People skipping the story is their own problem. The majority of players are not hardcore raiders and aren't going to rush to endgame so they can wait around for the raid patch, come on. This is a really strange argument to make out of the lot already posted here.
The importance some people place on "world first" or whatever (speaking as someone who has played mmos for decades at this point) will always be strange to me....
Absolutely. It's a product. It's a video game/entertainment product. Some would even call it a toy. At most, it's a video game that many of us play and greatly enjoy.
Some people, however, are treating it like it's a massive life changing evolutionary force that they need to schedule their entire being around and, as such, the delay is some soul crushing experience. It sucks if you took time off from work to try to experience it in full right at release (I did too), but it's still a video game.
You're right, but it's something I've heard from others and it's sad. Yoshida also said that people had planned raid schedules with their statics for Pandaemonium's launch. Maybe people need to temper their expectations and remember that it's just a video game, but people want instant gratification and competition instead.
You guys are actually planning vacation days around this? That's just sad
Why act like your life is depending on the game release date then? You are exactly right which is why most of us don’t even bothered with 2 weeks delay as long as they keep the quality high. As you said, they are selling a product and what is delay if the product needs more time to be perfect? If anything, SE makes a good call and to say otherwise is just being unreasonable. People should know they are taking day off knowing it is always a risk especially for software release.
Nobody is forced to do anything they don't want to do. Anything they do for raiding is as big a deal as landing a big fish. It makes for a good story, but ultimately, nobody cares who got what, who got it first any more than how cool my kids' pokemon collection is. Or my Uncle's "train room". Or my private Minecraft world.
What I mean is: It means a lot to me/my uncle/kids/you, but outside of that and a very small circle of people, nobody cares. This ain't the olympics.
you ARE aware you can watch the cutscenes at the inn right?
if your "hectic raid schedule" (which I assume must be in WoW) is a problem, FFxiv will wait, it always does. this FFLogs must be something to measure leetness, well, not sure how a delay is going to affect that. luckily, FFxiv hasnt changed to teh point where you are forced to grind daily and pretend your gaming experience is a job.
plus, while some play that way, I think that many just enjoy the journey, there is no need to rush... there is no prize here for first to cap. just relax, enjoy... you'll live longer and smile more
