You only quoted one part of my post though, what about the most important bit about outside influence making open world encounters a joke.

Also is there no merit in running 20 instances a day and still not walking away with darklight gear ? Dedication is dedication to me.

I don't see what open world bosses provide other than the "look at me" factor or the "F you factor" when you claim it over someone else.

Lord of Onzozo wasn't a BCNM mob. It was in the open world. SE eventually moved Kraken Club to the BCNM when they realized most people despised camping NMs.

It's spawn conditions was that the window opened at 16 hours after ToD. At that point it was a lottery spawn that could take as long as 24 hours. So that's a 16-hour delay with a window of up to eight hours. FFXIclopedia even notes that it sometimes took up to 38 hours to spawn.

There was so much grieving that went on at spawns like this. That's why SE had to add a rage timer to the place holder, because people would hold the placeholder to keep LoO from spawning until their competition had to log off. How is that at all fair?

LoO wasn't on "exact 30-minute intervals" at all. You clear don't know what you're talking about at all.

HNM's are something that is very very very simple to implement and very cost efficient. A ton of people loved this about 11 and a ton of people want it in 14. It is simply adding a mob with a long respawn time with rare drops.. very cheap to implement and for thoughs who don't like such a thing just don't participate in it. I did like how KSNM had dropped items that HNM's dropped and allowed the anti HNM crowd to get these items in some way or another.

I personally think we will see HNM's again with 2.0 or when they do the the reconstruction of the world.

I said "How do you bot claim a BCNM?". When did I say anything about LoO not being open-world or the rest of that stuff you went on about?? I was specifically referring to the Kclub coming from the BCNM, which is where it came from.. That was in response to Peptaru's statement about bot claiming Kclub and Ridill... Ridill dropped from Fafnir.. and that was the timer I was explaining that you clearly don't know anything at all about. As with the rest of XI I'm sure...

Because some people like to compete. Are athletes elitist jerks because they enjoy competing? Obviously not. People enjoy distinguishing themselves. If I do something, I want to do it as well as I can. I also want to measure my best against someone else's best. This also applies to groups/linkshells. There is nothing wrong with someone enjoying competition.

The bot comment was in regard to when LoO had the kraken club, not the horrible octave club. They moved the kraken to the bc60 (i jokingly say) because it saved them money. Having to send a GM to LoO every single day must have been expensive. LoO was among the most horrible mobs to camp, due to his spawn conditions and the grief players caused each other. Kclub was put into BCNM to avoid the very issues that should be kept out of FFXIV. Bots/Drama/Bullcrap.

Who would be retarded enough to suggest botting a BCNM?
As a side note, a test of skill to claim an HNM might be okay, but until they fix the -do dmg from outside the claiming party- thing, it would be a test of who had the most people show up today if it were measured in time. I know that's not something you wrote in stone, it was just spitballing, and i do apprecciate new ideas like that.

Long respawn timer NMs are a pain, and often didn't drop stuff even when you won the claim. Nothing was more gut wrenching than winning the claim on a 24-42 HR NM then get nothing for it other than a TOD that you can't make it to since you work that day, etc.

They are also poorly designed. The NMs themselves usually weren't challenging in FFXI save for a few you needed a group for, even then other forms of high level content provided more challenges and enjoyment. What challenge was there? To beat the JP campers who have a better connection to the server and a higher chance to claim? To beat the botters?

The defense of "Well don't do them then!" isn't valid. If they did exist, and they drop the best gear available that would have been available through other means if they weren't around in the first place, then they're required for min/maxers to do. Min/maxers would have had fun getting the gear instead.
