Why is FFXIV considered to be so hard/hardcore?

I can't say how I will or won't enjoy FFXIV with addons until I actually play it with them, but I enjoy WoW a LOT more with them.

Maybe I am? But that doesn't change anything. The bottom line is that no one can say what I enjoy except me. People can say "Oh, but teh addon makes you a baddy" all day long. Maybe it does. I honestly don't care. The fact remains the same: I want addons on FFXIV and look forward to them.
