If you actually played FFXI recently you would know the reason people "load up the party with SAM, MNK, DRK, BLM etc" is because of job specific triggers in Voidwatch, not to "kill the mob faster". You want to stagger the hell out of some VW NMs or you'll get raped. Plain and simple.
Honestly if they want to put in Utsu. I hope it's the same time they put in ninja. Also I hope it doesn't have a short cast timer that allows nin to tank. If brd gets a shadow move. It should be a song. Not a Ninjutsu spell that honestly It has no reason knowing as a Main ability.
Utsusemi ruined FFXI? Hahaha
Good one.
Blame yourselves for casting ichi over ni.
"Oh no, we had to farm to buy the scroll"
"We had to get NIN to 37"
First world problems.
No, because having blink shadows that take the damage for you turns a class from it's intended purpose into a tank. I personally don't want a Bard to be tanking for me.
And if you're confused, that is what happened to poor old ninja in XI. It was developed as a support DD, able to enhance the elemental damage of the mages, and help to keep the enemy from attacking via paralysis, blind, and bind effects.
But of course, it had Utsusemi, unfortunately latched onto by the players as a cheap way of tanking. And eventually the Devs bowed to this unexpected play style and adapted future Nin gear and Jutsu to enhance it's ability to tank.
I weep for what Nin could have been, had it been allowed, on occassion i had parties where i wasn't the tank and i got to have so much fun with my tools.
Like I've said, I understand people's problems with Ninja and Utsusemi in FFXI. However, also like I've said, Bard does not get Flash, Provoke, Taunt or War Drum, and we currently have no reliable way to transfer enmity, so I'm not following why people are so objectionable to it.
Something else I was thinking of, possibly, is how combos based on position would be much easier to trigger under a more solid battle flow. Hence, one tough mob at a time.
