I'm sitting at Midnight Blue right now. You need to reduce the blue levels so feed it some apples and pears. I would go one extra apple since you want the red to be even with green. I'd suggest trying 3 apples and 2 pears. If on the fifth feeding you dont get the Feathers message, maybe try 4 apples and 3 pears.

I think you might be right. I got that message twice with plums and went to Sylph Green from Desert Yellow. So in theory went from around 219R to 187R.

3 shades of blue and a pink.

i made Salmon pink, i believe it was total of : 4 Doman Plum and 3 Valfruit

Also: Please pay attention to and report how many messages of 'Sprout' you get as its possible that is the true colour change trigger...
It might explaint he different colours we are getting eg.

person 1 feeds 10 berry and gets 8 'triggers'
person 2 feeds 10 berry but only got 6 'triggers'

result = 2 different colours

I’m loving the results from the Chocobo Coloring! Good job everyone! I’ve fed my Chocobo 4 Pineapples so far, to see what the result will be, but eventually i’d want to aim for Snow White. I’ll post a screenshot later today! (^_^ )/

I got all the blues triggered, now i wanna lighten it to ice or something, but i'm really afraid i'm gonna lose the blue. D:

So i'm not going to throw it with pineapples just yet.

Tried to see if I could find a pattern in single used colors up to the changing color notification based on the google docs. It'll be rough, but maybe someone will get some use out of it. Only thing I didn't see was a low number of just pears used so they are missing. How accurate this is is hard to say since i don't know when people stopped using their fruit and just grabbed the smallest number of fruits used.

+10, -23, -34 (+red)
-38, -18, +25 (+blue)
+34, +19, -43 (-blue)
+10, -10, +51 (-green)
-34, +7, +51 (-red)

Tinkered with some numbers some more. Using someone's findings of Goobbue Grey (130,128,125) with Berry x12, I tried to see if the numbers above made any sense with how many of those berries may have worked and gotten the feather message. This is how the numbers worked out, decently close.
- 2.3 berries worked on red
- 2.6 berries worked on green
- 1.8 berries worked on blue.

All of the company chocobos are male, actually. :3

Turquoise Green Chocobo = 17 O'gho Berries, 12 Mamook Pears, 2 Xepharol Apples.

Mine is currently Sylph Green after 5 plums, 4th and 5th gave the new feathers message.
Just fed 2 pineapples to lighten blue hues, 2nd gave new feathers message.
Will post results in 6 hours.

So to keep your blue and head to Light blue... I guess +Doman Plums ... if this is accurate that is.

But as I said earlier - I do think that the 'Feathers' message might be an RNG proc per feed - so count the number of times you get the message with the snacks please - as it might just be that simple.

To reiterate, I have been reading through this thread and Reddit and there are -major- inconsistencies when it comes to people trying the same recipes. I believe color change is solely dependent on how many messages you get with each fruit per feeding cycle, not how many fruit type you feed them. For science, could we please start keeping track of how many messages per fruit we get when dying our chocos and including that information in our updates?

I dunno how but I was able to get mine to Cream Yellow despite aiming for Snow White. I think I just need to add more green and I'll be set.

So currently I've fed my chocobo 1x Apple, then 20x Apple. I'm aiming for a red, Blood Red, Dalamud Red, any -red- red. He's currently at Pumpkin Orange after that. Should I just keep stuffing his face with Apples to get him to become more red until reaching a red I desire, or do I need to use other fruits? The methods seem terribly inconsistent (like Did the method for Dalamud Red (Xelphatol Apple x32, Mamook Pear x15, O'Ghomoro Berries x22), got Midnight Blue...) so I'm just curious as to how I should approach getting him to be red from his current orange. If anyone has ideas, please let me know... n_____n

So and fc buddy gave me chart and i found this so ill post my results.
i got fc buddy to help experiment on this to figure it out and damn to hard lol.
im focusing on one color first red. i have plenty and im going to mess around alot tell i figure it our from what i see people are getting different color with different fruits in different amounts. or same fruits in different amount.
So one color seems easier i fed my own chocobo and a friends one and saw no message.
We waited 6 hours and no change. before this i had given out fruit to other fc members thinking mine or there's would be some shade of red. after realizing ours weren't changing i decided to experiment. i talked to a member who fed one fruit and said he saw this message of 6 hours. so i took my chocobo out to reset its timer if it had one.

i proceeded to feed it tell it said the message so did another member it took us both three fruits to do so. So being confused i said ok maybe the values "numbers" can be different for each fruit based on what ever rng how they were grown etc. after doing so i asked other members to feed there chocobos and they agreed so i thought ok maybe when it says the timer it a different shade or "tier" in the color bar. so think of this i figured then different amount of apple at one point should say different things. like devours but no timer. so think of this i decided to but some fruits to "lighten the red" since mine were still growing and it was late at night. So anyways here what i feed them and i will post result tomarrow when i can.

chocobo one was fed 1 apple and said message at level one.
chocobo 2 was fed 3 apple and said message on thrid one.
chocobo 3 was fed 6 apples and said on thrid 4th 5th and 6th that plumage will change.
chocobo 4 was fed 5 apples and only said plumage would change on second and thrid, 4th and 5th said nothing.
chocobo 5 was fed 3 plums said color would change on second and third.
chocobo 6 was fed 6 plums and said color would change on 1 2 3 5 and 6 4th said nothing.
i will post results asap i think its based on when colors of plumage change message means that a new color. the "numbers" for each seems to be 1 - 3 which can explain the different colors and different messages displayed anyone else will to try something similar with 6 other chocobos with different colors would be of great help. desert yellow may not the the BASE color like 100 100 100 i think its higher like in the chart. so it should cap i hope rng is not involved =/ but it seems that way.

also its possible the reason different fruit combos give same color is because it maybe not have a TRUE max maybe after so maybe you go over the number and restart at bottom "most likely not". i think it follows the "tier" of colors like on the dye menu so after you get that certain color.lets say dalamud red adding another apple or apples tell you get the plumage message it should go up to red rust dye at least im hope it is.
"with add and or renamed colors" so just because the menu doesn't have a color doesn't mean im wrong just that its an added color or renamed. after this test im going to lighten and darken them again using one or two or three tell it says the message once if im right then they should change in color after seeing the message once. if im wrong they should mostly be the same color.

if im right they should all be different shades except my two control who only said it once one with 3 one with 1 apple. which would mean rng is also in this which would be bad. since that means number of fruit doesn't matter the number you don't know matters. sorry if its to long the results is what matters lol....

Actually, I might be able to shed some light on this. The difference between Midnight Blue and Dalamud Red is only 50 Red.

So, just a question of observation, is there anyone going for a brown color and planning on renaming their bird to Choco-bo? I think that'd be pretty awesome

so like i thought rng is a factor this mean to many fruit is bad and the message must matter every message must be a different color then.

Again, it seems that just waiting one minute between feedings gives more consistency in getting the "grow new feathers" message. Disbelieve me if you like, it's your own fruits you're wasting, not mine :3
