Maybe if you're starting from the last lvl cap and only have a few lvls to go, sure.
If you're new however: It takes 1,894,800 exp to go from 30 to 99, so across 20 jobs that's 37,896,000 exp. Assuming you're in an average party getting 100k/hr, that's 378 hours of nonstop exping 24/7. So just over 2 weeks if you never ever log out and are always exping. That's not taking into account that you still need to grind to 30, adding additional time required.
The term "Maw" doesn't have to mean Atomos, if you look at the art work for other incarnations of Atomos they all look similar, just better graphics, as technology improved, yes there are other differences but you can see where its roots came from. The quest and Atomos may not just be a coincidence but he was brought into the game as Atomos, not a Maw, also if you talk about "The Maw over Bluefog" there is a good chance that none FFXI players know what you are talking about.
Atomos has something to do with going back or forward in time?
it will be part of one of the new mini missions:
- "Monster of Maw Most Massive"
in the trailer we can see that Louisoix is saving our lifes with sending us into the future.. does this thing maybe has anything to do with it? storywise? well, lets see
in german the quest is called something like "hell's mouths/maws high in the sky" (Höllenschlünde hoch im Himmel) (sorry dont know which definition fits perfect for that)
and if i look at that picture, it seems to come from the sky. (ok dalamud also^) but in the english version its described as a monster and in german the quest description says that it is high in the sky.
As a 3 day player, I have no idea what any of this means but hey all the excitement in the thread must mean its a good thing, so woop! :p
From The Final Fantasy Wiki: Lunar Curtain.
On Final Fantasy Wiki en Español they tell that Lunar Curtain ("cortinas lunares" on the site) is a must against Atomos on Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls...
