I agree with OP, sub-based game shouldn't have a cash shop.

Only the character name and the trasnfer server should be in the cash (To avoid abuse). Nothing more.

This is a slippery slope fallacy.

Square has shown no indication of moving in that direction despite some people's insistence for two years. There is simply no precedence to assume they'll suddenly charge for gear progression. Furthermore, it's financially shortsighted at best; suicide otherwise. Western audiences have extremely hostile opinions towards Pay to Win models. Black Desert suffered a PR nightmare even attempting it while ArcheAge eventually relaunched a separate server in a desperate attempt to repair the damage they caused going through with it. None of this accounts for it being wholly counterproductive. Say I could buy the 275 Anima or purchase a stack of 2,000 Scripture, and I use that with my static to clear Savage week one. What incentive do I now have to keep playing? Speed killing is meaningless due to the discrepancy P2W causes, I already have the gear and nothing else lasts for more than a week; assuming I even care about story. So I unsub until the next raid tier-- costing Square $78 (13x6). Basically, they would need to charge $40 each for the aforementioned benefits just to break even. Little higher than $9.99, hmm?

No matter how you slice it, putting the Anima or tomestones on the cash shop is an incredibly stupid and shortsighted idea they will never do.

And one day you will wake up and realize that SE is a company that has to earn money and has just COSMETIC items in their shop that have no impact on the gameplay. To make it short for you: Not gonna happen.

And if you think everything should be free in the game just because you pay a sub, maybe you want to pay more each month that the company can generate the expected amount of money with that game. But i hardly doubt that you can just imagine what happens if a game doesn't create the expected amount of money.

As if any publisher would be the welfare...

I'm more bummed to not see actual FF outfits outside of veteran rewards and fanfests. Besides scions of course. I would gladly give them more money if they released classic FF outfits.

Not a legitimate argument when people's criticism isn't with what other people do with their money but rather what SE does with their cash shop.

The game was fine and got more than ever before the cash shop. The content in Heavensward is pathetic next to 2.1 and 2.2, and the sub didn't have to increase.

Why do you people keep arguing against your own interests? As you said, Square Enix is a business. They're not your friends. You gain nothing from defending them, on the contrary, you lose and drag everybody else with you.

I think the issue with me isn't the cash shop one way or another, but that some stranger, who as I said I find proof has used the cash shop, is criticizing me for spending my money how I see fit. Its no one's business what I do with my cash. There was a demand for a CS or there wouldn't be one. Its profitable or it would have been shut down. And for my OMG comment, yes... this thread again? There are like three of these in the first two pages. Why make a whole new one to make the same comments as the one right down from here.

The level of energy I see people argue this is asinine. Do people come in here to complain and "criticizing SE's business practices" because its easy? Let me say to people here, there are plenty of businesses that need criticizing, and its not as easy, or fun, or as attention focusing on you, but if you put 1/10th the energy into that. Omg I'm old that's the problem. I think we all just see the world different and this seems so small to me because I have seen so much worse maybe. IDFK really.

You do realize that LoTA was supposed to be in the game at launch right? So it was part of the budgeted 2.0 release. Moogle had already been created, as it was in 1.0, as was ifrit EX.

They wouldn't lose anything by having a failed cash shop, there wouldn't be a need to shut it down. They're not physical items that need to be mass produced to meet the demand and competes with storage space for other items.

Considering that 2.2 brought just as much (and better) content, I don't get your point.

If they wanted to do the same for 3.1 they could've released another tier for Ravana, Bismarck and Thordan. They just chose not to.
