An NPC you truly hate with passion

Not hate but I really disliked Yotsuyu. I don't know why but I prefered a realm reborn + heavensward to stormblood. SB just seemed contrived altogether.
Sure the fetch quests of Minfilia were a bit too often (she had nanomachines to contact me but she didn't :v ) but I surprisingly enjoyed most of the low level stuff.

The way Yotsuyu yelled and was generally obnoxious grinded my gears. I was kind of put-off that they made her come back. Now they're gonna resurrect her and make her look all cutesy and stuff. Way to confuse my brain, Squeenix. :rolleyes:

Like people said, it seems that male villains get their comeuppance and female ones just get turned, I guess because they want to add more waifus to the game. Which is understandable.

We should have more options in the dialogue, so we could tell her to kys.

Alphinaud makes me skip most of the cut scenes.

Since there is no player agency with how the main scenairo plays out, I think our characters basically become NPCs.

"Hate with a passion" doesn't really apply, but the Warrior of Light frustrates me to no end. For example, after defeating Zenos in the Royal Menagerie, I wanted nothing more than to see my character cross the distance between himself and Zenos and put a quick end to his miserable life. Instead I had to watch Zenos give the stereotypical anime-villain final speech, then look shocked when he turned his sword upon himself. The WoL is shown to have little compunction to killing anyone who needs killing, but there are too many occasions when the story forces him to break character and hesitate at a time when decisive action is warranted.

For being so central to the story, the WoL is one of the least-developed characters. I understand why from a technical standpoint, but I still don't like playing a cardboard cutout. One of my favorite scenes comes at the end of Heavensward when Thordan is defeated. He looks upon the grim visage of the Warrior of Light and sees a darkness worthy of the Ascians. "Who--what are you?" he questions. It's scary and awesome and shows a depth to the WoL that isn't really expanded upon.

Just once I'd like to see Alphinaud or Y'shtola, or any one of our many friends, look at the WoL like that, with a mixture of fear and awe, and wonder just who they've gotten themselves tied up with. I want to see my character trying to reconcile a lifetime of death and destruction in the name of Light, sitting alone in a dark tavern drinking the Eorzean equivlent of Pabst Blue Ribbon (a beer for deep reflection and soul searching). I want my character to be more than the silent hero that everybody loves, even the bad guys.

Ilbred. I hated him so much. Wanted to murder his smug face so badly. Never got to in Heavensward during the rescue. Then when it seems like I finally get the chance to off him, he kills himself! It was so infuriating! I wanted a cutscene of my character just finishing him off.
