Dude, check the prices on Durandal, then try to come back in here saying stuff is reasonable.
Nope, the other guy just posted wrong information.
The 25% price drop already happened as anyone that actually checks house pricing can see for themselves. The rest of the 25% decrease in pricing is what's happening gradually.
See, this is what happens when you're quick to throwing out bile. You end up looking like an idiot.
Dude, you're not even on a Legacy server. In fact, your server has the same prices as Phoenix where I am and I alone have enough gil to buy an S sized house of my choosing (hell, 2 other guys in my FC also have enough gil to buy an S plot of land).
Housing prices should be lower, but let's not pretend that it's hard to get the Small house. A year or two is ridiculous.
EDIT: And just to clarify something. I'm not a level 50 crafter that got rich when the game was launched. I have hoarded enough gil to buy a S plot after 2.1 launched.
Then please share what you're doing right, and what many of us are doing wrong.
Good for you and your FC, 30 truly "active" players is a lot for an FC on my server. To get that many active players you need to recruit a lot of people, but then the FC start to become just this mass of people that just share a chat channel. Not all FC's out there should feel obligated to have a mass of people just to enjoy a house with a bunch of people they barely know.
EDIT: Btw, just for clairification, I'm referring to housing to include the land plot.
I craft stuff to sell on the AH, I do my leves every day (only have access to level 35 leves, so only around 3k per day from this) and I try to do Treasure Hunting as often as possible with my FC (a group of 8 people doing 8 peiste maps generates 100k gil guaranteed, with the possibility of more if the chest drops 5k gil each instead of 1600ish).
I can't even do the daily beastmen quests yet.
The game has plenty of ways for people to make money, they just have to actually put some effort into it instead of waiting for it to drop on their laps.
We just bought a Medium sized house on Balmung, it's pretty sweet. It took a lot of crafting and grinding but it was obtained quicker than we thought. It is do-able, our FC only has 12 members to it and we managed. Reading the comments on the small sized houses, I completely agree. They are tiny, they aren't worth 1/10 of the money people paid for them.
That's me. I did just check and yes, SE did drop the small plot prices 25% on January 23. The follow-up post with the 5% weekly drop schedule was for the second 25% drops for small plots to bring the prices to a total of 50% off initial pricing. Currently small plot prices are at ~30% discount across all worlds. Apologies for not catching that.
FWIW SE just announced an additional floor (downstairs) will be added to small houses, either in patch 2.2 or soon after. So they're more valuable now than before. And at twice the size, half the original price (late Feb), and time listed devaluation, that's like (*does weird math*) pretty much worth the money paid for them. :) At least in comparison to the other house sizes and prices.
The bottom floor I believe is reserved for airship building, so I don't know if it will actually improve the size of the living space. Would be nice I know a lot of people who dropped a good amount of coin only to be disappointed with the size of their small house. To me the small house would be the size of personal housing.
The floor they showed here on Saturday's Producer Letter LIVE XII should be for living space, and the underground airship hangar or whatever should be a different below-ground area. (Besides, an airship wouldn't fit in the space they showed Saturday.)
