Very good point. It was completely misguided for Yoshida to bring his EQ-inspired baggage into the franchise with FFXIV 2.0. He’s now realized the error of his ways, but it’s too late. We still have a critical mass of people who want the old-school MMO that we had from 2013-2020. When Yoshida chose to change genres so drastically, he should’ve taken that into account. He should’ve anticipated that players would be unhappy.
If Yoshida is sincere about this transformation, he needs to finish the job. No more pussyfooting around ultimates that require a static. No more wasting patch cycles on instanced content that people aren’t interested in. It’s time for FFXIV to segue into a lifestyle game like VRchat and other “metaverses”. Those are the up-and-coming MMOs, and you and millions of others are excited about our new future. He should support you instead of stabbing you in the back by wasting so much time on “content”.
On a side note, when are we getting VR support?
