORPGs are all about player retention, everyone, them and the other players, should care about that. You should care about that, not be saying "if you don't like it, leave".
Well, if that is a solution, is a xfer free? You didn't answer.
Well, let us hope so. The tenants idea is good. Too many older players have multiple properties (and then come here to tell us without that it's all good, it's not a big part of the game, and not to complain...), which clearly just breeds bad feeling and resentment. These things should not be encouraged by bad design and slow response to fix in a game that people do for fun.
When is this update due, do you know?
They added some wards along the way but they can never add enough for demand. Instanced housing with no neighborhoods except FCs is the only viable solution. I have 1 house and 1 apt period. My alts are in a FC. I'd like to see alts be able to reside with my main.
They can't cater to everything every player wants, though. It's not realistic.
As much housing drama as we get here in the English forums, it's still a minor concern overall in the world-wide player base. I am going to suggest to people who don't like the way the game is run to leave and find a new game. They're going to be unhappy if they stick around waiting for a game to change to meet their personal expectations. The game has more than enough satisfied customers to continue supporting the game through the planned end of the current main story arc (which they've hinted will conclude next expansion).
The next live letter is Sept 15th. If they follow their normal pattern, it will be the first of two related to patch 5.1 with the second about 3 weeks later and the patch itself coming out mid to end of October.
As for transfers, transfer to a world marked New is free regardless of your origination world. Transfer to a Preferred world if free if your origination world is designated as Congested. More info about this can be found at https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...ing/#worldtype
They just took Spriggan and Twintania (EU region) off New status while placing Exodus, Famfrit and Lamia (all NA Primal) on Preferred. Yojimbo and Zeromus (JP data center) are also Preferrred right now, though I don't know if that's a recent change.
Im losing my sanity over this

I would like to sign this too! Having a new housing system would bring in more players too.
I'll sign and support.

Current design is horrid.
