Honestly? I do kind of hope I won't be playing this game in five years. Reason being I want a new FF MMO that doesn't have to deal with all the issues this one has.

SO another idiot posted a video showing the use of a third party tool and got a punishment. Shock gasp! After last go round about this kind of thing they should have known better.

My intense dislike of third party tools is well known on this forum. I won't even try to deny it.

That said if I don't know what you are running on your computer because you don't point it out to me I got nothing to say about it.

Botters however need a ban. People that harass others with DPS numbers in normal content will be reported by me the instant I see it for both harassment and using a 3rd party tool. People like the creep that walked up to me when I was an a lalafel character and said some very pedophilia type things and informed me he had an addon and I was naked likewise got a fast report (and I deleted the lala).

I do not want my DPS numbers to be public. I dealt with DPS meters in WoW for years and frankly they stressed me out trying to always be the best. It was not a healthy thing FOR ME. As such I opted out of ever being shown on FFLogs the minute I found out it was possible to do so.

for anyone else interested in not being shown on FFLogs here is how to do it:

log in to your character on Lodestone. In the Profile section of your character add the following code: fflogs-hidden.

Well obviously that lalafell deserved the ban.
People who actively harass others with DPS numbers regardless of content should get slammed. The fact that it was in normal content is pretty cringe and pathetic on top of it.
It's people like those that make others feel uncomfortable with the existence of these tools, because then you can't trust other people to be cordial. We're not the WoW community, but that doesn't mean we should tip our toes into it either.
And botters have a direct impact in our economy, so it's understandable to want them gone.

I know it's not a convincing argument to say "Not everyone who parses will be like that". Because that's a given, the problem are the ones who would.

Just don't be like the absolute geniuses who look at quality of life tools that simply give people with disabilities or other forms of issues (people of other languages can put subtitles into the game so that they can understand it) and conflate it with harassing people. And then have the absolute gall to deny that such conditions exist. If you're going to hate so much on those tools, you should also acknowledge that there are interesting and useful applications and maybe support their addition into the game natively. For the benefit of everyone.
Because while these tools are illegal, they should be distinguished between those that can be used harm others versus the ones that can't, and discourage the use of the latter by officially implementing similar systems.

As for FFLogs, I feel like they should have an easier way to disable them than just having to use Square Enix's own platform to block a third party tool.

When it borders into unwanted and frankly gross advances or harassment yeah I am going to say something. With a report.

As for FFlogs I actually found it comforting that I did not need to go to their site to take care of the issue.

i dont have any problems if SE would add different tools to avoid mods and parsers.
I think players who do the hard content will also be able to counter the manageable abilities of the boss encounters without an addon in the ACT that constantly tells you what to do. Let alone work on their playstyle to keep the DPS high. If not... well then I guess it's "git gud"?
