So I was re-listening an episode of LBR and they were speculating on how there could be a different style of martial arts developed underground in ala migho, wich brought me back to Capoeira and how it was created; I honestly do hope the new job is a martial artist inspired dancer and this could be a perfect lore fit.
I still think it's gonna be BLU, which I have 0 hype for... I hope I'm wrong though.
How did the spiderman Tshirt debate devolve into DNC vs. MNK again? Hasn't that been spoken about to death in a thousand pages of forum thread? Yoshi P said we would learn who the girl is in 3.5, which is next week. I'm pre-emptively sorry for all those of you who created speculation out of nothing.
Holy fuck we get it, we're all fucking dumb for expressing an opinion that differs from your own. Now apparently you know with 100% certainty which job we're getting so mind giving us your leaks?
Or maybe, maybe you're just as much in the dark as we all are which means you need to get off that high horse of yours and accept that other people have different theories.
Breath dude, you'll hurt yourself ;) You'll notice the key thing I said is that the argument has been done to death and that we will find out next week. I don't know anything and neither does anyone, except for what we can see in the trailer. I'll reiterate what others have said that if THAT is dancer, then I feel bad for the creativity department in that apparently MNK and DNC are so similar that they can spar with similar movesets (seriously, go watch the trailer), but either way, it does not matter what you think, or what I think, because we are likely to find out the truth next week.
i hope for blue mages. because blue mage draw on animal and mobs abilitys, blue mage i hope is going be tank we need mage tank jobs.
So if it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, then let people talk about it if they want to, even if its been argued six feet under the ground. I mean even you still found the time to type paragraphs and give opinions about a topic thats been done to death lol. So let everyone else do it.
We don't need another magic user when we have whm. They would most likely end up being the same job... Oh wait... Blm, smn, sch.
See how that works? Lol.
Or swords? We don't need Another sword user it would be the same Job... Wait a minute....ninja gladiator darknight... Shit. They did it again.
Lol. Damn monk is the only bare handed combat class. dancer, with their moves, could easily incorporate some mnk skills(with having cross class currently and whatever they are changing it to later) and still have its own style.
Hell they could have a small blade of some sort to go with their combat style.
Wait and see, it's the best we can do.
Oh come on that's disengenuous and you know it. "Martial artist" is a hell of a lot more specific to class identity than "mage" or "sword guy", so I don't know why you try to muddle the issue with bad examples. A much better case would be if SE teased Geomancer as a "holy-themed earth mage", or Templar as a "dragon-themed spear-wielder", and you can BET people would throw a fit over their WHM and DRG class identities getting the shaft.
People shouldn't react any better to "rhythm-themed martial artist", and if they do it's only because they're too in love with the idea of Dancer to see how bad it would be for the game. Besides, I see that as an extremely lazy way to implement a new job, and I know SE can do it better if we don't encourage them to slack off.
It would be nice to have more variety. I don't think we actually have any holy themed jobs in game barring maybe the Paladin. White Mage isn't a holy(Read: God themed) job, so I don't see what a holy themed earth job could compete with.
I'd actually argue that martial artist is the least specific of the three. Martial arts involve much more than unarmed combat and also includes any form of martial discipline that uses a weapon, such as a bo, nunchaku, kusarigama, sai, and even just a plain old sword and shield. If you've want to get really technical, "martial arts" encompasses pretty much every art, or discipline, of war.
Well speaking of similar jobs, we do have mch and brd >.>
whm and ast...they basically do the same things just a little differently. I wouldn't mind a martial artist type dancer job. We only have one "dagger" class (well, more like katana :P) and I would love to see another dagger job..if that is dancer then hell yea ^^
Now you're either just being biased or your view/knowledge of martial arts is too narrow.
"Martial Arts" isn't any more specific than "Mage" or "Swordwielders". There are many forms of 'martial arts' as there are many forms of 'magic' and 'swordstyles', even if to you all martial arts are the same.
Be that as it may, my concern (and opinion) is that these two:
http://img3.mmo.mmo4arab.com/news/20...ormblood-4.jpg
aren't distinctive enough to warrant being two separate classes, at least based off what we've been shown so far.
Except that is totally different. So no, that's not how it works. Having two jobs with the same exact monk skills is not the same as jobs with totally different magic skills. Black magic is different than white magic and summoning magic. You can't just bundle them in the same generalization to fit your argument. Having the lady in red to be a dancer who mimics the WoL's every move, would be like adding another job with a bow and songs. She IS that similar to a Monk. In addition, generalizing swords into the same category as Katanas (SAM) and daggers (NIN) is just flat out ridiculous.
Spiderman could also refer to a Dancer/Puppetmaster mix. Martial artist that uses strings to fight and manipulate a puppet and also have dances active on the char and the puppet much like a Bard.
I think the Spider-Man t shirt is hintng a new DOL / DOH job and my guess is Photographer. At the fanfest Yoshi-P showcased the new ingame screenshot edito. And it's an extensive editor so I think that's a good possibility. Whether or not it's called photographer or something along those lines.
The girl in the trailer is wearing something different than the monk of light, because she's a main NPC in the plot. Even if she was also a monk, that wouldn't necessarily be the female version of AF4. I believe she's either Yda, or related to Yda. Quite possibly a princess in exile. That could be why Yda hides her face? Possible wardrobe change for Yda, like other Scions in HW? Either way, she's an NPC, and her clothing is special attire like other NPCs wear. I don't think it relates to a new job, or new PC gear at all.
Personally all I hope is that we will get another tank in Stormblood. The possibility of getting only two jobs and both being dps kinda annoys me.
@TarynH
I do rather agree, but as someone pointed out about her shoes, those are dancer/ballet type shoes.
It may mean absolutely nothing like you have said though :)
Watching the teaser trailer with how the girl moves, fights and is dressed she reminds me of the dancer job class. The guy reminds me of a berserker with how he is dressed.
So personally I think the new jobs will be dancer, berserker, and red Mage
Honestly I would be fine with 2 DPS this expansion then next expansion have Healer and Tank. I don't think they are in a really good position to add a new healer after AST especially when AST is basically a sch and whm in one just not as strong. Tank they could maybe add but I don't want them to add it just so they can combat Warrior due to it most likely feeling very lazy.
You have a point on that one. However, I am worried that by adding 2 dpses they will end up pushing tanks and healers further into the minority, especially during the first months of Stormblood. Also keep in mind, RDM is not a support class according to Yoshi; meaning that it won't offer as much utility as it will simply offer an extra dps option. Thus, this all feels like bloating the DPS spectrum and adding no tank/healer won't really help in the long run imo.
The reason I think she is a dancer is because of how she moves and fights. If you watch her she moves in an elegant dance style martial art, I won't rule out that she could be a monk.
The guy could be a monk but just with the way he is dressed with the leopard print sash thing and his feather collared vest reminds me of a berserker. His stance is different from monks as well with where his feet are placed. His attacks also seem to be a bit more brutish and powerful than a regular monks, it looked like he also preferred more of a frontal assault than doing positionals like monk.
Those are just my reasons behind why I think they're a dancer and berserker. I could be wrong of course but time will only tell, what gets revealed at the next fan festival?
Yoshi-P said the Monk was wearing the new AF for 4.0. He didn't say who the lady was, but since they fight using similar moves, she is most likely a monk as well. Its a CG trailer, its going to be flashy and different lol.
The first fan fest it was said 4.0 will be focused on MNK. It was also said the derp of light in the video is wearing the new MNK AF. The girl is most likely Yda, or Yda's sister. Yda is a MNK, but maybe her sister is a dancer or a MNK with special abilities. Her identity is yet to be revealed, but that's where the MSQ is going imo.
As far as her shoes (from another poster) they just look near eastern to me. I don't think they're special dance shoes. But who knows.
dunno about you guys, but compare this to the trailer's supposed "dancer" girl, and since "Ivalice" and "Ala Mhigo" are pretty much the same concept:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqMgCckRqfo - around 1:20
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra6Kq3YWdu8 - plus this clip from her main game
http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...psbtcuabfp.jpg - ignore the weapon
i think they're going for the (penelo) -Ivalice- type dancer in this.
It's no surprise stormblood is going to be based around the monk job class because it's taking place in Ala Mhigo. The guy in the trailer could very well be a monk in the new AF using a different fighting style. The girl tho I'm still thinking she's a dancer, at the beginning of the trailer she was dancing into various stances and pose's in more of a martial art style. While sparing with the guy she still maintained the graceful dance style moves.
Look at heavensward for example it was based around the dragoon job class, but what did any of the new jobs that were released have in common to dragoon?
but none of the CGI trailers for heavensward showcased any of the new jobs, it only showcased Dragoon, the same way this CGI trailer only showcases monk.
And none of the new jobs resembled dragoon in anyway, making them easily distinguishable. That's not the case here. The guy and girl are so similar in fact, we can't even come to a general consesus that it is indeed a new job, and that the new job is Dancer. most still believe its a monk because its the obvious choice since the trailer was just meant to be a cgi teaser for the announcement of Stormblood.
Its all good and well to speculate, i just wish people would keep the reaching to a minimum.
Casters/Monk is in as bad as a spot as Tanks, and to a lesser extent healers. AST and WHM do need some adjustments and are arguable in the worst spot out of all the roles, yet it shouldn't come at the cost of not adding a new job. Balancing is something natural, not something you get instead of a new job.
But wait... their adding a new caster? Even in their current state? And most people want a new Melee even with MNK's state. See where I'm going with this? Their adding new jobs because these roles haven't had a new job in a while, Casters 100% deserve a new job even in their current state, and they'll probably undergo adjustments along with 4.0 and their new lvl 70 kit.
Now I also think Melee's 100% deserve a new job... They haven't got one in a while. But what about Off Tank and Off Healer roles? I've been stuck on WAR for almost 4 years because of it's 'NEEDED' utility and Off Tank capabilities.
And I know a lot of people will disagree and say something like "Well I think your wrong, there should be no such thing as an Off Tank and Off Healer role" but unfortunately for some people this is how Yoshi-P envisions the meta of tanking and healing. I personally like it, as I prefer to be the type of Tank who does a bit of everything like WAR, and I love it, MT constant Tanks aren't really my preference, I've done it in the past and can play it fine but it isn't for me, but I know some people enjoy it.
The way I see it is, DPS/Tank in 4.0 and DPS/Healer in 5.0. You always want to introduce a DPS in an expansion due to it's high appeal to new players being the most stress free job (outside of raiding)
TL;DR There are different type of play styles for Tanks (Main Tank, Off Tank) and Healers (Main Healer, Support Healer) just like there is for DPS (Ranged Support, Caster and Melee), and these different play styles also deserve new Jobs for their desired game play
She could be a dancer. Or it could be an NPC with a specialized dance-like fighting style. Maybe she's just happy. That's not to say that dancer can't be added later either. Like a certain NPC gave us ninja. I'm still sticking with it being Yda (or relation), and the fight style is unique to her... for now.
