Lalafell's aren't boyfriends, they're condoms!

I just find it odd mainly because in XI they allowed galkas to get married... >_>
Galka's are male and were able to marry female characters of other races. That wasn't so much a sexual preference issue as a racial issue. Which would've been a whole nother can of worms.
But Galka's didn't have junk and didn't reproduce normally because of it. They just appeared to be male based on their stature.
This produced an LOL followed by an eww from me :P
Though that does make an interesting side point here. Male Roe/Elezen/Hyur are going to be able to marry female lalas who look exactly like small children but people really are going to be up in arms about two male or female Roe/Elezen/Hyur getting married? That is what is so morally objectionable? Really now...
Lol A lot of people, even Galka players missed the part where they were junkless XD. I remember that little flower boy Galka.. XD confused so many people lol
They are associated to males but they should have been able to marry anyone - as marrying was literally "just for love".
this is a game, not every one plays there gender so that should be put in to mind when debateing this its not real life. Im pro gay marrage in in real life. but reason why other side dont care for it in the real world dont really hold much ground here
Man this is such a new wave concept too. Do you know how many people actually married for love more than like 60 years ago? Hardly ever. We talk about it in romance movies and books but honestly, marrying for love is a really western Ideal even now. you should marry for TAXES!

Galka reproduce through a form of reincarnation. It is told that "When a Galka senses his death, he sets out on a journey to climb a high mountain and await his final moments. There, guided by a magnificent light, he gains a new body, and with that body climbs down from the mountain. However no one has ever seen this miracle take place. It may just be simple folklore. All we Galka see is one of our brothers setting off on a journey. Then, less than a year later, a new Galka child arrives in our camps." (Zeid)
Lol - land, connections, money, and ultimately power

Many English speaking fans believe they are asexual due to a mistranslation in the manual. Interviews with the game's creator have confirmed they are male.
awwww I liked the idea of an androgynous race :(
Sweet. then we should add a Kharma Chameleon Race

How terrifying!
HAHA! Only same-sex marriage... and that's when SE drops the bomb that all living creatures in Hydaelyn are actually birthed from the land by the will of some as-of-yet unnamed primal (*coughedencough*) and that any type of sexual encounter with the opposite sex brings forth an eldritch abomination from the void.
See title above, but proceed to
>>>>THIS POST<<<<
At least all you people who want same-sex marriage, be creative and try to think of an in-Hydaelyn-universe reason why ONLY opposite-sex marriage would be allowed.
Okay I can't help myself but to reply to this.
You know that means any hugging, or any other physical contact like picking someone up, would cause people to explode/self destruct/what ever you're implying.
Why do you want SE to come up with a reason to justify the notion of not incorporating same sex marriage.
As it goes there is nothing that has been said that provides a thorough and coherent argument against the idea, and there's nothing else anyone could add to defending the idea.
Oh and Valk. If this was all about complying with Japanese society and it's standards, why would we be asked to discuss it?
This thread as gone waaay off topic and will hopefully be closed soon ><
Here's the message I leave you with:
(slightly NSFW at the end)

The justification is that prejudices and discrimination that exist in real life, should not be carried over into a medium that people use to escape such prejudices and discrimination.

Japanese players are also debating this...
they are not doing it BECAUSE of Japanese Society... that doesnt mean the discussion can't be open to see if the desire shouldnt superseed that for fans...
- Japanese society
- It should be decided based on whichever move will loose less subscribers
A large portion of the thread is them talking about how we mostly have an issue with the actual use of the word "marriage" and that perhaps the best solution would just be to call it something else.
Not really a judgement on my part... just providing a summary.
Yeah, a lot of them don't like the term marriage in general. Also, dear god they are so respectful to one another... It makes me want to learn japanese just so I can participate in their discussions.
It would be hard for me to learn mostly cause I already speak three languages... such an expansive language may be too much for me to handle :(
I can't speak for kanji, but i found my japanese I class in college to be MUCH easier than spanish. Yes, you have to learn a new system of writing, learning how to speak and write it, and getting used to a different syntax. But because it's so different, it makes it somewhat easier to learn, and more enjoyable as well. I hated learning spanish, because it was so similar to english in some ways and yet so different in others, which tripped me up a lot. But japanese is so different, you're not caught up by any old habits from english.
I do hear kanji is evil though. :P
I think this is a really bad idea. Not because I'm anti-gay or anything (quite the opposite) but because marriage is a RP aspect of the game an should have no bearing on the mechanics of the game itself.
I don't see how adding a marriage feature for anything outside of "pretending your married" adds any kind of fun factor to the game itself. So I'm opposed to all kinds of marriage entirely, they can spend their time doing things that allow anyone to take advantage of any types of special benefits they were going to add to so called married players.
It's not about having an advantage or adding to the gameplay, it's just a fun feature for people who want to use it. Those who don't can ignore it. This thread is simply about discussing their decision to restrict it. Marriage looks like it's going to be included either way, or maybe have its name changed so SE can avoid PR issues with "marriage".
You make out SE will lose thousands of subscribers if they make same sex marriage possible.. which is absolutely ridiculous. Go to page 1 and look at the votes. What makes you think it's because of JP society that they aren't allowing it?
It seems in the discussion on the JP side of the forums that it's debating the name used -- particularly because they think English Speakers will have a problem with it.
(By the way, it's spelt 'lose' not 'loose').
Why can't people like you keep your nose out of other people's business? Our marriage will not effect you. The last thing we want to do is see you in-game, let alone invite you to any ceremony we have.
Shoot down one of their bigoted ideas, and they just find something else.
Oh and honey, stop contradicting yourself. You use Japanese society as a reason to not allow it, and then say that even though their society hasn't allowed it yet, that discussion should continue to see if the fans want it?
Well it seems the majority want it.
Damn you know how to let a propsal down - hanging on the edge of my chair for the last few hours and then BOOM right in the face!
I thought we really knew each other.. we had something special... :(
Lol - and I liked the idea that Galka had none as well. Kind of sad it was a mistranslate - made the "Resurrection speculation done by the npc" less likely.

@ someone who knows japanese culture - are they sex specific in anti-homosexuality? Or is it dont ask dont tell. I have no idea what they think - I'd have thought they where more into it with what their pop stars look like and all lol.
