To all those ANTI loot lockout people I say this.

Having long term goals in content I think is key, keep short term goals isolated within but keep the big wins in the long term with tidbits thrown inbetween to keep players interested. Dungeons should have good gear drop in them and philo items be a way to work harder to get over your bad luck or to try at another type of content "Crafting and melding" the game needs options, not a set of tiers that make only one form of progression defacto.

I say the developer spend far too much time telling players how to play the game and gating us than they should be. They should evolve with the player base instead of telling us we are doing it wrong.

There are three glaring flaws for supporting the lockout. The first is the contradiction of the spirit of the armory system. The second is the enforcement of how we should enjoy our progression. The third being someone could just work around it by spending a few days leveling an alt. The above will be your chance of receiving an item in a CT set based on there being 5 chests with 6 items apiece and zero competition for the roll. Were we to double the loot pool with belts and accessories, you can also cut those numbers in half while competition further divides that by the number of people you're competing against. Basically, DPS will have it hardest because you might get instances where you win up with 4 BLM/SMNs as your DPS, so they'd all want the INT stuff. But as one can see, the further you progress in CT, the more difficult it becomes to acquire a desired item within the set. When paired with the lockout, you must begin to weigh your ability to attempt CT against your luck. When the end of the week nears and you still haven't received a set piece, the question then becomes whether or not you should try Greeding for the other things. If you do win there, then you've stalled your Need growth while also making it harder for the class you Greeded for to progress later.

Someone can correct my math if they feel I'm incorrect, but to gear a singular role via Need will take on average 16 CT runs with those above percentages. Someone might get lucky and do it in 5 if the lock remains. Someone could need 80 runs if RNG hates them. Would you want to do 80 CT runs in 5 weeks? I wouldn't. Know what would take the sting out of that, though? Being able to Greed the things others don't want or need. I am a firm believer that in the less you choke off a resource, the more generous people will be in is distribution. Kindness builds community, of which community building has occasionally come up as some twisted reason to enforce the lockout. All the restriction accomplishes is emphasizing competition because it's all or nothing once JP midnight hits on our Monday. There is no forgiveness in missing a week. The is no consolation in RNG hating you. So why some continue to resist the premise of fair effort yielding a reward baffles me.

Perhaps people don't realize this, but this is many people's first MMO (like me) and we have never heard of these supposed "lockouts" before, and to be honest it baffles my mind that its such a common thing in the MMO community, because i think its absolutely retarded. Just because something is common doesn't mean it's a good thing, slavery used to be a normal thing remember?
If i hadn't made any friends on this game i might have stopped playing by now, the end game is extremely repetitive and not very rewarding. Coil lockouts hurt free companies badly. For example, our best Tank has a static he runs with simply because he made it to coil before the rest of us. Then once the FC needed him, his static freaked out and basically guilt tripped the shit out of him, putting him in the middle. This caused so much drama it was ridiculous. We even tried to have then join our FC but they refused because our FC name was "Too silly". So basically we ended up telling our tank to not worry about it so the drama could end... Now all of this could've been avoided if you could go to previous turns once you've completed them, even if there's no loot involved, at least then you could still help friends.

People need to stop comparing lock outs in other games to this one anyways. Other games the content is locked out per job, whereas the selling point of FFXIV is that you can have all jobs on one character. Even FFXI never had week long lockouts.

I am actually surprised casuals think this is only a "hardcore gamer" issue. I actually think this is more of an issue for casual players. I am a casual player. My playtime is limited. Because it's limited I want to have the freedom to do what I want in the limited time that I have. This especially goes for casuals with random schedules. Why shouldn't we be allowed to do coil twice in a week because we may not have the time to do it next week?

I don't care if it means hardcore players get gear faster, that's the reward they get for putting more hours in.

I wonder when the MMO zombie holocaust was.

Because as far as I can tell, we are surrounded by people who can't think of anything to do on their own. They only react to the sound of loot hitting the floor. And when they hear loot on the floor, they rush towards it and intend on consuming it regardless of what they have to pass through to get it. When they are out of loot, they go back to idle mode and just moan and stay in place. Oh, and constantly make threads about how they have nothing to do, can't forget that part.

Play the game one week with another goal than getting loot. I challenge you all to do this, because I know none of you will and I can count myself a default win in this discussion.

Sad thing is there isn't other things to do, you Know crafting at its current state is pointless? They might as well removed crafting from 2.0, But considering I spent most of my time crafting in 1.0. so.... No world content to pass the time, no point in gathering, bots flood the market, and also armory system is pointless.

Stop caring about how others want to enjoy the game.
