Darkside Aura .. hurts my eyes. Can't turn it off.

No it won't, because I have those effects turned off.

Some people like epileptic anime. Us normal people don't, and while darkside isn't that bad, it's on the level with a T-Mobile commercial.

I can enlighten you on the wonders of what people take advantage of: Effect visibility. However, they do NOT apply to the Darkside Aura.

You see, it's this nifty thing right here that I'll even put together:

Along with editing the intensity of things in non-combat settings as well.

Having the aura being immune and forcing it on others who don't care to see it is as obnoxious and pointless as playing a guitar riff at the end of every sentence.

My comment was more on the over-reactions people have about this (and many other things on the forums). Is there some unwritten rule that if you pitch a massive fit and blow it completely out of proportion you will get what you want? Cause I know when my kid throws a fit for a candy bad and says he will absolutely starve if he doesn't get it, WONT get the candy. I'm far more receptive of a please and thank you. I can tell you are all the same way by the response to My over-reaction.

People saying "I will quit BAWWW" over it I'd consider an overreaction but I haven't noticed that. At first I wasn't bothered by the aura but the charm wore off very quickly when it became far more numerous. Kills the atmosphere, ruins screenshots, is an eyesore among other reasons. Even plenty of DRK players feel dissatisfaction over it. Plenty also bring up valid points as to why the aura's immunity to effect settings is a bad idea, so the agitation players have is not unfounded.

I'd advise you to cut your losses and quit while you're ahead in this debacle, thank you.

The bulk of the comments against DA including the OP are:

it's just way too big. is there any other class or job that has this constantly swirling sea of color around them? sometimes you can overlook it, but then other times (and often times) it gets in the way of the beautiful scenery and game world in general. it's a pulsating, swirling red blob of color. it's unattractive and doesn't seem to fit with the job itself. Blood of the Dragon looks awesome on Dragoon. it's consolidated on the character, it has some personality as if they are channeling the power of the dragon. what is the darkside aura? just a red blob of color? what is it representing exactly? what about it says "dark knight"? Monks look like they're pulsing with energy and active, Warriors look like the have a flame of fury under their feet. and all those drop off at some point to give us a bit of a visual break.

I'd like to apologize for my previous comments. They were in haste and tainted by other RL issues and were totally uncalled for.

There is a legit issue here and, for the most part, people are actually committed to what they are trying to get (by turning off all effects). There is also the request for the Aura that people are seeing in the DRK quests. Both reasonable and most of the comments regarding it is reasonable.

I guess it was me that was overreacting and becoming one of those types of posters that I hate. Sorry, carry on and you have my +1.

Please make all player effects that are linked to a player skill or ability pay attention to the effects settings in the game. I can turn off player effects on my client, but the eyesore that is the Dark Knight Disco Inferno still flashes and pulses to unheard music. It's annoying.

SE please make the aura smaller and fit the character only, dark knights are annoying everyone. Personnaly, I chose not to main DRK mainly because of this. (I did a right choice by coming back to my WAR though)

That may be my biggest complaint about it, that it's so big.

In addition to the black flames, I remember the red aura part being much tighter on the body, like 1/5th or so of its current size. If it was a lot smaller, in close on the body, it would be less obnoxious.

So they are not willing to check the aura before 4.0. Guys, let's gather in ydilshire with drk and auras on, take screenshots and show SE how bothering it is. They dared compare it to monk 's greased lightning.

It's or a rumour unfortunately. However he said he would check with his team to see what he can do, but it would take time...obviously it's far from being their priority.

So just cause he likes something, he has to change it for others? Who is the Director of this game again?

Besides, they reduced the size of the aura so it's "size" is no excuse anymore.

If that response from Yoshida is legitimate, that really says a lot of what he thinks of the players.

There's loads of complaints about this effects. Not just something as simple as "It's bad, I want something else", but the fact that it's just unpleasant and sometimes painful to look at, the fact you can't turn it off, the fact it extends a million miles away from your character, and the fact it's incredibly obvious out of combat. I hate having to use darkside. It doesn't really do too much for me since I have full vitality gear, but it's still adding more enmity and opens up more moves. I feel like I'm bothering my party with it on to the point I feel like making a macro that expresses how sorry I am that I have to put them through the agony of the effect when I use it. In fact, someone do that. Let's bring the complaints in game more. Bring more attention to it. Please.

Yoshida's comments are bad, but what feels really insulting is how in the current event, on the 18th Floor, Yoshida and his staff gather around you and build up your ego like you're really important to them. I think Yoshida's NPC even claims that they always take note of criticisms and do everything they can from feedback to improve the game.

THIS IS NOT AN IMPROVEMENT.

It seems like the majority of people want it changed. there are floating numbers of people that either don't care or are fine with it, but i'd say the biggest percentage of players would like to see it changed as QoL issue.

It is the only battle aura effect that remains permanently visible outside of combat. Even when it's on my own DRK it annoys me.

It being a permanent Aura with Darkside isn't a big deal. In fact Dark Knight works well with it because they're all about darkness visually.

Problem is, the aura is ugly on it's own, and the way it is right now, it's hardly even there anymore.

First they butchered the aura by removing it's only focal point before release, and now they cut it's size and opacity down by a lot. I mean I understand they had to do something about the supposed 'eye strain' complaints, but they just keep butchering our aura. It's only like 25% of what it use to be now.

Went from being a beautiful, visually pleasing aura in the ability preview video, to this faded out excuse of a strobe light effect.

Yeah I'm still waiting for them to add the black flames again. And if yoshida isn't changing it just because he likes it even though so many people want it changed that is horribly selfish

I'd really prefer to just have the black flames. The red flaring just makes it unnecessarily big and obnoxious.

And if the problem is the ground circle, then make it without one? I'm sure they could make that look cool.

No its not, this atrocious effect still needs fixed. It still hurts my eyes because of how bad it is. I would love it to be changed or modified in a way. I would love it for example if the effect was around the blade, or person.

My own view, probably a minority view, is that the effect should be changed to just be glowing eyes. Get rid of the entire Aura completely. Just crazy glowing eyes like Fray's.

Oh that would be cool. Or if it really has to be a bigger aura then the black flames close around the body would be perfect. Anything but this horrible distracting eyesore we have currently.
