I'm with you on that theory as well Garion, too bad someone only came up with it when our first patch of Kukuru/Apricot was already planted... of course in a double Cross

I got 3 Glazenut Seeds off the Apricots which i planted after the Kukuru in the corners. The patch before i was wondering why i got 6 seeds in one garden - i did because i planted in a circle for the first time ever... could have saved me so much time, having only one Garden to work with is tedious as it is already ^^"

Point straight: in 2 1/2 days my Honey Lemons/prickly pineapple will be ready, in 3 1/2 days my 2 apricots and in 4 1/2 days the three glazenuts i planted

I planted the Glazenuts in the lower left corner when the Apricot from the previous patch was not yet harvested, so if i get a seed there it will hopefully help to prove over time that you can indeed get 8 seeds from one patch. I harvested the Apricot right after setting the nut and planted the seeds in hope to circle for some more Glazenut seeds.

Keep finding out stuff like that, it saves us small time gardeners so much time ;3

Now i might really break the market on this lol. So.... How about getting 6 glazenut seeds and glazenuts from a garden. Or any looping cross for that matter

First, plant an apricot on opposite corners:

A = Apricot
G = Glazenut
O = Empty space


A O O
O X O
O O A

Then you would plant glazenuts on either side of the apricots

A G O
G X G
O G A

Then dug up the original 2 apricots

O G O
G X G
O G O

Then replace them with 2 NEW apricot seeds that will now cross with the glazenuts

A G O
G X G
O G A

And fill in the last 2 spot with glazenuts

A G G
G X G
G G A

This garden should have the potential for 6 Glazenut seeds, and still produce 6 Glazenuts. Even if you DON'T replace the Apricots, planting in this order would give you the opportunity for 4 glazenut seeds with 6 glazenuts.

What if you do the alternating "+" and "X"?

For example, initially, you have these in your garden patch:

R = Royal Kukuru
A = Apricot
H = Honey Lemon
X = Scarecrow
O = Empty spot

R A R
A X A
R A R

Then harvest, Apricots. In ideal situation, you should get 4 seeds from them.

R O R
O X O
R O R

Then plant some apricots. Since all of them are between a couple of Kukuru, then all of them have a chance of intercross

R A R
A X A
R A R

Then harvest the Kukuru, and in ideal situation, you should have 4 seeds.

A X A
O A O

Then plant some honey lemon (or glazenuts if you want), and again since all of them are between apricots, then all of them should have a chance for intercross.

Then harvest the apricot, then repeat to the top.

Notice you still only got 7 seeds though alice, are you SURE that they were planted corners then mid? because it just makes so much sense, and my own garden lived up to my theory. I have another glazenut patch comming up in 3 days i will see what happens with that.

It was an empty garden. I'm 100% sure I planted them that way because the circle-planting-theory was posted slightly after I planted it and I was panicking thinking I might have screwed up.
I usually plant in circle order but specifically planted this one corners first because I've had moments were I accidently selected the wrong spot and nearly screwed up a garden (planting something in the corner instead of in the middle or the other way around).

And I did notice I got only 7 seeds, so we're still no closer to the 7seed mystery :/

I've been thinking about this.
At the very least, if you stock up on apricot kernels, you could produce endless amounts of glazenuts by planting glazenut x apricot.

Then just harvest whenever they are finished and replace with the same. Since they have different growth periods you can keep this going.

If you have two gardens you can have one on glazenut x apricot loop, and the other one for crossbreeding apricots (since you will need more apricots than glazenuts). If you have three you have one garden left for other things.

Downside to this is that you will probably get so many glazenut(seed)s that you can crash the market for glazenuts, glazenutseeds, and anything crafted from them at the same time.

-It seems that alternating the planting (which I labeled "Clock Planting" when I made the table) is producing more seeds than "Corner Planting".

-Few things to note here: I was not on the ball with fertilizing and watering this week due to a busy schedule. Still, I received 5 instead of the usual 4 apricot seeds, because I changed to clock planting. ALSO, I used Grade 2 Thanalan soil for Apricot Seed gardens (color coded).

-Edit: I received a 5th Apricot Seed from Garden #5, but forgot to label. lol

-Will test further with all Grade 3 Thanalan soil and better tending next batch!

I planted a garden of Almonds and Halone Gerberas awhile ago and got Broombush Seeds harvesting the Almonds as expected, thanks to you folks.

What's interesting is, as the Gerberas were still growing (it must have been at least another full day, I didn't keep track of that sorry) I immediately replanted Almonds and today I got another 4 Broombush seeds from them. So you can still use fairly matured plants as crossbreed stock.

This doesn't really prove anything as I harvested the Gerberas 2+ days ago and doesn't show on the FC Activity list, but yeah.

Someone had mentioned it a few pages back and I decided to test it but I wanted to confirm that Jute x Mandrake does produce Jute seeds from the mandrakes. I will know in a few days if the Jutes do as well, but I just got 3 jute seeds from the mandrakes planted next to jute.

Suddenly all those items that use multiple jute yarn aren't so bad anymore.

Well without intending to validate your clockwork hypothesis I ended up doing just that. I planted a medium garden with 3 glaze in a V shape, then planted 3 apricot in a V shape. All three apricots yielded glaze seeds, not a single bag of glaze seeds on the actual glaze plants though.

Ok another nook in my theory. It looks like planting next to a completely grown plant does not trigger an intercross.

Could've been just my bad luck tho, but the only Glazenut i got no seed off, was the one i planted next to the completely grown Apricot from the Kukuru/Apricot Patch.

I'll try to validate that theory further on, should be easier while looping Jute as i can just harvest/buy the mandrake seeds easily
