Moogle delivery quests were nice because it fed a decent chunk of world building, minimal or no but i guess it is either too much work or many people just do not care to have more of those.
The quest chain also made me legit appreciate the ex garlean soldier in the shack near Wineport after having to bear the annoying wine (ARR and Ivalice) because we got to know a little more about him as an example, ARR obviously gets the most work with npcs\quests no matter how you look.
But seriously though, i love Hildi and it is a shame we can't get another side content like moogle delivery quests but probably because it didn't get enough attention and also because they trimmed a lot of text with dialogues and journals.
Looking back how grindy some of the ARR relics used to be (the drop rates of everything and fates spawning times were not as generous as they are now) I don't think this is the worst which could happen honestly.
Considering that the main reason this questline takes so long are cutscenes, which you can skip, it does not sound half bad for people who are not so fond of Hildibrand. I imagine there might be way worse steps introduced to the whole relic grind on top of it yet as they are supposed to be not super easy to get anyway.
Either way I am just really curious to see how it will all tie together.
So... there's no equivalent of Eureka or Bozja in EW?
Maybe, maybe not.
It's too soon to make any inferences on what the content may or may not contain based on just the unlock series alone.
Though personally speaking I would rather they hang up that curtain and actually focus those resources elsewhere than try a third iteration. Especially if they are aiming to release a deep dungeon. The last thing I want is a corridor simulator.
While I respect your opinion not to do something, that's not how things work. Shareholders do not care about what content people are playing in the game, they care about how much revenue SE (and specifically the FFXIV team here) made for them.
No one in any board meeting with investors went, "So you see, the Engagement Metrics for the Gold Saucer are through the roof! We will be making more of it!" It's more like, "Box sales hit record profits, and we will see that double the next time or they'll cut our budget in half."
Step 1: The Thavnairian climate is bit more humid than Godbert is used to. Help him cool down by collecting 15 Coerthan Ice by completing the Battle on the Big Bridge Trial synced 15 times.
Step 2: Thanks to your efforts the temperature in the workshop is a lot better now. However Godbert muscles are feeling a bit stiff Help him limber up by collecting 15 Octopus Oil by defeating Ultros in The Dragon's Neck Trial synced 15 times.
Step2a: Apply Octopus Oil to Godbert.
Step2b: Apply Octopus Oil to Godbert again.
Step2c: Apply Octopus Oil to Godbert again!
Step 3: Godbert has been working furiously on your weapon but the ventilation in the workshop seems to be a bit lacking. Collect 15 Typhon Snouts by defeating Typhon in The Dragon's Neck Trial unsyced 15 times.
Step 3a: Affix Typhon snouts around the workshop.
Step 4: Godbert needs a special ingredient to infuse your weapon with magicks. Collect 15 Amdapori Sand by completing the Battle in the Big Keep Trial unsyced 15 times.
Step 5: The weapon is almost complete and Godbert just needs to put on the finishing touches to give the weapons some extra flourish. Collect 15 Crates of Hingashi Festival materials by completing the Kugane Ohashi Trial synced 15 times.
I don't care what they make us do. It's got a cool weapon at the end and that'll be all that's left after weeks of grinding and whatever tedium that's left behind in distant memory. You want the shiny new weapon glam? You want the Shark Fists? You want the Cake/Tea rod for BLM and WHM? You want to collect them all and build an outfit around it like a real glam chad?
You stop whining and do what it takes.
I hope they give us a Ultros mount at the end of the quest line probably be the best time to do so.
I love people complaining about this.. Really? This is the line in the sand?
You didn't do the Ultimate Teapot, did you? I have a feeling you didn't.. Or Eureka farming for that matter. Relic weapons are almost always increasingly dumb and grindy. It comes with the territory. Maybe the fact that its connected to the Mandevilles may mean it's NOT as grindy as it was in previous iterations. (Dumb is still very much there.. It's Mandeville after all)
Just enjoy the ride! You're not meant to take Hildibrand seriously in any aspect and you're already (probably) doing daily missions for 2-legged elephants and dressing up Alphinauds mum in 2B clothes. (Too many of the latter.. Too many.)
And this is perfectly fair. I did the same with Eureka and Bozja. I've since gone back mostly through Bozja or at least enough for the relics but I mostly avoided it when it was current. And Eureka I haven't stepped foot back into since Pagos was current. I don't think the shareholders care, but the developers do keep their finger on who is doing what in the game. So people can choose to avoid the Hildibrand line entirely and not contribute to the completion numbers. Those who want the weapon no matter what, they can speed through the storyline skipping cutscenes as necessary. We all have the choice on what content we want to do. I decided I liked the look of some later Bozja weapons, so I bored myself to death in that zone enough to get through the relic steps. If someone finds what we get from these relics worth it, then they'll do what they need to do to get them.
Why would you think that it is not grindy just because they are linked to a quest line? ARR and HW weapons had no zones like ShB weapons or Euroka but ARR until this day is the MOST grindy relic ever in existence...
And there are people like me who do not really care about the fact that it is linked to the quest, but about the fact that the theme of the weapons will be Hildi (as said in the live letter)... I do not want to grind for hours for a goofy looking weapon. Many jobs have several cool looking weapons already (like Monk whose first relic was a lion shiney fist...) while other jobs that just came out a few patch ago or recently are without any cool looking weapon.
For me it is more a fear actually than a complaint. I will wait and see if the weapons are goofy or not. I will just not do them and be sad for a few patches until the jobs I want cool weapon for will have a chance to be crafted. (I think mommy will give craftable shiney weapons, at least I hope so, but who knows, as they did not give craafted gear for the Seat of Sacrifice weapons when they are the official WoL ones...)
All i have to say to it: Thanks SE u killing the last thing i did not skip and used for filler on the super long downtime between expansions... thanks to u i have to skip also this part of the game now because raiding matters more than story. so yeah whatever SKIP.
Some ppl do rly bad decisions here
And before some workless person reply. I have to work to pay my bills which include ff, i only have time on holidays crossing downtime for this, so go away with u can watch it, i can not!
What is this rant about?
Is the new relic finished to fast? The first step in shb was also easy to finish.
Does it take to long? Well, thats the point of grind content?
Did you want a instance grind like eureka/Bozja for the relic? I personally like that they try something different so that we have something really new to do.
When you want to rant then please be more precise.
Chad hildibrand skippers rise up
just NG+, I started doing NG+ on a few questlines i have forgotten (mhach was the last) and it's enjoyable.
also how are so preoccupied complaing about downtime and skips for raiding even when they are postponing but doesn't have time to play?
these are some priorities there.
Final Fantasy XIV isn’t like other MMOs that are multiplayer-focused. It is primarily a single-player, story-focused JRPG with some multiplayer content at the end. Your primary focus in the game is to read through text boxes and cutscenes to see the story. Many people deeply appreciate the story focus of this game, and a lot of players only subscribe to read the story. And that’s fine! We all love a good book every now and then.
The developers decided that the Hildibrand storyline was important for raiders to experience prior to entering the next raid tier with the BiS weapon. That’s their decision, and quite frankly, I think many of us are pleased with it. It’s a quintessentially FFXIV-esque experience.
For people who want an MMO that’s focused on multiplayer, there are other games. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight comes out on November 28 with a plethora of new raids and other multiplayer content. You can also play the base game through level 20 with a free trial. Most of the players do multiplayer content, so I recommend this if you want to experience an MMO with other people.
Loathe as I am to sound confrontational.... nonsense.
You don't "have" to do anything, and you are not unique in having a busy life. I work too; full time + (+ being extra, unpaid, hours) at the hospital in the town I live in. I have family commitments atop my work commitments. My online time is limited to approximately one hour before work and then 22:00 until whenever I become too tired to stay at the PC (and I don't stay online later than 1am). In fact, this sums it up perfectly:

And yet I've still managed to complete the MSQ to it's current endpoint and, all bar the newly released ones, the Manderville Quests.
I dont understand why they gave us hildibrand for relic [an inspector] and the put the inspector coat in content unrelated to him so we literally cannot escape from him no matter what content we do. jfc
1st part was easy. i already had he tomes saved up so just had to buy the items and turn them in. WHM weapon is pretty.
Only saw one weapon linked (not shiny yet) and it doesn’t look bad actually, I thought they would make comical cringe but they didn’t thankfully.
