Sounds like a BRD I got in Lakshmi last night in roulette. They would take their + AoE aaaaaaaall the way to the back (middle back), where they could not DPS whatsoever. They would do this every single time, even when I would get the + AoE (if I got it alone, I'd pop True North and stay on Lakshmi's left side. I'd give the MT and OT plenty of room to move), which would force me to move away from the boss so that there was actually some room in the middle AND so the BRD wouldn't hit me with their AoE.Quote:

Leveling SAM and was with some FC mates, one of whom is leveling PLD. We did Alliance roulette and got World of Darkness. Not terrible. Made it to the eyeball without an issue and then there became issues. Newbie tank not really understanding what to do coupled with apparently newbie DPSers together with a healer who flat out wouldn't heal anyone. Malefic, malefic, malefic, malefic, malefic, malefic, oh look most of my alliance has died? Malefic malefic malefic malefic. Couple of people complain in party chat, healer says something to the effect of "I'm not bothering to heal if you can't be bothered to do mechanics" (paraphrasing). Again, tank said they were new to tanking, other people said they were new to the whole thing. No problemo. Started a vote dismiss and pretty much instantly it went through and out they went. Oddly enough, we didn't have a single issue after that.

Went into MSQ Roulette for the first time as a tank (DRK) and got Prae. I've run the dungeon a ton of times as both DPS and Healer so I know the fights and pulls pretty well.
When I got in I let the party know I was new to tanking. The other tank, another DRK, didn't say anything and didn't put on grit so I thought he was allowing me to main tank. Okay, cool! I could use the practice.
He did let me mt, up until we got to Ultima.
The first part of Ultima is untankable, he just clobbers around shooting lazors until Hydealyn grants us our "blessing of light."
The other drk still doesn't put on grit, but is standing on top of me as I'm tanking it.
Then says in chat AFTER the fight where he didnt have grit on "let me mt."
O-okay.. I told him I didn't realize he wanted to Mt as he didn't have grit on, and had he asked before the fight I would have let him tank it.
He just replied "I am mt" and threw on grit.
Didn't ask or anything, just demanded I let him mt. I didn't wanna fight so I turned off grit and off tanked the second ultima fight and lahabrea (though to the healer who stuck up for me, thank you)
You could have at least asked, dude. And maybe mt from the start. -
06-10-2018, 09:16 PMTyrTryThere seems to be this unspoken rule that if you pop into a trial with another tank, and you see that they're in tank stance and don't turn it off, then they're the MT (this is at least what I notice in PUG groups). If you want to be MT, all you have to do is ask. Goodness, it seems so difficult sometimes for people. Your story reminded me of a Shinyru Ex learning party I set up back when it was new. Had a WAR join and I specifically said that I'll MT this round.Quote:

I don't even remember what the dungeon is called, but we had two newbies to the dungeon and they weren't very good at dodging aoes or killing adds in bosses (they're the ones that attach to the healer and one DPS type deal), which effectively killed me and other DPS and such. xD Of course, I can barely DPS as I'm trying to keep tank alive from Ketsu slash+bleed+vulnerability or whatever it's called. Apparently one of them was using wrong rotations. (On top of that, squishy tank rarely ever put on defence cooldowns...)
I haven't felt this tired from a dungeon run in... quite a while, actually. XD They definitely gave me a run for my money, but it was fun. -Keels over-
