I understand what you mean Nero. You're not debating on the merits of FFXIV, but on the merits of reviews in general, good or bad. Take out the subject of FFXIV altogether, and replace it with any other game and I think it'd be the same thing. The disconnect here is on what people think a review should be. Some see them as editorials, while I think you see the reviewers as "reporters" still in the sense that they are suppose to be reporting facts, and so they should stick to the rules of good journalism. Whether or not a reviewer is qualified for that is up for debate.
Personally, I think objective journalism without spin is a lost art, no matter the industry. The small fries, the big fries... A majority of them are all in the same pool and they've all gotten soggy and inedible.
