Complete races ... this game has become perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Possibly more info at the development panel later this evening ?
Very happy for future male Viera players! :D It's perfectly acceptable to finish the races one at a time because it means we get new customization options sooner. I'm excited to see what female Hrothgar will look like in a couple of years.
I have already used one of my two remaining fantasia (out of the three total we got before it became cash-shop-exclusive) to change back to miqo'te. Could I have waited one more day to be completely sure? Maybe, but I started to realize that even if they added them now as promised two years ago, it would be too little too late. I still wouldn't be able to use event hairstyles, and how long would I be waiting for another round of "unique" ones? Another two years? And how many normal hairstyles for the regular races would be added in that same time, another 15?
The only way I'll have to eat my newly-visible hat is if they undo the decision to keep them separate, in which case I suppose I still have one fantasia left.
I was absolutely sure they'd never do it, but man they really came through. They really deserve the highest praise for managing this.
Oh heres a thought: We may get our first sneakpeak at Fem. Hroth w/ the new bozja area. I mean we last got vague silhouettes of them during castrum (or was it delubrum...I dont remember...) and they gave us a cop out of (LOL have a Fem Roe!) but maybe...just maybe....
Bunny beards! Imagine long beards on male bunnies!
At this point I'd prefer if they just outright said they had no plans of changing it... I hate being kept in the dark for so long.
Been ages since I posted in this thread, just stopping by to say a big thank you to all those who kept this thread alive. And the biggest thank you to the dev team for going out of their ways to make our dream come true. Devs didn't have to listen to us, but they were awesome enough to work hard to give us male viera (and in the future female hrothgars).
Time to go celebrate!
So, we now have our explanation; Instead of upgrading what we have, they spent the dev resources making the missing genders, and female Hrothgar are confirmed for a future update.
These are my thoughts. I'll try to look at the bright side, but now it's going to be double the issues in the future. Looks like viera hairs are gendered. Unless they make new "viera unique" hairstyles unisex, and we have to deal with that...
I really, really hope for something for female viera, but this is concerning. Very concerning before the graphical update.
I still expect the hair question to be asked in the Q&A this weekend as it’s such a hot topic.
I suspect that with male Viera having the same ear styles as female Viera any new hair they design for Viera head mesh could work on both genders, I also suspect if they wanted to they could give all male Viera unique hairstyles to female Viera and vice versa with much less difficulty than trying to sort a hairstyle for female Viera and male Hrothgar.
I also hope male Hrothgar and female Hrothgar have the same sort of head mesh so they could do it for them as well essentially giving more options with as little cost as possible.
I played a Worgen in WoW so I'm experienced in waiting/being left for last. Now that Hrothgals were confirmed I don't mind to take the backseat while Viera get the spotlight, it also releases the pressure of the notion that Vieras were held back because of Hrothgars.
Oh no, what I mean is that now that male Viera exist, they can be treated as the proper counterpart to female Viera, so the whole "Hrothgar and Viera are a unit so they can't do anything with Viera because of Hrothgar" argument is now a moot point.
Female Hroths were also confirmed, so I, personally, would rather wait for my own dance partner than be a third wheel, if that makes sense lol
although i am so happy with them announcing officially that we'll be getting female hrothgar ! my future main ,
i am abit concerned that this will be another excuse of why they can't/ won't be adding new hairstyles for viera/hrothgar ( because we were too busy working on male viera and we should be thankful and not ask for more ).
The silver lining is that all the people switching over to male Viera will quickly realize how restrictive it can feel to not wear hats, or having limited hairstyle options. Hopefully they will push for a fix with the same intensity as before.
This is what I'm hoping, Viera will now be a "complete race" (and Hrothgar will be in the future as well) so they can be un-linked from each other.
I can't get a really good look, but a cursory glance it looks like the male Viera ears themselves are slightly different shaped but will have the same shaped attachment points and all in the same spot like female Viera, so in theory they'd have to modify each hairstyle once and it would fit both.
Though a point against that would be that they could've done that all along and simply re-used them for when male Viera released, and they decided not to.
That's such a funny and cute way of looking at it. :)
I wasn't able to watch the entirety of the keynote. Did they say anything about hairstyle availability for (f) Viera or (m) Hrothgar?
I was pretty surprised with the announcement. I mean I'm happy yall been wanting this but I wonder how much has taken a hit because of this and is still limited.
I guess time will tell.
honestly this was my first thought as well. There is no excuse now and any hairstyle they make for male viera they might as well pass on to female viera and so on. I am hoping for that long hairstyle one of the vieramen has, actually I am hoping for all of them, they looked great. I am so happy over the the races being completed and as much as I wish femhrothgar was implemented now I hope that they deciding to only add viera means the two genders will actually get alot of TLC at each of their releases so they are more complete than what femviera and malehroth when they were released.
I think good news is coming later today. They will give us more hairstyles and hopefully some images of female Hrothgar. I have a male Hroth and he will most like be hitting a fantasia pot when they release.
Edit: Since my post count is maxed still atm. It looks like Male Viera will indeed be shorter than the females but not by much.

Edit2: Actually that may be a fan image after doing a google translate of the Japanese on twitter. Guess we will have to wait for later today.
I hope this and more. They should do a lot more than just hairstyles. They should finish the races and adjust helms and all hairstyles just like all the other races. I think if they do this though they won't announce it until they're ready to implement it, which means probably after female hrothgar is implemented. I hope I'm wrong though and they do announce it sooner than later :D
Judging by the comments, the development panel was un-eventful last night o 3o
Heres to the live letter and live Q & A later today, ladies and gentleman!
Hold up, Yoshi's shirt right now is a bunny with a hat.... :O

Owl?? That's a bunny!
[EDIT] Oh, ok. I can see the owl there too, I still think it's a bunny though :o
Please be real, and not be ugly unisex trash hairstyles! :(
I'm patiently waiting to welcome male viera players with open arms to this thread, for when they realize how limited they are and use fantasias to switch back and forth. Future female hrothgar players need to pray right now, pray that hair isn't tied to faces.
Food for thought: Despite being a high request, one of the reasons that Bunboys were chosen to be added right now is because they'll be added ingame next week with patch 5.55? In the trailer of that patch there is a glimpse of Fran fighting in the new Save the Queen area, so there's gonna be Viera presence in some capacity. I also remember Fran herself debuting with the last Ivalice raid in SB, before playable Viera.
The model seemed pretty finished, at least to be a NPC.
