Missing Genders: A request for Male Miqote, Female Highlander, and Female Roegadyn

Hopefully when/if they add the new genders they update character creation options at the same time so everyone has the option to do a one time change for free and then implement the "barber shop" .

There is a low chance Male Miqo'te will ever come out of the house.... Tho, I would love to finally stop being a lesbian ^^

Its great that their going to bring this to the Dev's attention. Sadly i allready see the responce. This is what i see what we'll get as an awswer " thank you for your interest in new characters but as of now we have no plans on introducing new playable characters" thank you SE. Thats going to be the responce. In ffxi people have been asking for these for years and years and years. It's never going to happend.

Male Miqo'te would be cool. Altough female highlander and roegadyn would be creepy...

but for this to be the largest thread on the forums.. it doesn't fix any major issue..

Nope, but the difference is that we know they are working on all of those things while we have no idea if they're planning to add those options.

No one is saying, at any point, that this is a high priority. People simply want an answer, yes or no. I'd be willing to wait until all the major changes are finished before they even start working on it if they decided they wanted to.

It amazes me how many people think we are asking for this to be done right away....INSTEAD OF MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE A DONKEY TRY READING THE POSTS!!! B/C if you had you might have had a comment worth reading :D

No one has yet to say this is the most important thing. However it is not our job to prioritize our ideas and suggestions. Also, this thread isn't as depressing as the other ones. What this thread is asking for is also rather simple.

1)Are we still getting those promised missing genders for the current races?
2)If so is there a timeline to expect them?

This may sound dumb, but in terms of Female Highlanders am I the only one that thinks of the women from American Gladiators?

When I think of female highlanders I think of the type of woman whose nickname is pipes. But I still support the option. "Pipes want snu snu!"

I'm not fond of the Female Roegadyn idea. I chose Roegadyn (Galka) because it is sex neutral.

Just so you know, Female Roegadyn have already been said to exist in the lore. Roegadyn are not the exact counterpart of Galka, because Galka were said to reproduce by some sort of budding <.<

As much as you may not want to think about it, Roegadyn have lots and lots of sex.

Yeah, as has already been said atleast 50 or 60 times to every time someones said "But Roegadyn are Asexual!" they are not. The lore on both the FFXIV website, as well as in game says they have both Male and Female genders and that the females are actually supposed to be quite beautiful as well as fiscally and politically important.

Do you believe game development works by doing one thing and then moving on to the next?

There will be character design teams, environment teams, writing teams, translation teams, balance teams, monster design teams, many many 3D modelling teams, character animation teams, monster animation teams, battle effect teams.

There will be at least 2 teams of people in each of these fields, with many others that i forgot to mention.

So tell me, do you think that every one of those teams are currently dedicating themselves to implementing quest/story/raid content? There is always time to work on something pivitol to pre-existing lore, if there is enough demand for it.

This thread proves that people care about the fact that they told us there were female roegadyn, and that they told us there are male miqo'te, and then just never showing an example, playable or not.

It proves there's a want to play those gender options for those races, and diversity is always a massive draw for players in an mmorpg. I would argue that these two gender options are more important than other content, as not only does it offer the players the characters, but it also offers them for npc's, expansion of lore, and expansion of story. Which offers more fundemental aspects to the world that can be utilised in game content.

Tessa, I agree with you 100%. The thing is, we don't know how the teams are structured over there and what they're all working on. If a team was free to work on something like this then more power to them. I think most people here just want an answer and are okay with waiting if need be. If we didn't have to wait though that'd be amazing lol.

Also, I want content as much as the next person, but being able to play the character I WANT to, Is more important than content for me.

Just because you don't agree, doesn't make it any less valid for me to want it.

I was outraged when i heard they were using the same races, but when i heard male mi'qote and female roegadyn had a high chance of being playable, I was like "Okay! They're doing something differen't!"

The OP begins with unimplimented races in FFXI, when did the players have to dictate that to the devs? Its because this game is failing they are listening to anything spouted by a few individuals. Sorry, but 2 new races will not save this game. All this thread seems to be about is passifying the current player-base. BASED soley on in-game lore. Which is why its retarded.

And if they spend any time on this - what so ever - I feel they have sunk to an abosolute low - No self respect, they are THAT desperate to keep you for when payments come around.

And how implementing these races and genders really matters to you? Maybe you already have the character you wanted, but there are others who really want to play a game where they can create that character they want to be without having to pretend they are a different gender.

I'll be honest, I hate the idea of there existing male players as Miqo'te females, but what other options are there?

There is a whole stereotype about mancats, but really, there are no options to actually play a male cat. So now they either have to make male characters or be treated like a "mancat."

Pretty much what I am saying is that, the gender locking isn't really a great idea after they have already done that in FFXI. They could at least change the races in FFXIV as much as adding Genders to races just to make a bit of difference.

Kam, my comments about XI were misinterpreted.

When they first announced Galka and Mithra they only showed the singular genders and never explained the correlation of why those races were mono-gendered racial choices in game. They just said "You can pick Male Galka or Female Mithra" they never said anything about the lore. Especially in the english press. which at the time was the only place you could get any information about XI. The internet was pretty barren and the only sites that had information were mostly in japanese.

I had started a bit of a request to see pictures of the other genders and know if they were going to be implemented. The response we all got was in the form of an eventual release into English of the lore breakdown for those races. After that I never asked again and played quietly with the idea stuck in the back of my head that "Heck, I'd probably prefer playing as a female Galka. but because of the lore it'll never happen" so I shut up and accepted it.

FFXIV finally debuts at E3 2009 and lo and behold Theres a Mithra, and a Galka displayed... Its announced the races from XI will be returning with major changes to each so that players will be comfortable recreating their old characters if they have too. So again, I asked "Will Female Galka and Male Mithra be playable." Eventually we got the response from see that they were new races, their names were Miqote and Roegadyn. Then... we got lore. The lore stated that the genders that were previously ultra-rare or non-existant in XI did indeed exist in normal capacity in XIV. So Even more so, we began asking to see them, asking if they were working on them and the answer we got was "The Designs are done, but we haven't had time to implement them, but maybe later."

All this thread is asking. is "Is there still a chance to implement them, And when." its not asking for them right now.

Ultimately Kam, you sound more and more like someone who just doesn't want people to be happy. Instead you want your viewpoint to be the only valid one and you do not want change. Well some of us do. I support the change especially now that the lore is established to allow for it.

You're now going back to FF11, I started as Mithra and found it weird that people online thought you have to represent your own gender ONLINE. When acually all you're doing is representing your personallity through binary code lol.

All it comes down to really is some nerd being annoying you're not an actual female, which is his own personal issue.

If you feel like its wrong to run around on a female character. Then forget about... like.. half the games ever made?

And from personal expericance its only americans that care about this type of thing. Cus, again from personal experiance, you're the biggest nerd nation on the planet. And some feel a MMO character is something akin to facebook...

Kam, you're just being stubborn and rude. It's not like we're asking for something that's completely impossible to do. They've mentioned in more than one interview that the MODELS ARE DONE and therefore it's not really sinking any time into development because everything is FINISHED. Yes, I am spelling this out for you. =)

All they need to do is find the time to implement them, and nobody's asking for them now. All we want is a definite answer, and perhaps a time frame.
