PLD did less damage than the WHM too. All those buttons just to do less than the Glare Mage, whom supposedly has so much more responsibilities that a complex DPS rotation wouldn't be possible.

If dev can balance dps among “selfish”, and raid buff dps.
They could balance Healer in terms of dps out put and healing ability. What’s wrong with some job have a more complex or higher skill floor. If all healer have similar style and complexity what’s the point of having different job of the same role.
Even as someone who honestly doesn't mind the 1 button rotation, even I wouldn't say no to having:
>An AoE in DoT usable in single target (I still want Aero III for SCH)
>Big booty buttons for burst phases.
Sage has the right idea on that second point with Phlegma. It's a 2 charge, 45s big damage spell that's meant to have both charges dumped in the major Trick buff windows with one charge to hit on the minor Trick window. While I don't like Astrodyne, I think that's what AST is trying to do. WHM and SCH don't really have that. Assize is on a 45s timer without a charge, and SCH basically has to rely on dumping Aetherflow and risk not having half of their healing kit. Dissipation, as much as I hate it, doesn't even have a 120s cooldown timer to at least line up with Chain Strat.
If they split Assize into a damage button and a healing button (like bring back Fluid Aura with just the damage aspect without the bind and knockback then upgrading it to Banish), I think that could solve WHM's problem. Honestly, WHM would have done better having something like Phlegma since they have PoM and are more based on GCD actions. We could give SCH Bio III and Miasma III (but have it be an upgrade of Miasma II and have it be SCH's Aero III), return Shadow Flare, and put Shadow Flare and Bioylsis on 60s timers. Now, the healers, while having similar tools, have their own personal ways of using them. It's not even that much in the way of extra buttons and responsibility. It's just adding a small damage burst phase and a downtime phase. We already basically need to use our basic damage spell due to the weave window it provides. Why can't we get more out of it?
Sidenote: Adding a Eukrasian Dykraisa would make my OCD happy since Eukrasia can affect the single-target heal, AoE heal, and single-target spell, but not the AoE spell.
Except the career healers want more healing. Anyone who has been around the healer forums for ANY amount of time would know that. However, the developers will not give that to us because they don’t want “to make it too hard for the baby healers”. So, without more healing mechanics to make use of the overabundance of healing tools healers in this game have, the career healers turn instead to something else: well, if you aren’t going to let us actually heal, at least give us some more rotational complexity or something. Heck, I’d be happy to have something like HW/SB Aero III or Miasma II on all healers: an AOE DoT (that is also good on single targets) with a different timer than our standard 30-second one so I at least have something else to press instead of Glare/Malefic/Broil/Dosis.
That doesn’t mean I want to be a DPS—I just want something else to do since this game won’t let me actually heal. It’s incredibly disappointing to have so many great tools that are just straight-up overkill in most of the content in this game.
