Echoes of Vana'diel FFXI Alliance Raid

I have no idea what to expect beyond Shantotto, so I guess what I really expect is something really weird to happen.

Since we'll find out tomorrow, here's my personal theory of what's happening in these raids-story wise. The bosses are in an electrope MMORPG that was made for the Endless to play in, and is somehow still running (but breaking down) after Living Memory was shut down. Shantotto is the first boss, then Altana and Promathia to satisfy the "fight the gods" promise, and I think the last boss is going to be Sareel Ja throwing his simulated GJJ at us as the program gets corrupted and starts coming apart at the seams, the whole world breaking around us.

Wait, a thought occurs... way back during the Queen Eternal fight, during the Up and Down phase

we can see chunks of some destroyed buildings in the background, similar brickwork and color and the trees look like the ones in Bastok, but the shapes of some of the stuff is wrong... was... was that Shantotto's handiwork all the way back then?!

Man im so glad a playstyle is being deleted for I M P R O V E D encounter design like the third walk. At least the visuals and music continues to be cool, i wish XIV was higher fantasy like XI.

Loved the last boss actually. The others were decent enough but the last especially.

Felt unfinished compared to the first two.

Fight all great. Final boss was dopey as hell after the transition though.

Got a warm fuzzy feeling out of:

"We'll leave the light on."

This was a letdown tbh.

Not a single really interesting new mechanic (aside from the last boss taking turns to shield).

Compared to the Ivalice, Nier, or the EW raids, this was very lackluster in the presentation.

Was a bit meh, the only boss that was interesting was the last one and even then it didn't kill me despite it being first time.

Still felt like watching a commemorative trailer for a movie I never saw.

Yawn.

I feel as though I am being teased. On one side of the Besieged fight there's a BLM NPC with a properly rotated Shantotto's staff, and on the other side there are WHM NPCs with the Light Staff. And there are new RDM NPCs in Jeuno with the Light staff. As far as I know still not available for players.

As much as I loved this raid series (I'm a former FFXI player having done all endgame content with multiple endgame LSs for 5+ years), I was a bit disappointed it didn't include a certain something...

No Sanctuary of Zi 'Tah music or orchestrion roll... Some of the best music from FFXI; nowhere to be found in the entire raid series. My disappointment, immeasurable. My day, ruined.
