If the female viera emotes are anything to go by, they will probably have a stoic and reserved demeanor. Their emotes would probably be cool.

I mean, going by how they live and all, would female miqo'te, a race of strong woman who live and struggle on the desert (at least the seekers), be wearing a small bra and a miniskirt as their racial armor and have the musscle of an anime waifu? I doubt it. Races aren't designed by lore, the race is almost 100% of the times designed to catter to a specific set of ppl, designed, and then a lore is made to fit them (kinda). Male viera wouldn't look strong becuase of lore, but because the devs think it would sell more. If not, look at female au ra and tell me that is a race of strong and fierce dragons
I think the Elegant is more in their movement, yes. But the savage part is their personalities. There is nothing stopping them being both. I remember in a book, where fierce warriors were described as elegant because their movements were graceful when they took the enemy. Yet they were still savage like. A person can look savage like, yet move with grace. Or look elegant and fight as a man possessed. Will just need to see what they go for.
Miqo'te have been shown to live as a group and develop settlements. The same can be said of Xaela. Viera women also live in groups.
Male viera are an exception and are described as spending most of their time in isolation. They also live long lives. Anyone who spends any major length of time with minimal contact ends up being at least somewhat feral in appearance and mannerisms - especially when living somewhere as deadly as a forest or jungle.
Assassins can be elegant and graceful, though also very savage.
I'm guessing they'll go either bishonen anime trope since we don't really have it, or they will go super model seductive trope, which we kinda have I guess? Female viera look a lote less tribal than on XII, and in fact, theyr're fem miqote with fem elezen animations and heads put on top. The savage trope is taken by miqote and after how they talked about them not wanting to repeat races, I wouldn't necesarily expect them to look tribal or savage, more so elegant, kinda like the females or shiva-esque
They live in a desert. Tribal women also wear bras and skirts/loincloths in hot environments - some tribal women don't wear bras at all. To you, it's a mini skirt. To them, it's something that allows them to move without restriction while covering their backsides. Don't sexualise the clothes and look at the practicality.
Ah, I see. I can see both. Maybe a mix. Who knows at this point.
Except he doesn't know for sure what they'll look like yet either. Lets take a look at the concepts we had for Au Ra vs what we actually got. Anything is up for speculation and you single handedly can or cannot say for a fact what they're going to look like or behave like. Acting like yours is the factual is not how you get people to sign up for your cause and have your back. One cannot sit there time and time again and beat down anyone with a slightly different idea from what they want. Yes, Yoshi said he pictured them being elegant. As another user posted, you can be both elegant and savage at the same time. You think they'll be elegant, most other people think they'll be more fierce.
And that's okay.
Let's get real here. Everyone may have their own preference towards a male viera body type, but SE is literally just going to reuse the same body type they always do. I am almost certain of that. Females got a copy and paste miqo'te body (highlander actually shares this just a muscle slider). The males in this game except for Roe and Au Ra use the exact same body, even Elezen does just slightly changed proportions. The only thing Male Viera are going to have that is different from this body is going to be a height slider, and a bunny head placed on top.
Custom head, custom animation, and specifically the racial armor are the only things that will be custom, that is my educated opinion.
But I never told anyone I was factually correct? I'm just saying, based on the information that's out there, certain things are more likely to happen. It's speculation. And unlike how au ra came out with both male and female, we only have female viera. The thing is, we can make educated guesses as to how the males will look based on what we know of the females. For example, the females appear to be using a modified elezen model, and they have a rabbit-like facial structure. We can reasonably assume the males would be around their height and have a similar facial structure. I'm not beating anyone down, stop acting like I am.
How they animate surely is part of how they look.
Luckily we do have some absolutes to work with. We know, for example, that Yoshi-P is not going to design them to be child-like due to his recent statement.
Perhaps the original post could be updated to reflect that statement to prevent misunderstandings moving forward? No pressure, of course, just a suggestion.
So have I! Both on the main FFXIV sub and a certain other FFXIV related sub that provides thought provoking commentary and critique of the main sub.
I think it's silly for people to be against the inclusion of male viera outright as there are many compromises that could be made. Though I can understand why they're wary. Outside observers have no obligation to be invested in the cause if it doesn't concern them so first appearances count for a lot.
I don't know, I thought lyn from blade and soul were pretty neat. If viera were like that, I wouldn't mind. However, Yoshi P already said why that wouldn't be happening in a live letter. It would just take a a small amount of people being gross, and it would cause problems for SE. I like the game and want it to do well, so I understand why.

I really wouldn't want the Viera to look like Lyn. ;~ ; This is a little too much for a game like FFXIV.
Haha! All outfits in BnS are a bit weird. Fun game but it's definitely 100000% fan service.
Nopeeee nope nope nope noppppppppppppity nope to nope town on the nope express. Would go full Warrior of Darkness just to purge Balmung if they ended up like this.
P U R G E
I never really got far so my outfits were pretty modest. I did like lyn but I mostly played an elf girl.
But anyway, I think male viera would be around the same height as the females. I think they would look similar to the taller concept art. Most likely nothing like the lyn.
Pffsh. I once got -200 downvotes a few years ago because I voiced my opinion on Viera. Granted, I didn't say anything nice about them (mostly saying they're boring and wouldn't add anything new, especially after Au Ra), but I'm pretty sure Reddit is either in favour of, or neutral about Viera.
Unfortunately if you bring up a topic about male Viera now, you will get down voted to oblivion with a slew of hate for them being thrown your way, with comments reaching up towards 50+ upvotes. Feel free to look up "Male Viera" in the XIV reddit, sort by newest, and watch them tear people apart for wanting them / bringing them up.
Could just be bandwagon downvotes due to how much the topic has been brought up, often in a semi-trollish context, to the point that even supporters may eventually tire of it on there. Overall though, I've run into more people on there for than against. I think there's just a rather vocal, nasty group of permanently disaffected individuals on there who shoot down anything they dislike. Fortunately, the block function is also quite seamless. :)
I think it also did not help that some of the child-like form supporters were quite vocal on there. I got quite a few downvotes stating it's not a good look for the males of the race. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I find that Reddit has a lot of issues in general. The downvote system is often abused and since it isn't as tightly moderated as this forum there's a lot more aggression and bizarre viewpoints to be found.
There's a few gems to be found amongst the muck but I typically just use it to get information on games that I play.
Honestly I only see male viera being bashed or downvoted when people keep pushing it too far with the subject. Like if SE announces something completely unrelated to Viera in the slightest but people start with the "Omg is that silhouette nobody can distinguish a male Viera?! SE IS WORKING!". Then everybody is like "dude that's just a tree, calm the **** down".
Where are people getting the idea that all miqo'te live a tribal existence in the desert or that's at least their point of origin? So far the only tribes we've seen in an actual tribal society are the U tribe of Thanalan and the M tribe (sorta) in Gyr Abania. The small amount of miqo'te in Thanalan doesn't even register on Ul'dah's demographics. Meanwhile 20% of Limsa Lominsa's population is made up of sun seekers and 95% of all miqos we bump into are cosmopolitan miqo'te who live in towns or cities, where fashion isn't dictated by survival. Suggesting that all miqo'te women need to be desert ready just because one or two small tribes out of 26 lives in the desert is like suggesting all hyur should have thick coats and thicker beards because some of them can be found in Coerthas. All that being said, this comparison doesn't work for male viera since we're explicitly told that ALL male viera hide in their jungles and that they're a bit savage.
And again it's a bit awkward to compare them to male moon keepers since the lore states that they still travel town to town and they just tend not to stay in one place for long. The existence of moon keeper miqo men as adventurers doesn't break any lore in my view since that fits their lifestyle. And though they may be rare, they're rare in Eorzea, where most of the game takes place and 100% of adventurers are from. Othard, where the viera are from, has no culture of adventurers and the part of Othard they live in is thousands of miles away in either direction from the story that we're involved with bar one series of raids where we're in and out. It'll be interesting to see how hrothgar and viera are brought into the story lorewise since neither are from Eorzea, but it's more of a stretch to see male viera make it since as far as we've seen, they're incompatible with society.
Don't get me wrong, I'm down for having male viera, but the lore was written under the assumption that they won't exist as a playable race/gender so making any comparisons to existing race/genders in the game doesn't mean a thing at this point.
I really feel like male Miqo'te and female Roes were a mistake and while I just can't get behind a male Viera I am full in support of Female Hrothgar!
Very few people bring up child Viera in this thread and yet its also always brought up by some. And Halivel is not wrong, people probably have a very different view on what is well-built. I already see Elezen as quite well built men. Others see them as too slender.
Edit: See even in the last few pages there is talk about child Viera again..even though the amount of people that wanted something truly childlike was barely there. We would probably have way less talk about that if people would stop bringing them up.
The thing with Elezen is that they look slim because they have elongated limbs, almost comically so. A tall, yet more...proportionate body would look bulkier just because the limbs are shorter, even if the height remains the same. Case in point, male Au ra.
