Just point out that it kinda important to care what the developers say, otherwise you might miss something important.

What I really don't care about is keeping to the topic though, since I'm just killing time.

Its important to read what they say, caring is another thing.

Seems to me like a similar thing happened for Moogles, some thought it was ok to use the death exploit, some thought a victory should be earned. This is no different. Some people wouldn't mind trampling their own grandma for a win. More power to you, but some like to do things the honest way that they were designed to be played. This is a player's forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I can assure you of this, we don't waste time talking about how some people are getting cheesy wins, we have more important things to talk about, like Kevin Costner and his vegan leanings......

ITT: Players blatantly admit to exploiting a game mechanic (and it IS an exploit otherwise they would not be patching it) because it's easier/faster to get consistent wins.

I still fail to see how it is an exploit. This is a fault of phase 1 mechanics and Garuda's AI being very lax when it comes to performing the steps leading up to Aerial Blast. Even you guys (along with most "standard setups") abuse the mechanic by using it to skip Phase 2 and get her as close to death as possible for phase 3. They're patching cause they didn't forsee players actually able to take her down so low/kill before she was able to Aerial Blast.

if it wasn't an exploit, and it just boiled down to player ingenuity taking battle content designers by surprise, yoshi would have just commented on how surprised they were by player strategy.

however, what actually happened was yoshi himself acknowledged a design flaw in garuda's AI in calculating HP before using aerial blast. we can prove this two easy ways: first, there's no way to skip astral flow in moogle or ifrit fights. second, we can see examples of garuda's calculation of remaining HP influencing battle mechanics both in pushing her down fast enough that she skips second plumes phase and goes straight to the third, and in pushing her down fast enough that she skips phase 2 after aerial blast. perhaps you haven't experienced the latter since you're blm burning it ;)

the fact that being successful with blm burn strategy requires working around her HP calculation check for 2nd plumes so that you can skip an obviously required element of the fight (aerial blast) is exploitative, no matter how you slice it.

i'm pretty sure that they have never in the history of this game hotfixed content just to make it more difficult. considering how many casual players play ffxiv, doing something like that would cause a shitstorm.

DoL wrist flick stunlock @ ifrit? exploit. hotfixed.
die/reraise hate reset strat @ moogle? exploit. hotfixed.

Skipping phase 2 is not skipping Aerial Blast. Every bug/exploit in any MMO is usually attributed to the fact that it was poorly designed by the dev team or poorly tested by the QA team. I fail to see your point as the same thing happened on Moogle. Exploitation of a poorly designed bug is still exploitation. They're patching it because it's not intended to completely negate a pivotal mechanic in her fight - which makes it ridiculously easy.

equating skipping 2nd plumes and/or skipping phase 2 with skipping aerial blast is... ridiculous.

she pops out far more plumes for 3rd plumes, so giving you 2nd plumes no matter what would be retarded if the HP check for astral flow was actually working as intended, as it would mean you get a break by burning her fast and end up dealing with less plumes, which means less damage to pillars and less damage taken for aerial blast.

for the same reason, forcing phase 2 after aerial blast makes no sense either since phase 3 (with 3 random mechanics) is longer and much, much harder. once again, this would give you a major break for burning her fast as it would shorten the amount of time you spend in phase 3.

two of the three HP checks in the fight are working as intended, to retain as much difficulty for the encounter as possible. the third HP check (astral flow) isn't working as intended, has been addressed by devs and yoshi, and is getting hotfixed so it will work correctly.

finishing a fight without knowledge of bugged mechanics can be chalked completely up to dev error. working around knowledge of bugged mechanics to change the desired outcome of the fight, however, is 100% exploiting. yes, the exploit exists due to developer error- but once they acknowledge the error and intent to fix it, by continuing to use strategy/mechanics to take advantage of this error is completely on the players.

and while they've said no one will be banned for it, it's pretty delusional to try to defend the exploit and/or convince yourself it's not.
