I think they are saying it doesn't matter what role you play, you can say you don't want big pulls. Why a DPS would say that I don't know though....
Save that sort of thing for explorer mode. No one wants to wait whilst you get a Gpose shot.

I mean anyone can ask for small pulls and the party can either accept or deny that
But no matter what your role is if you want to go at a different speed to the other 3 members of your party then you are the odd one out and have to adapt
If you ask for small pulls and the other 3 don’t want to do that you should just leave
The only role this real concerns is healer below 80 but even that’s becoming an edge case these days
(And I say this as someone where if the other 3 want small pulls I’ll accept it or leave)
the problem with leaving is the 30 minutes penalty and that is were the problem mostly start because of someone wanna do it for the msq but want to small pull but the 3 others doesn't it become a conflict right there and there I do think a middle ground could be fine at all points
Shouldn't it honestly be up to the healer how much you pull? you know, the one role that actually have to potentially adjust their gameplay to accommodate it. rather than the tank who regardless of how many mobs are on you, will just keep spamming the same 2 button aoe rotation anyway?
I have been a tank main for years now but have gotten bored with it and have moved over to healing. I will say that one of the WORST feelings is jumping into a roulette and getting a tank that refuses to pull both groups. Especially knowing that it's possible (because I play tank as well) and I have the confidence that I can keep you alive as a Healer.
I ran into a player last night in a lv90 dungeon that said they weren't comfortable pulling both packs before the boss. People like this get no sympathy from me personally. It's an ENDGAME, max level dungeon. You are pretty much expected to know how to play your class at this point. Even if it's your first time running the dungeon, they're all the same. Pull both packs, hold aggro and until we can burn everything down and dodge the bad orange circles.
That has been the ff14 dungeon playstyle since the very beginning unless you as tank know you're undergeared and know you cannot handle the monsters (especially in mid level range).
But nowadays dungeons are so undertuned, there's literally no reason to not just go until the end and just nuke them all down at once. This is reinforced by the convenient fact that 1 w2w pull is about 60seconds (2min meta ring any bells?)
Now if trash mobs would be minipuzzles like criterion however, it would turn the whole boring dungeon treadmil upside down. Qarn was actually very ahead of it's time before getting stomped into oblivion difficulty wise
