Why can't you see your stats when you finish dung/raids and trials?

Once Weapon Mastery was added to the game, the scoreboard stuff showed it's effect. Because at that point the entire game revolved around Weapon Mastery which just gave big numbers. The role ratio between DPS and non-DPS is bad but in DCUO at that point everyone was DPS. So many DPS... Then certain weapons and powers became FoTM because they did the most DPS. The game revolved around Weapon Mastery and Weapon Mastery revolved around the scoreboard.

Weapon Mastery messed with peoples' minds in terms of how they saw the scoreboard. No the parser didn't make the people toxic but it gave them a reason to "use their toxicity" I guess you could call it.

Well, as you can see, they are here as well, the toxicity is just used in other places. Its just as bad, look at things like hunts. The toxic people don't come and go based on parsers, they just are. Also its been pointed out that a lot of times, the people being toxic about others dps are usually some of the worst. There is a reddit thread about this very thing. Where the OP did one hundred runs and recorded who was abusive about what and what their dps was. In almost all instances, it was a low scoring dps complaining and or kicking someone else because of their dps.

They always have FotM roles in DCUO, its part of their money making scheme, they intro a new power, and it's stupid op for a few months so everyone buys tickets to switch powers, then they nerf it and everyone buys more tickets to switch back. Its no wonder people are pissed at that game, it revolves around ripping off their customers.

Everything in your post is wrong. Parsers are used correctly in wow by the vast majority of people. Go clear savage with your 2.x damage and get back to us.

I said nearly all HW content, normal dungeons and raids. Of course this doesn't include savage, duh. I'm not sure what WoW players you play with but most I come across won't even talk to you if your numbers aren't high enough.

Well, it might have changed after panda which is when I stopped playing but in the years I played it really the only time people posted parses were after boss fight and nothing was said. Occasionally there would be someone who would just auto attack which would get kicked from the group. The only time in all my years of playing that someone got salty about parsing was a warlock in our raid that would consistently do 30% as much dps as everyone else. She used the old "Im doing mechanics" excuse. Even though everyone else was also doing mechanics and still pulling close to the numbers they should have been pulling.

If you were having that much of an issue with parsers in wow you must have been pretty bad.

The randoms I played with with kindly helped me out with my rotations and gave advice for what stats to focus when they saw I was struggling with my numbers a bit. I honestly found the ability to have a parser (and addons in general) to be one of the best features of the game.

If people are going to harass, they are already doing it. They can also just claim that they came to the number from keep an eye on the battle logs, mentally calculating it. You technically can estimate dps like this; it probably isn't practical but you technically can. People can just say they used that instead of a parser while still using the parser to get the actual number. Parsers themselves don't collect data directly from the game, they just read the data as it goes through the memory, so there would be no signs of it that SE could detect. All they have to go on are chat logs. It won't cause elitism to spread because elitism is already there, they are already using parsers.

Honestly, the people I see this helping the most are the ones that are willing to get better, but just don't know their output. The lack of official parsers actually makes it harder to help the people who would want help because the current ones are technically against the ToS. Just like how you can't openly use a parser to harass someone, you really can't openly use a parser to help someone without risking yourself. It works both ways.

It's already pretty obvious to tell when someone isn't pulling their weight just by paying attention.

I love it when I call afk-ing/autoattacking dps out and they always act surprised I noticed.
