Maybe they would if their game was fun and their devs could keep their hands to themselves. :)

the fancy takeoff animation was datamined a long time ago. logical "How Get?" guesses were Mogstation or tied to irl merch like the statues/artbooks.
It doesn't surprise me much cause I've come to accept SE is just like any game company and they just want money, a lot of people seem to be in denial about it tho.
Why people still defend SE in this lol. I for one, don't care about mounts in the mogstation, as long as they are not something iconic. Random mounts that have no connection with anything? Sure. But when they use a boss in the game tied to specific contents, and you can't get it from those contents, I comfortably say its a terrible choice. It devalues those contents, its the opportunity cost. If you don't have any time investment in the Alexander raid series, Rival Wings or TEA and still want something cool from it you can just buy it. Its one less cool thing that we could potentially achieve in the game. Now the anticipated CC mount is disconnected from the game, just another random mount that everyone can buy and have absolutely no value. What a waste.
There’s literally numerous ways they could’ve implemented it in game. Make it rain, rival wings, etc etc. Apparently it is hard to understand if you think if it weren’t for mogstation we wouldn’t/couldn’t have gotten it. If they weren’t greedy we could’ve gotten it in game to make up for some of the content drought this expansion.
Yea it’s probably the first time I’ve been saddened by a mogshop addition. It could have been placed in Bozja, moogle event, massive Mgp reward, another mega Gil sink mount (they don’t all need to be gold reskin) it just doesn’t feel right it being mogshop
Most companies won't take a failed game and sink nearly the same amount of money and resources into it to try and save it either.
So while I understand your cynical take, this is what they've stated the profits from the cash shop go to. Notice I say profits. The cash shop team have salaries just like anyone else and they need to be paid first. Then after all that is taken into account, the money is earmarked to go towards whatever improvements the Devs want. Such as the server improvements they're working on now to accomodate the influx of players, or as I said earlier, the data center relocation.
If we got this information from say SE I would be much more dubious about it's truthfulness, but we got it from Yoshi P himself. The one person who from the start has done his best to do what they think is good for the players and does not blatantly lie to us or spread misinformation if he knows it to be untrue. He will use vague language if he's not allowed to say something or he'll skirt subjects he's not comfortable with.. but with the cash shop they've always maintained that it's profits were meant to be the direct success to improvement pipeline for FFXIV only.
Considering the amount of skips/mounts/fantasias the community seems to think they sell.. weird they haven't yet eh?
This is something people often forget about microtransactions in general. Games cost prohibitively more than they used to. Companies aren't just going to eat those costs much in the same way grocery stores don't. Instead of raising the store price or sub fee to compensate, they use microtransactions which are entirely optional. Granted, companies like EA take advantage by pay walling practically everything or creating a problem to later sell you the solution. FFXIV hasn't done that. So while I do think Cruise Chaser should have been an Ultimate reward or something just due to his status in the game, I'm not overly miffed about it being Cash Shop. Just indifferent, really.
