I have said it before to people, if you are a healer and want to experience engaging content where you HAVE to be healing, go join one of the FF14 MINE Discords out there and join a static for MINE Coils. I guarantee you, you WILL be healing, a LOT! And if you even try to DPS a lot as you normally do in other content, people WILL die, fast!
Yes, I know, old 50 content, not using all your new fun goodies and OGCD heals. But hey, that limited 50 kit combined with difficulty of the fights and the Minimum I llevel/no Echo thing, make for a really nice healing challenge and force you to use ALL of your skills and spells to keep people alive, plus really learn to control your MP usage.

Truth be told this is really disappointing. Healers over time been losing alot. Complains not been heard. Want something challenging? do ultimate is not a valid excuse. During the first week of prog it will be "challenging" due to the fact nobody knows what to expect during the fight. but once they dive in an do more practice in it they will get better and clear it. Some of these fights (from what i saw) will take 15 mins at most.
heck take it a step further when world race is over and the guides come out everybody will get there clear since the information is out.
even saying doing old content sync is not good either. playing since arr people could solo heal the coils, people can solo heal alot of savage fights when it was current at the time.

Just a few to show that damage output is not that great and healing overpowers what the party takes. You can go on youtube find it.
And for those that keep saying dark souls difficulty you need to stop memeing at this point. Darksouls has a artificial difficulty nothing more nothing less -

Only engaging Healer content outside of Ultimates will be Healer Mimicry Blue Mage with Basic Instinct soloing Dungeons but it just boils down to keeping Gobskin up and using Pom Cure to full heal yourself regardless of where your HP is at.
His answer of "Go play Ultimate" is incredible.
Especially since half the job classes in the game are broken. They blew their job design team on Reaper I guess. Even if I really only want to play a Blue Mage who will be stuck at lvl 70 for a long time since they have nothing planned for it. -

Because it is in the casual content where players derp like crazy.
Healers, simply put are not designed to be all the engaging through their offensive capability. This is what I wish the devs would come right out and say. They do say this, but they keep sugar coating it. Healers are quite literally like the guidance counselors at camp, or the adults at recess/break in grade school. From my perspective, they are role intended for that first responder mentality. There are literally tons of people whose level of comfort is found in idleness, and sense of accomplishment is gained by their ability to react despite that circumstance. Don't fault people for that. You don't have to play a healer if you don't want to. -

All those real life equivalents you cited relish having nothing to do considering the alternative ranging from mild inconvenience to life-threatening. Games don't function quite the same way.
