Explain why the Thalassocrat/Mezraq made Penta the best WS. And no, I know down in Georgia you think everyone is jealous but no, I'm just disappointed in you.

You forgot that instead of fixing PUP's longevity issues and DPS spread when using the caster automaton, the devs allowed roundabouts to game mechanics like ADA to exist.
*puts on Scholar's Mortarboard* For those of you who don't know what ADA is, it stands for Activate, Dismiss, Activate. People who used caster automatons would activate their automaton, have it cast a spell, then dismiss it and use activate again to summon the 'maton, provided the automaton's HP was 100%. What this did is get around the internal cooldown the automaton had for casting spells, and if I'm not mistaken, it also reset the amount of MP the automaton had every time it was resummoned. You could technically get it to cast spells back to back using that method.
The only high parses I've ever seen of PUPs involved ADA. See my above point.
After years of the job being treated like garbage post-penta nerf. One does not undo the other. There's a reason the "Ryuu-san the DRG has been waiting for 6 hours for a party invite" joke came about.
I'll disagree with you here. DRG in order to get access to healing breaths (lol) required them subbing WHM, RDM, BLM, BLU or SCH, which more likely than not you were not going to sub for events. You were coming /WAR for double attack and berserk, or /SAM for meditate and the ability to solo a lv3 skillchain (I'll concede that you also needed Spirit Surge).Quote:
and DRG wasn't about only DPS either. But then again, no other job even came close to the healing efficiency a DRG could put out (6mp for 600~800hp at any moment in time, and 6mp for 1200~1400hp healed every couple minutes), and while still being able to outparse most DPS.
Because if you're using a Thalassocrat/Mezraq, you don't have the relic/mythic, meaning you don't have their weaponskills, which means, at least in pre-abyssea, you're limited to Penta Thrust, Wheeling Thrust, or Skewer for a decent weapon skill as a polearm user. It's not rocket science.
Are you implying that you need a mythic to get drakesbane?

Did you even play FFXI?
That was my DRK(Elvaan to boot) when I started ~55/60 I had to put it away, stupid mil+ gears hanging over my head stopping me from continuing effectively. I went THF next and learned and tried to teach SATA tactics to people cause let's face it, like SC >>> MB went the way of the dodo so did decent SATAing. I also quit for 2 years around ToAU to pursue some other interests and when I came back I almost cried, level sync made me smile til a 65 was in qufim leveling and it occured to me that it was gimping peoples skills and knowledge of thier jobs if they were really leveling like that all the way to 75 ... Then abyssea happened and I thought I maybe needed to quit.
But you said you needed a mythic weapon to get it. Don't backtrack my dear friend.

How were you (as in the masses, not you specifically) stuck with only penta for most situations? Unless you didn't unlock it (which doesn't surprise me at this point). How do you not know about that questline. Maybe you should browse more sources.
Heh, the funny thing is some of a few members of the DRG-only linkshell I was in thought I was bandwagon-hopping. Well these same members had quit DRG when the wyvern got its own emote animations, and they just went hopping bandwagons themselves. Meanwhile, I eventually got my DRG to 75, better geared than all but 2-3 of them. Funny thing, I was also the one that made it the largest DRG-only shell of any server, and my leaving it is what caused it to break up. XD
Granted, I misspoke, but I haven't backtracked.
Every DRG knew about Drakesbane, it was definitely heralded as the best thing to happen for DRGs since the 2hd update, and no one didn't know about the questline. Point is though it was never something simple to obtain.Quote:

You didn't misspeak, you clearly said that without the mythic or relic there was no way to get the weapon skill. You even went far enough to say that "It wasn't rocket science". And yes, it was pretty simple to get. If you spent that much time making a cure breath set, then you should have spent the time unlocking the weapon skill. If you weren't skilled enough to get to floor 100, then it was still do-able. If you cared about the job as much as you imply, you would have had it.

Yes actually. Either way you're using a red herring argument. My professional life has nothing to do with your lack of understanding in XI.
So why isn't this thread locked yet?
Drakesbane was obviously GDLK, so what?
What does that change about either person's argument?
Well it being godlike would support my position since like I said time and time again, the stuff I did do I managed to do with decent gear at best. I never had by far anything close to THE best endgame gear for DRG.
In other news, why aren't we talking cheesecake??? I WANT MAI CHEESECAKE, MAMA!!!

The Thread That Cannot Die!
In theatres near you, today.
Damn you and your wiles Ingolf!
You shall NOT be taking the 'grumpiest bastard on the forum' title from me!
It requires more then some petty name calling and "NU UH UR WRONG' endless trifling to get that trophy off my mantle. I have a goal and a whole legion of people who bitterly oppose me every step of the way. You have accomplished nothing more then some trolling. I have Manifest Destiny and the entire weight of the Galka race settled firmly on my shoulders. You only wish you had something as noble to fight for.
NOW
To reel this thread in a bit. Can we all at least agree for making jumping an effort which your character puts their whole body into the motion instead of going from an unbend stance to Jordan mode?
Ok, I'm going to stay out of this... *holds my tail and runs away quickly*
I agree. For sure.Quote:

Still that is not quite right. Both those phrases are used to describe someone who is fixated on something from long ago and they hold onto that memory and only remember it in the best light. Being aware of something in the past, knowing of its faults and admitting there were problems, yet still liking the original concept despite the short comings. That is just someone who has weighted the thought and found its benefits were more attractive then its cons repelled.
Besides, the Mithra-line got to keep their tails. I would hardly say they are "in the past" when they are right here with us now. It is simply a matter of getting everyone who deserves it placed right back where it belongs.
This is not a big miracle. Show me one felide race with no tail ^^
On the other site, big men don't have always a tail.
And Roegadyns aren't Galkas, like Miqo'te aren't Mithras (Mithras have fur (or it look like they have fur), Miqo'te not).
Roegadyns loves the sea and hot vulcans, they have 2 genders and the females think with the head whereas the males think with the muscles.
If you 3 don't stop I will turn this thread around!
My plan is to get it to turn around so much that it causes the forum to implode in on itself. All that will be left is a black hole with a picture of Tanaka in the middle of it.

Oh god "barance" XD
...I'm officially scared now.
Not to be confrontational, but this is just completely wrong.
1. Job Switch Animations (aside from the bard one) look like they have nothing to do with their respective jobs. It's like the bard team used up 90% of the budget given to the job switch animation team.
2. Not to mention that bard somehow is playing music without even picking up an instrument.
3. I've seen many people complaining that spellcasting is boring and cartoonish, though it has developed a little over time.
Don't get me wrong, I'm certain some of the animation issues will be greatly improved come 2.0, but I believe "half-assed" is the exact word used to describe a lot of the in-game animations right now.
