As far as I'm concerned, not using Bloodbath is only incrementally better than standing in the AoEs. Anything that can give my poor MP pool a rest, even a small one? Yes, please!

As an interesting spin on this thread, I pulled a doomed Ifrit HM battle out of the fire (nyuk, nyuk) with BLM heals. One of the healers and one of the tanks had obviously joined to troll. The former by not healing and the latter by not tanking and using LB whenever a bar filled. The other poor healer went down at about 20%, two other deeps died and I somehow managed to keep that thing together until the final bell sounded. And no... I couldn't help DPS. Not a single comm. WTH
I was healing Steps of Faith the other day. Duty started up, people said they've never been here, I explained and told people where to go. Standard stuff. Then the pull happened, stuff died, people dodged stuff, it was terrible. This wasn't the Steps of Faith I knew, who would be this awful to make it go this way, not a single wipe. Not a single raise had to go out, it was disgusting. What game are these people playing, this isn't how we do things here.
Haha... I had to reread your post. Well played.
Went into bray yesterday. First thing tank runs in and pulls the first two sets of mobs. No big deal I thought. Then I notice in group no aoe at all. So I start spamming cure II. tank goes down from hits while im on global cooldown. Tell the tank " hey we got no aoe please don't do that". He told me that he been running it six times today doing giant pulls. Expect giant pulls, stay out of cleric, and spam cure. I told him basically I pay for my game. Not tell me how to play. Since im not new walking in long with i110 no big deal. tank keeps whining that he wants do big pulls and im not allowed to deeps at all. At that point i stop healing any of them til they boot. At first they wanted to make me get the debuff but as soon as they realized they wouldn't go thru with no heals I got boot.
Now don't get me wrong I don't mind advice cause I can always just ignore it, but telling someone they are not allowed to do something on a game they play for, well that goes beyond stupid.
So... I was levelling yet another dps job, and almost came completely undone in the game altogether being absolutely sick and tired of tanks that couldn't tank, always happy to help them out, as we run an fc with tonnes of tanks that we have literally trained by taking in our top dps and attempting to pull off them, teaching them how to keep the aggro, needless to say, its a lot of fun and worth the work. But this one particular day, Id just had enough, after spending 1.5 hours in a Sunken Temple norm teaching a tank the very basic "how to pull". Didnt know what an enmity list was or where to find it, didnt have shield lob on his bar NOR Provoke.... so we taught him all that, happy to spend the time even though we just wanted to get the xp and get out.
And so it continued on for the rest of the day... one tank after the other until the last straw was a pally entering Stone Vigil, no job quest done, still Gladiator, so no Shield Oath either and low level gear. I asked him why he hadnt done his job quests...No response... Wipe 1, wipe 2, wipe 3....asked him again pointing out the obvious as to why the healer cannot keep him up and of course that the healer keeps getting interrupted - healing aggro - mobs etc etc etc.
So I just logged off, rather distraught that it seems that just anyone can just decide they wanna roll a tank and thats where it stops. No understanding whatsoever of the why or how, and whats worse... no research in to it. So, I thought Id be part of the solution, having been main tanking FCOB on one of my mains and raid healing on another main in another raid team....so I started...
THE TANK PROJECT
----> How To Tank 101
Feel free to refer a pally to that if you encounter someone who does not know how to tank on a pally.
Warrior is coming, although I havent encountered too much of an issue with warriors, I shall do one anyway.
So basically, if you encounter failing tanks... take 5 min break while they read that so you dont waste time explaining it all... hope it helps XD
had a good one last night lol :)
WoD group is dieing left and right. Was with my brother (the other WHM) and my cousin newish WAR.Group had 2 DRG a Nin and 2 bards (think). Everything about the run was slow and painful. Tanks in the other groups were fighting over Agro so my Cousin is focusing on the adds. The other 2 tanks seemed to think it was funny to spin the first boss around which caused more then it's fair share of deaths. The dragoons didn't seem to understand what doom did or how to get rid of it. Explained a few times and then let them stay on the ground. Don't think there was a single fight were at least one of them didn't spend the majority of the fight kissing the dirt.
Get to the Cloud of Darkness, spending MP like it's candy to keep everyone alive, second wave of dark clouds come up and the boss gets like 6 or 7 stacks. I realized just before and tossed Stoneskin on myself, the other WHM and WAR. We survived the blast, used LB3 and saved the fight. 0 comms :( Seriously one of the roughest runs of that dungeon I have ever experienced.
I was healing Ifrit Extreme in DF. Which everyone surprisingly knew the fight except for the other healer which said, "I'm new." I tell her about how she needs to stay away from the PT when she has the debuff, but she kept running head on into the melee to cast aoe heals. To which everyone kept dying.
I asked multiple times that if they could get on team speak so I could let them know when they could go in to "assist heal" but they would not saying they didn't want to ruin the experience.
It got to the point that I let her stay dead, and I solo healed the EX in DF.
She told me I was a jerk for this because she was "new" and I didn't give her the chance to learn. Yet I did - I offered, marked, and told her about the safe zones.
I honestly don't regret it - honestly she should be happy with a free-win. >.>
