There really is not much reward for doing that roulette besides being a GoodGuy™, so this may be to try making mentor roulette look more desirable in the long run rather than just increasing tomes it gives. (2000 is so many tho @_@)

I just feel the need to say being being a "good guy" should be your one and only reward for becoming a mentor. You get a roulette that gives you tomes that non-mentors don't get and that's enough. If you're mentoring others for sparkly status rewards you're already doing it wrong. (And not you specifically even though I quoted you, I mean all mentors.)

Well, if you count all of the tomestones and not just the lore, it is an increase because esoterics are increased to 100 for all of these and to 150 for ARF.

So a preformed party don't pick up specific dungeons for their roulettes, i guess

That is the reason. People constantly left until they got the easiest dungeon for their roulette. What's the point of a roulette then?
