Just as I said earlier in the thread, the BIG GUNS are coming out. Just imagine the more humble competitors that don't show their work. We've got a lot of competition in our hands.
We can at least be sure of one thing, regardless of who wins we will get a badass looking ring.
Alright; think it's safe to post whatever we want now. I know the competition is thick, and that rings with a similar name, effect, and style (though, thankfully no identical combination of the three!) have been posted - so I'm gonna have to sell the hell out of this thing. LESSDOTHIS.
From the Ashes of Eorzea, the Phoenix Rises

What do you mean the image still says "Phoenix Ring"? ... That's a typo.

Increased Spiritbond Gain +1
Enchantment: Reraise (5/5)Upon being fully spiritbonded, 5 chargesLORE: As the meteors fell during Dalamud's Fall, tremors were triggered in the Rhotana Sea. The volcanic system responsible for creating the Cieldalaes island chain was revived with activity, and deep within the caverns below, a roost of slumbering phoenix was awoken.
of reraise will become enchanted to the
ring. Once all five charges have been used,
the spiritbond gauge resets.
After they had fled, and the caves had cooled from exposure to the open air and sea breeze, a squadron of soldiers from The Maelstrom, aided by adventurers participating in mock Skirmish battles in the area, was summoned to investigate. Within the caves were found some of the rarest of provisions: Phoenix Tailfeather (aka Phoenix Down), as well as both ash and carbonized mineral cystalizations left by the intense Flames of Rebirth - the most potent of all phoenixfire.
In secret, these rings were forged to aid all of those amongst us who would linger through the cataclysm and help our kindred to safety. Pure silver, mined from O'Ghamoro, was laced with brimstone and phoenixfire ashes to create darksilver bands and phoenix emblems, which held into the ring gems cut from the carbonized remains of burned down; mineralized by the intense heat and pressure of phoenixfire.
It is said that when a phoenix lays down to die, and their body erupts into the Flames of Rebirth, that some of the spirit of the fallen phoenix is expelled into the flames, and all that they touch, before a new egg is formed in the ashes - and that gems created in this way retain some of their essence. It is also said that if another spirit bonds with this essence, that they may sometimes share in the fallen Phoenix's power of resurrection.
As Eorzea falls, the phoenix rises - and in time, so again shall we.
Wear these rings with pride, and rise again!
Fun Facts: In mythological folklore, silver is said to possess metaphysical qualities like the reflection of malintent, purifying properties, and the ability to magnify the power of any gem laid into it. By adding brimstone (aka sulfur) the volcanic link is made and the attachment to flames complete. The gemstones in this ring are created in the same was as synthetic diamonds, but with the input carbon being made from phoenix down. It all comes full circle!

Those of you who have played FFI will understand the inspiration.
For those that haven't, you can read up on it here
The abilities were inspired by two things.
1) In Matoya's cave, her magical brooms teach you a 'Spell' so you can see the map. In ARR, the map will be uncovered via our travelling, so this ability will increase the range of map discovery.
2) The Crystal Eye's appearance in Dissidia was just as a component for other items, but it did increase your Luck stat. I know there isn't an official luck stat in FFXIV (anymore lol), but there is plenty of RNG type stuff so this "Luck +5" could be used to secretly pad RNG checks like: Crit rates, HQ discovery, Melding Success, Materia generation, Item Drop rates, Double-down odds, etc...
I'd almost prefer the exact implications of "Luck" to be hidden and discovered by players via testing over time.
Some notes:
-The ring tells the story about the warriors of light and their quest to restore the crystals (FFI). You can see the fiend of earth "Lich" holding the earth crystal on the band, as well as the discovery of the airship, and the crossing of the first bridge in the frames.
-I tried to incorporate little elements like Matoya's hat and her magic brooms (used as frames for the scenes).
-Though some of the details might be lost in the final version, I wanted to create something that people would find fun, useful, and evocative of the first FF game.
Wow, you guys are really good.
SE could hire a bunch of you to take care of equipment design.

Zantetsuken....your ring is bangtastic. What render engine did you use? Also is the design around the ring a self designed bump map?
Final render looks great.
Wow, compared to those rings mine looks rather dull. o.o

In the Gridanian lore the moogles are a secretive people that mend things magically over night when they are placed on their shrine, if you just believe.
I really like this story so I wanted to create a ring with it. It sort of reminds me of those fairy tales of the little people (brownies? So says my dictionary...)
The ring is a tribute to those helpful moogles. It is blessed with a charm that protects your gear in battle times and upon facing death from wearing out too quickly.
Stats: Wearout time of any gear equipped reduced by 50%
Yay for rainbow gemstone moogles... : D'
