It's true there is not RMT spam in my server.
But, there are bots occasionally. They mostly stick to the lower level areas or warp around so fast they are rarely seen. They seem to be used for leveling, not gathering.
HOWEVER, there is this one bot that has been running around for the past few days now in our server and no action has been taken yet.
I have already reported it 4 times in the past two days, writing in both English and Japanese, so whoever gets the message can understand it and fix this problem.
But still, the bot is still doing this. Not logging out for more than 24 hours, doing the same exact routine over and over.
They have complete monopoly on some items on market board!
What do we need to do to get the GMs to notice JUST ONE PERSON!?
It should be easy. Just ONE person? How long will this illegal activity be tolerated?
How hard is it? To read reports for one bot on this one server. Why can't this be solved quickly?
EDIT: I am tired of this bot being ignored. Perhaps reporting the player for harassment will at least let me speak to a real human about this situation? Has anyone tried this?
As far as the tell bots go, The ability to set tells to friends only, and ability to disable friend requests would solve that problem
Signed to help.
We do have bots over here in the JP servers, mostly THM and ARC bots who teleport around and stack in one place killing low level mobs.
And the japanese do engage in RMT but they do so very discreetly - they buy their RMT/gil thru jp yahoo auctions and the like.
RMT employees will go wherever they make the most money. Tired of seeing RMT spam? Blame the people who buy gil. If you buy it you're part of the problem so don't bother complaining.
As long as there are more RMT employees buying copies of the game and subscribing than there are people leaving due to RMT, why would SE do anything about this? The exact same problem was huge in FFXI and it was the sole reason I stopped playing. But there apparently were a lot of people willing to keep the game going despite the gil sellers.
Now the FFXI gil buyers, plus those from other games of course, are in FFXIV, and apparently there are enough of them still buying gil that the RMT people are willing to keep buying copies of FFXIV with or without legal payment methods.
Stop expecting SE to do anything about the RMT problem. It's not going to happen and you should've realized that by now. If you really want RMT to go away, stop buying gil and discourage your friends from buying it.
They are adding a direct report RMT button. Finally. After three years.
Won't solve the problem, but being able to one stop report is a huge improvement. I'll take it.
Ah, finally. :)
(Though I'm a little surprised about the mention that "When it is confirmed the reported player is sending RMT messages, their ability to speak with other players will be restricted." It seems that once it's confirmed, the whole account should be banned. What's the point in just silencing them?)
If the player was hacked, all the more reason for it to be a complete ban, to prevent any further damage to the account. It should be an immediate indefinite ban (permanent unless proven it was hacked and can be returned to the proper owner).
And saving it for regular ban waves defeats the point, which is to get them banned faster than those waves come around. There's no benefit in waiting for them after the decision's been made.
