Spawn time/method has nothing to do with the difficulty of the actual NM...these are separate discussions. Faction NMs should be hard, there's no debating that, especially since you can retry for free on a failure they should be very, very, hard.

Another issue is just the plain lack of variety in gear right now at high ranks. With so much overlap in gear usage, everybody runs around in essentially 2 battle sets, a mage set, and a crafter set at the highest ranks. IMO...there is a general lack of variety in just the basic crafted r40-50 gear compared to the variety you get during r20-40. Doing a quick ZAM query - there are 366 items r20-29, 328 items from r30-39, and 40-50 (Even with an extra rank) there are 224 pieces of gear. And that 224 includes the NM gear. There should be well over 300 items 40-50 that can be crafted and rare gear on top of that.

You joking right? Have you done HNM around 2010? every HNM ls i was going to join had a bot it was like o.o wow and let me tell you the bots do work not if someone else have a even better bot. The bot would even claim the mob before it was you could really see it. I dislike HNM ls because of that and quit FFXI i though if all HNM LS going to do is bot i better of playing FFXIV.

And the HNM that did not have bots was saving up 60mil to buy the bot for there LS. It was that or pay 1-2k real life money which i bet most ls pay for anyways.

Dude every NM spawned with a random timer on when you could claim it, if you went too fast you would all your abilities locked. They did this in like freakin 2007 or something to stop claim bots. No matter how fast you claimed it would be luck. It's obvious you have no experience at all now.

I still think timer pop is ....boring....

Get more creative with conditions of starting battle. If there are a bunch of LS's sitting around waiting for the same bad guy to pop, SE has failed me in the creative department.

You can have a wolfman pop once a month on full moon, you can use weather, prior quests/story, just plain random assault, etc. But popping on a timer in the same rough location just seems kind of ...sad... for a video game made in 2010/11.

People who try too hard to impress others usually compensate for something. I am not accusing anyone but some of the people i met in FFXI with such attitude were people who botted a lot or bought their accounts.

The Bot had every timer time for the NM, each NM/Mob had a code for it in the game, Each few update they ninja change it and the bots would just get them again. You set the spell you want which if you ever play around 2010 you saw a lot's of DD/whm so they can use dia to clam the mob. You put the Code for the nm and the spell you like to cast. It would cast the spell as soon as the NM pops if other bot get it then you out of luck.

@Randis For your informaion i never lead a linkshell into HNM or bot for that matter but i did have friends who was in ls that did have bots. Does anyone remember Volume HNM? They had one of this bots that they got, They cost around 60mil also there a lot talk about other bots like this on FFXIAH. There a lot of information how the the bot claim a mob. So you don't need to have it to know how it works.

The response a number of pro-HNM 24 timer pop folks have made boils down to that if you don't have a signature full of 50s you have no right to an opinion...and even then if that opinion differs from theirs you still have no right to it.

They're not trolling. Hxc players don't want casuals to have the same stuff as them with infinitely less effort put into it. Hxc players should never = casual players. You shouldn't be able to get the best gear in the game by fighting a quick 30 second fight that can happen every 5 minutes with a 100% drop rate.
