Force PS3 players to migrate over to PS4 and then drop support for it

Well the sad part about that is that, even at it's lowest of the preselectable settings, it still looks 10x better then the PS3 version. I think the lowest setting is named something like "Low end laptop", though I'm not sure if it can be tweaked to be even lower then that, it's not something I've really messed with because I've had no need too.

Edit: That's the lowest I could go in the ingame settings and it still looks worlds better then the PS3 (pic below)

Did not read all the stuff , But you do know that when PS4 will come out, they will have two different clients one direct 11 for pc and PS4 and the Ps3 will be on a different client.

So they can update what they need to and they can let the ps3 version die a slow death, While the other client with direct 11 will be getting updates when the time comes and no longer a excuse on memory or stuff or till ffxiv ran it course.

They learn there lesson on the PS2 with FF11 and ham strung the pc and xbox version of FF11 on a emulation software. There will be a time were PS3 versions will no longer get updates or expansions if they do it right.

Most PC's on the new client will have no problem getting it to work , remember the PS3 is tech wise like 10 years old. Odd person having a 10 year CPU be crazy. How would you even be able to load a internet page anymore.

It proves that you can indeed play on ps2 should you be wanting to and that while the expansion was only available in Japan nothing stops you from importing it. The game is still supported outside Japan for ps2 users it's just not as convinient. Also I play on ps2 for XI because I want to I really don't need any reason more than that, also the music is rather noticeably different and IMO significantly better on the ps2 due to the use of different formats. Also if you are dedicated and know homebrew for ps2 (fmcb) you can actually play seekers in English on ps2.

I seriously bust out laughing when it said "move faster than ever imagined" then shows an elvaan f running through bastok at what looks like a normal pace.

You people can find million reasons to defend the PS3 but... will you admit that the PS3 version is holding the game back?

Let me put it to you this way.

We will never truly know for sure what Yoshi-P pitched to SE to get them to greenlight a reboot of the game, but for SE to even consider doing something so absolutely unprecedented Yoshi will have had to have a pretty remarkable sales pitch to show SE how they could recoup their investment. I am 99.9% sure that one of his best cards to play would have been that Final Fantasy XIV would not be scalable to the PS3 in its current form and a key incentive in remaking this game is to widen the potential user base to a further 45-50 million PS3 users (I believe it would have been around they figure at the time) aswell as people with low-mid end PC's which count for millions more. ...(cont) Final Fantasy is synonymous with Playstation for many people, and in Japan alone having this game on a console boosts its chances of success dramatically (they aren't very PC oriented). I'm not saying this was the sole reason for the reboot, but I would be shocked if it didn't play a vital role in their decision.

In short, Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 was not sustainable and there's a very good chance that without the opportunity to port the game to the PS3 the reboot might never have happened at all. There is a good chance you would now be playing either a F2P FFXIV or nothing at all because they pulled the plug. So no, I do not think the PS3 version is holding the game back.

That isn't backpaddling.... Its backpedaling btw... its the fact that it isn't an issue if the PS3 is supposed to play at that frame rate. It also has no effect at all on your client... NONE ZERO!!!!

The PS3 version does not have fps issues.

In only one sense, a technical sense. It is in fact driving success because, particularly in japan, having a PC only game gimps your sales, console ports reach out to more customers and this can only help the game.

It is not supposed to play at 20 fps. It is unable to run without issues due to weak hardware.

If a game can't keep a steady 30 fps, it does, in fact, have fps issues.
