thats a joke right? how could they tell if you are using
If using Nvidia shaders which is a built in setting on the graphics card is using third party tools, I guess we can bring back up the debate that using a controller, mouse, keyboard, and monitor being a use of third party tools too.
I would not like it, would actually be a reason to quit and I think that goes for a lot of people which is why I do not see them implementing it.
My reasons for being against it is for me natural. It is the devs saying that we all are suspected of cheating whenever we play the game, there is a high risk that the game experience will be affected negatively by this, it is an invasion of privacy as a scan can scan everything and who knows what is sent to SE.
And finally. It would be overkill, the content in question is played by a very small part of the playerbase who has the time to do it, the skills to do it, and wants to do it, among them only a very, very, very small number of player cheat. In other words, this kind of solution will annoy many and risks making way more people quit the game then the small number of players it attempts to stop from cheating.
SE would lose a lot of goodwill in EU, OCE, NA, if they did this. People value their privacy. I too would be most displeased and consider playing alternatives like Guild Wars 2 if they did this anti-consumer move.
The more competitive game the more anti-cheat systems it has. Don't expect online games to "value your privacy" if you are afraid of anti-cheat systems. And there is nothing that affects your privacy if the game checks if its own files and runtime were modified. That's the basics it can do to block plugins and mods.
And the worst thing that can happen is all world first race players would start using addons, everyone would know it, and as nothing would leak SE would do nothing aside from making fights harder and harder because players clear them "easily" thus ending up designing fights that require add-ons to clear. Then any new player wanting to join any non-basic content would be flooded by the list of "unofficial" mods to even play the game. How "fun" would that be?
I went down the Twitter FFXIV modding community rabbit hole . . . I have seen things no lalafell should have to see. It changes you man, it alter your perceptions as to what is real and what is not. I will never be the same. The things people pay for when it comes to mods, may the higher powers have mercy on our game, and the amount of money some of these creators are pulling every month is insane.
Anybody want another billboard incident?

how many people actually take part in world firsts? less than 1 percent of the population. What happens in ultimates shouldn't be used as ammunition against the vast majority who don't even participate in that content or care about it.
Nope if they can't trust me and need to scan my PC every time then goodbye game. I'll go elsewhere. They can't even fix bugs correctly or even make the game way better like UI changes. I still figure out why I still play it
This is doomsaying as Yoshida has come out and specifically said they have no intention of designing any encounter above that of Dragonsong. While Omega is certainly pushing the very edge of that statement, it's more a matter of opinion which you find harder. Ironically, Omega has seem some degree of criticism already because of how precise mechanics are relative to previous Ultimates and how said precision can be frustrating due to this game's very poor latency. Regardless, we will never see anything require addons in this game nor will Ultimate push beyond what's been released. Very few of the already small Ultimate playerbase would even want something harder than Dragonsong or Omega.
The burnout rate on it is pretty high already. Anything above those two - or releasing Ultimates more frequently, for that matter - would run the risk of driving a significant portion of that already miniscule portion of the player-base away from the content entirely.
...But you know, I feel like Dragonsong and Omega Ultimte in some ways might actually not be as ridiculous (relative to player skill at the time, which has definitely increased over the years) as pre-nerf Pepsi Man was back in Heavensward. That thing was the slayer of FCs. SE even apologized for it. One can only imagine what something that monstrously overtuned would look like with today's standards of mechanical complexity.
What are you people afraid of square enix finding on your computers? PDF?
In all honesty though, it is really weird how one extremely vocal and toxic minority of the community is holding the entire game hostage by saying they will quit if square enix enforces their ToS that you are legally bound to following.
I think that all the damages caused to rule followers should result in compensation. Like, why is my experience ruined by rule breakers? I am following the rules because they are what they are. Why am I made to cancel my sub because people are bullying square by saying they will quit if cheats are disabled?
They are losing subs either way, they should side with those who want to play the game for what it is, rather than those who complain about what is and change the coding of the game to suit their personal ideals/cheats.
At this point it seem SE really only cares about addon usage in world first videos and when it makes the news. There was a prominent member of the parsing and raiding comunity in NA who got caught red handed both using and developing cheats for other players and nothing happened. They even admitted to it and a whole lot of nothing happened, they're still allowed to keep their omega weapon and spot in the world first race.
I guess at this point I have to change my mind about 3rd party addons, this situation seems like a full on go ahead to put whatever you want on your game as long as you aren't a world first raider and don't get caught, cheat all you want.
What's the point in me progging Ultimates for dozens of hours for a clear when I can just installl automarker, cactbot, and splatoon and clear in a day and a half? I get the same result, SE won't punish me, they sure don't even punish members of the press circuit who get caught using and benefitting from these, so why should I adhere to playing vanilla without addons? I wouldn't be opposed to having anticheat but without it and in the current situation why would anyone not install everything they can? it's not like there will be any actual consequences.
Best to just quit the game. It is safe to assume that everyone who has an ultimate weapon cheated to get it. There is no more valid prestige left in the game. The other thing is, it's kind of a security risk for people to be able to just mod the game freely without any program scanning their client for malicious code.
Since they don't do it like blizzard does with their official API, there is a ton of sketchy stuff that can happen and does happen. All of these addons might as well be virus carriers because it is all done in the shadows due to being officially against the rules. It's really weird how attached people are to cheating in this game, and then they go on to say that it's a security risk to have square enix using a client based scan system to detect if the game is being tampered with. These people are probably already fully hacked because of the third party sketchy addons they use.
Parses are based on the community's performance, it's not some hypothetical. It is based on the state of reality. The reality is that poor performance is widespread in this game, so much that people feel entitled to defend their own poor performance on the official forums openly.
Fun. Personal satisfaction. Does it matter if people cheated or bought their clears? If you feel the title you got mean something to you, this is all that matters. If you only want the title because of other people's perceptions, you're in the wrong mindset to even tackle this content in the first place.
I highly doubt you would clear any recent ultimate in a day and a half even with all tools available though (unless you're botting outright). While it's undoubtedly a huge benefit, people seriously overestimate how much callouts and such could help you in Ultimates, or even just Savage.
I'm sure nobody posting in this thread uses addons ;)
Let's clear a few things up too. I haven't been playing this game since long before dragonflight came out. I stopped playing in the first savage raid tier when I realized that P3S was a bit too much to take on in PF at the time. People were hardstuck on P2S and it was hard to form groups.
I was only brought here because of what happened with the world first scandal. I didn't know how bad the addon problem was, and I had already been losing interest in this game because the content rolls out so slowly. Now that I know the addon problem is as bad as it is? Why would I ever subscribe to this game of sanctioned cheaters? It's different in WoW because it is officially supported and I don't have to download sketchy unsupported addons that are hidden in the dark web because they are against the ToS.
Why would I support a company that supports cheating directly? All the ultimate weapons used to look so cool and I'd actually feel respect for the players holding them, now? It just feels cringe to look at. 99% chance they abused cheats to get the weapon.
You cheaters are the reason we will be under surveillance, and for what? Because you didn't want to achieve things without cheating in a video game. That is why we will be brought under surveillance: because you can't help from CHEATING IN A VIDEO GAME.
I'd say true losers are those who blame their own failings on an increasing numbers of excuses instead of trying to get better.
You're not bad, it's the fault of those dirty cheaters who uses dps meters and chat bubbles!
By the way, while your gimmick is certainly cute, there's probably a more interesting story beneath all that. You said you cleared P1S and P2S at some point, and that you consider savage content the true RPG experience. But they were released more than 6 months ago, what made you stop?
EDIT: Oh, you edited your previous post right as I asked. Nevermind then. More self-righteousness, who would have thought.
